Links to the Present: 3/14 Larry Sanders in the Land
2017-03-14Cavaliers Officially Sign Larry Sanders | NBA.com
The Cavs officially have inked Sanders to a two year deal (17-18 nonguaranteed). While many are hoping for him to contribute immediately, it looks like the Cavs are going to take the long road.
The plan for @l8show_thegoat in Cleveland is to practice w/Cavs & play for Canton D-League team for most of the rest of the regular season.

Cavaliers Make Space for Sanders, Waive Bogut | 247 Sports
In order to make a roster spot for Sanders, the Cavs had to waive Andrew Bogut, who unfortunately broke his leg less than a minute into playing time. However, it seems that Bogut has taken it in stride, even wishing Sanders luck.

Pistons Tobias Harris Expected to Play Against Cavs |Detroit News
The Pistons (Cavs opponent tonight) will start Tobias Harris if healthy in tonight’s game.
This has been a fun season. I hope we can get healthy soon though.
It’s pretty awesome that the Cavs have been great even without their starting lineup for most of the season.
They’re great every other month… December and February were great… January and March (so far) not so much…
Hopefully April and June are lit by that standard………….
As long as a bad May doesn’t keep them from June…
Let’s hope not…. Haven’t had a healthy Cavs team since December… isn’t that crazy itself?
Yep.
JR got hurt late December. Love’s knee started to act up at the same time. Of the 10-11 weeks without one or both, 4-5 were good & 6+ have been hot garbage.
12-4 in December (4-1 after JR went out), 7-8 in January, 9-2 in February (5-1 without Love), 2-5 in March (so far)…
It’s too bad L8Show won’t probably be ready to go back to LA this coming weekend with the Cavs… Could use another body with the b2b. I’m guessing guys play Saturday vs. Clips and sit Sunday vs. Lakers…
No travel. Same hotel & building. Plus, the Lakers stink. We should win that easily.
Gonna be a long night against the Clips though. I’m going to try and go to that game over the Lakers game, because even though Sunday is a cheaper ticket, there’s at least a possibility LBJ rests…
Of the Cavs’ remaining 17 games, only three are against teams that aren’t either in the playoffs and fighting for position or fighting for the 7-8 seed in the EC… I’m sure if Sanders can get back into basketball shape by the end of the month, they can use him in games that should still be competitive in April (Boston, Toronto, Miami, Indiana and two against Atlanta).
yep. I’m also sure after two subpar games Nate will give him a derogatory nickname and declare him toast.
If he’s fat and out of shape, I’m definitely voting for The Colonel (as in Sanders)…
btw… for all your obsession with Delly being out of shape two years ago, I’m surprised you take such issue with Nate stating the obvious about a much more clearly out of shape Deron Williams…
Nate said he was useless. That was a hot take silly thing to say. Worthy of some derision. Or at least some good natured ribbing. You have to play your way back into shape after being out. D-Will & Sanders both.
I don’t remember him calling Deron useless… I guess I was more referring to the “Pudge” nickname…
Digging the new Kyrie 3s!
Me too! Simple but something about them that makes them stand out.
Sanders in the d league makes sense considering he hasn’t played in freaking forever.
GS at the #2 spot, if it sticks, GS will have to play Memphis, Rockets or OKC, then likely the Spurs. That’s a tough road.
Not sure it’ll stick though… Spurs have a two week stretch at the end of this month and early next where they play Cavs, Warriors and @OKC in one week, and then five games in seven nights the following (at least most of those are at home though)… Granted the Dubs have a similarly tough week that same first stretch where they play Memphis, Spurs and Rockets twice, but their April is mostly a cakewalk…
100% correct on the Dubs having the easier run in. Spurs missing LMA, Parker, & Murray at the moment. If Aldridge gets back soon & the Spurs win the game vs GSW in SA with dubs on 2nd of a b2b, they’ll have a 2 game cushion.
Kevin Love should be back soon. That will solve our problems.
Well, some of them. If healthy. If 100%. And, if Sanders can still play, and can get in shape, and can learn the system, if Tristan can avoid the curse of you know who, and plenty more.
There are a lot of “ifs” for the Cavs, and every other team. There is a reasonable chance that enough things will work out that the Cavs will be in good shape by the later part of the playoffs.
As long as the Cavs are healthy no one will beat them until the Finals.
See very little point to having him play in the DLeague. We need minute relief for TT immediately, not in the playoffs when we shorten our rotation and Sanders would hardly be needed.
It may be dangerous for him to go against NBA talent right now if he’s not in NBA game shape. I imagine the D league will also help him get his lateral quickness and timing recalibrated.
But if this was the plan, why didn’t we just bring up Moreland and take a waiver on Larry after the season? Gambling TT’s health on a possible contributor for the playoffs seems mighty risky to me…
I think it’s because Kevin Love’s return is near.
Hopefully so. Still seems like a silly risk. What do I know though. I’ll trust in Griff, I suppose. He’s been pretty spot on for the past 3 years…
Except a couple of minor things….
Varejao extension (cost us a 1st round pick)
Lack of Delly extension before title year (wanted 3/10, got 1/1.5 and left for 4/38)
Besides those two, it’s hard to argue I think….
Considering how awful Delly has been his year the Buck really regret that one. But yeah 3/10 here would’ve been fine.
I thought you were over your Delly obsession?
I skipped my latest Delly Anonymous meeting.
The imagery on that is priceless… nice job
The Cols Office of Propaganda is well aware that Delly is the perfect deflection to real issues.
You seem not to understand it will be d-league AT FIRST. Dude hasn’t played in 2 years. He needs as much PT as he can get ASAP. He also needs a low pressure environment to do it in. The goal is to have him ready for the POs. He’s a better player than Moreland once up to speed. Love is close to a return. We have only a 3 game lead. We can’t just throw a new guy out there for 20 minutes a night again. Korver & Deron messed us up while they got acclimated. By the time a… Read more »
I UNDERSTAND plenty. I am capable of reading and synthesizing that information. What I am saying is that I am much less concerned about having a big man like him in the playoffs than I am for having a big man RIGHT NOW. TT is better than both Sanders and Moreland. If he gets hurt and can’t go for the playoffs then hurray, we have Sanders developing in the D-League. But I’d prefer to keep TT as healthy as possible and not need Sanders in the playoffs.
The Cavs are much more interested in the playoffs.
