Playoff Live Thread: Cavs vs. Pacers, Game 4 (#BroomsOut)
2017-04-23The Indiana Pacers has never been swept in four games in a best-of-seven series in NBA franchise history. The Cleveland Cavaliers have gone on to sweep an opponent all seven times they’ve lead 3-0 in a playoff series. Something’s gotta give.
Following the biggest second half comeback in NBA playoff history that the Cavs hung on the Pacers Thursday night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, it would be understandable if Indy was too demoralized to put up much of a fight in Game 4. However, if Jeff Teague has anything to say about it, the Pacers will refuse to go quietly. And, while it would also be understandable if the Cavs took their foot off of the gas, and the Pacers’ collective necks, especially given their propensity for not finishing off opponents in the regular season… they could make things easy on themselves with a clean sweep. After all, the early round sweeps last year seemed to really benefit the wine & gold by affording them more energy in the tank to pull of their epic Finals comeback.
Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love should be plenty well rested for this one after sitting out the fourth quarter of Game 3. We’ll see if that development winds up being an outlier or a trend today.
Cavs probable starting lineup: Kevin Love, LeBron James, J.R. Smith, Tristan Thompson, Kyrie Irving. Pacers probable starting lineup: Paul George, Jeff Teague, Myles Turner, Thaddeus Young, C.J. Miles.
Prediction: It isn’t easy, but the Cavs sweep their way into the second round 122-118, and get a full week to prepare for whoever survives the Raps and Bucks series.

[Editor’s note: The InstaCap for today’s game will be posted later this evening]
That was better TT…
Jump on em in the third.
TT costing Cavs 4 points there…
TT just a little off with the running hook still
Deron has basically cancelled out Lance…
For Lebron to reduce minutes, Kyrie and Love need to be twice as good as they have been in game 3 and here in game 4
Or just play four game series in the EC instead of 6 or 7 game series…
It’s so crazy to me that around age 28 LeBron didn’t just go into Karl Malone mode. Just crazy how athletic of a perimeter player he is at 32 and 260 lbs
Greatest athlete of all time?
Thank goodness LeBron has the “body of a 19 year old”. Utterly ridiculous how many minutes he can play.
I like the way they’ve played D thus far… with the possible exception of Kyrie letting Teague blow past him three times. Even he’s had a couple of good defensive plays though. Allowing 50 points is better than 59, 58 or 74 from the previous three…
Frye is our Robert Horry right now.
Hack-a-bron seems like a good potential strategy. Refs will only call it 50% of the time, and bron shoots 50% at line equaling a 0.5 ppp (aka 50 points per 100)
That’s what I’d do in second half if I was nate.
Aren’t you nate?
LeBron would have been the greatest TE or WR in the game.
+1
Pretty good QB too
Glad he picked basketball tho – who cares about being the greatest TE in the game
Not bad given just 6 assists and mostly miserable three point shooting…
Kevin suddenly alive. Kyrie with awesome transition D. George checked out. Time to get out the dust pan.
Well, up 6. Has LeBron played all 24?
He got 1:30 of rest
When I don’t remember that?
End of first quarter
Ty called a timeout and took him out…
1:24 Channing Frye enters the game for LeBron James
Yep. He will probably have to play the whole second half too.
If they win, he’ll have a week off to rest…
Although, why didn’t he take that last three?
That was a terrific defensive play by Kyrie on that break…
Paul George fouled Lebron hard but George felt it more than Lebron
TOUCHDOWN! AND ONE!
FINALLY KEV!!!
Well at least Kev accomplished something this game

Ouch, shot to the groin.
Can’t believe that wasn’t a foul on George. He got zero ball
PG on the ground but that should have been a foul on him
Kev didn’t score… but he got a knee into PG’s jewels…
Wow. Way to get him, Kevin.
Love got mauled by George. No call.
What is wrong with Kyrie?
Doesn’t like getting shown up by a 32 year old…
He always looks lost out there
This could be a 40 pt quarter for us. We had 20 after 1 methinks.
Lebron carries the starters.
LeBron off the ball is a revelation. Who knew? (I mean besides anyone who follows this blog)
Yep I think he was one of top 3 ppg on cuts this season, maybe one. Can’t remember but I looked up his ppg by play and cuts were by far his most efficient play.
Has LeBron even attempted a jump shot? Love how he’s trying to put this team away at the hole
Great charge taken by Bron! Three on Turner!
James playing so well off the ball.
Slashing LeBron is the best LeBron….
Thad Young is one of the league’s great second quarter players.
Has Love scored?
If Kev could make a shot… this would be a 10 point lead…
Let’s see how long the other four starters plus Lebron can keep the lead
Three fouls on JR…
Come in JR. Play smart.
Ball don’t lie…
Well, TT, Love, Ky, & JR come in to kill the offense.
Kyrie is in a funk.
Lmao – shades of game 2!
WTH Kyrie?
Great call. Lance gave love the heisman move.
Can’t believe Love got that call.
Nice charge Kev!!
Lance keeping them in the game
Lance on fire. It cannot last, right?
Well they took him out now…
I guess Lance brought his three point game today…
I kinda hate Jeff Teague…
D’Will is in better shape now. He’s a better PG than Irving. Not saying better player. But better PG. Better passer. Runs P&R better. Runs the offense better. Better entry passes. Etc.
No Kyrie or Kev for a while now… fourth quarter revisited…
If a lineup outplays another, hard to go against success.
It’s beautiful watching Lebron play with a true point guard
DWill schooling Kyrie…… if he is paying attention.
Ya. This is what I hoped he would bring as a backup pg.
D Will balling
DWill is the pick and roll master!
Cue white flame pic
EG beat you to it!
I tried to fill in while he was out. I don’t have the quick release EG does.
LOL
So happy
That Frye block from earlier…

Shump’s been a Demon defensively. God I hope they can move him.
Anyone know how many years we have Tavares signed for?
Two more after this one…
DWill is playing like old DWill…
False narrative from the announcers about him”resurrecting” his career here though. Lazy. (Nice to see him playing well though)
Always a false narrative with Hubie… he still thinks it’s 2003…
Looks like they told Lance to step into the shots he wasn’t taking Friday.
Lance with a dumb dumb foul.
Hey Lance…
