Live Thread: Cavs vs. Pistons #OrangeYouReady
2017-03-14The Cavs return from an up and down three game road trip, hoping to get a bit of revenge against the team they faced on the first stop last Thursday. The Detroit Pistons are in town, hanging on to their .500 record and the 7th seed in the East by their fingernails, and the guys in wine & gold orange should be ready to deliver some payback for the 106-101 defeat administered almost a week ago. This will be the fourth and final time the Cavs face the team who could easily wind up being their first round match up for the second consecutive season. Detroit has the advantage, winning both games that were played in the Palace at Auburn Hills. But, tonight is another Throwback Night as the Cavs don their Hardwood Classic jerseys once more, so let’s hope they throw a loss back in the Pistons’ general direction.
Cleveland could probably use a bit of help on the glass, since Andre Drummond and his team out-rebounded the Cavs the last time… and with them also coming off a thumping in that category against the Rockets. Larry Sanders is signed, but won’t be available, as he spends a couple of weeks down in Canton starting this Saturday. Most everyone else is available, sans Kevin Love (who could rejoin the team on the next road trip) and Kyle Korver (missing his fourth game with a sore foot).
Cavs probable starting lineup: LeBron James, Richard Jefferson, Tristan Thompson, Iman Shumpert, Kyrie Irving.
Pistons probable starting lineup: Tobias Harris, Marcus Morris, Andre Drummond, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Reggie Jackson.
Prediction: Cavs throw down on throwback night and orange crush the Pistons, 110-102.
Catch all the action starting at 7pm EST on Fox Sports Ohio.

The first one is LBJ in Miami the first year he won a title, at age 27, which, with the year after that, are widely considered peak Lebron. The second line is this season, at age 32, in his 14th season. Higher FG%, higher 3pt %, and the most rebounds and assists for any year in his career. And he’s actually averaging slightly more minutes. Hole. E. Crap. We are not… Read more »
Agree with JoeyB.
It has been obvious for years that LeBron is the best to ever play the game. He should have won at least 75% of the MVP in this time. Some of the years he did not win are a total joke. Steve Nash two years in a row? Hello.
I think there is a good chance he will play into his 40’s and still be an All-Star
Its certainly possible. Remember two years ago when the talk was how he was finally slowing down with his injured back? I fully admit I was one of those. His durability is really incredible.
Seriously awesome
Cavs need about three good weeks with a full , with four to five days of that last week with no games for the stars, for practice and game time. This is key for establishing rhythm and chemistry going into the playoffs. In the end, Deron and Derrick probably won’t get more than 10 min a game in the playoffs. Korver will get as much as 15. Sanders will get none, unless we’re by 30 in the fourth quarter. Key guys will be the same ones that were around last year, with RJ and Shump possibly taken much more limited… Read more »
Keep in mind: It is hard to predict the future.
Cavs won this one due to 3 point variance.
Defense looked pretty good. Sanders didnt break his leg. A win-win
Ha.
JMay was right, Sanders can play right now.
The Cavs have 9 guys shooting 38%+ from 3; 4 over 40%, 2 over 45%, & 1 over 55%. Four more hovering around 35%. And TT & Larry don’t shoot them. For the record:
1) Tier 1: 40%+: JFJ 55.8% (29/52), Korver 48.7% (74/154), Derrick Williams 41.9% (18/43), Frye 41.8% (117/280, 53.1% in March).
2) Tier 2: 38%+: Irving 38.7% (144/372), Shumpert 38.7% (89/230), Liggins 38.6% (17/44), James 38.5% (109/283), Love 38.4% (119/310).
3) Tier 3: 34%+: JR 35.4% (57/161), Deron Williams 35.3% (6/17), Felder 35.0% (7/20), RJ 34.0% (54/159, 48.4% post ASG).
I can’t believe J.R. has already taken 161 threes. Never change, J.R.
My error, I gave Frye a lot more point than he had.
Great game for us. RJ & Shump were great with season highs. JR’s best game post surgery. DWill1’s best game here. Frye & D-Will2 go for 13 each. James with a triple-D. Kyrie with 26. 7 with 10+ w/out Korver & Love. Liggs got some run.
Well, at least Sanders make it through the 2nd minute.
That was a beatdown
Hi Tom! Good to see you.
Dexter St. Jacques! Closes out the game with a three!

Liggins running the offense is just ugly
I thought he was pretty good for a while. Trying to force feed Sanders for a hoop was kind of ugly with under a minute left was his only TO. Had 2 dimes.
Boban is a GIANT!
Der Kinderlumper!
Marjanovic! Sanders! The NBA on Fox!
If Sanders gets a block or a bucket crowd gonna explode
I hope he doesn’t get hurt against the 7’5 dude…
Sander sighting!
C’Mon Lig! Gotta let Larry grab that!

Had to happen.
RIP. A legend.
Sanders in.
“Hey, Larry. Break a leg.”

I think Derrick’s real name is Dexter St. Jacques.
I wonder when was the last time the Cavs kept a team below 100?
JFJ banana time!
The NBATV guys talked for 8 minutes of this quarter before kicking it back to Fred and AC…
Tweet them about how terrible they are.
Wouldn’t matter…
Too bad Sanders isn’t available for this game.
He’s there, but he’s going to D League for two weeks…
Can’t wait! In person scouting to come.
That’s right!
Alrite, D League it is, not quite ready for NBA game yet.
Dang. I thought he might.
i stand corrected.
Think we’ll see Sanders for a minute or two at the end? Felder, Liggins, JFJ, Sanders + 1 (Shump, RJ, JR).
For Nate…

I like watching Liggins play defense
Man, the Cavs just have so many good players. It’s great.
This one’s for the minutes 5.0
