At 22 years old, Osman, who was the 31st pick in the 2015 NBA Draft (or first pick of the second round), brings length and athleticism to a Cavaliers team that was in dire need of those qualities off the bench last season. At 6’8″, Osman is known as a high motor player, and has been compared to players such as Tristan Thompson and Matthew Dellavedova in terms of the sheer effort he brings to the game. Now, Osman will be given the chance to prove that he belongs in the NBA and is ready to contribute on the court for the Eastern Conference Champions.
The question is, what kind of player will Osman be in the NBA? While Osman has had many fans here at Cavs: The Blog for a long time, no one can say for sure whether or not he will be able to have an impact, either next season or beyond. Osman has great size for a wing, has been an excellent defender in Euroleague play, and has shown the ability to get out in transition and slash to the rim, abilities that have been lacking on the Cavaliers’ bench. While he’s not the kind of player to run an offense through, Osman is a capable passer who will keep the ball moving.

On the other hand, he has been a mediocre shooter in a league where the three point line is much closer too the basket, is a poor rebounder for his size, and still needs to add some muscle to improve his effectiveness on both ends of the court. It’s also common for European players to struggle defensively when they first come to the NBA.

Whether Cedi Osman is able to help them in the regular season, postseason, or in a few years, this was a smart signing by the Cavaliers. Many analysts have said that this team needed to add youth and athleticism on the wing, and by signing Osman, they have done that. At worst, he will be able to develop at the NBA level, and soak up some regular season minutes, giving some veterans a rest. Considering the effort the Cavaliers have put into the regular season over the last couple of years, there should be plenty of minutes available to find out what Osman can do, as well as what he needs to improve upon to be the best player he can be. From what we’ve heard, effort won’t be the issue, so get read Cavalier fans, the Cedi Osman Experience is upon us.
I love the hype train that is Lonzo Ball. Dude can’t shoot, but because he gets a bunch of rebounds and assists in summer league, LeBron is scouting to see if he’ll leave Cleveland to join him in LA.
Not having Paul hurt. If Paul & Cedi are out there, we win easy. Pointer gets a camp invite for me. Who else?
Pretty much how it sounded from the Lakers announcers

Maybe give Pointer some run in the regular season?!?!?!?’
Summer league dreams are crushed…
Cavs facing a lot better team tonight. Not having Paul made a big difference. Williams would’ve been going against backups. Cassell couldn’t handle the backup PG role.
WOW… KAY FELDER!!! AHHAHA nice pass!!!
Sir Dominic Pointer with the strong drive to the rim!!!
TJ Williams couldn’t handle Brandon Paul’s role with the starters.
Got Felder back in quickly for offense. Cavs still gotta chance.
SirDOMINIC POINTER!!!! WOW
Backups struggling on offense.
Felder needs to learn how to keep his dribble alive in the paint a la Steve Nash/Kyrie/etc…. could find cutters to the basket instead of getting stuffed on those plays.
Good offense initiated by Felder twice in a row…. one miss one make.
Damn… Felder got a makeable shot and missed, then Thomas got the offensive rebound with an easy putback… blows the layup.
Felder finally gets a jumper to go…. it’s because he got hot with a couple of layups.
Smart play by Felder…. gets the foul on the 3.
My take on LAL: Ball and Kuzma are legit. Caruso’s this summer’s Delly.
What does that mean? Delly dominated summer league. Recall that the Cavs were unbeatable with him, until he had to go home to play for the national team.
It means that Caruso brings hustle, 3pt shooting, some playmaking, and energy. What else would it mean?
Felder with a nice transition layup. Felder needs to get his handles tighter though…
Felder with a ridiculous finish! Ball with 10 assists SMH.
Prather with a nice midrange jumper to get it within 1.
A lot better play on both ends of the court by the Cavs in the 2nd quarter. We gotta ball game!!! And frankly, LA should be blowing us out.
Nice finish by Felder! TAVERES WITH THE REJECTION!!! At least he can play some defense!
Williams gets a jumper to go.
SirDominic POINTER!!! Great post defense… then great drive and assist to Gill for the finish!!! Gill playing quietly well.
Dominic Pointer came in and the Lakers lead went away.
Pointer with a nice read…. goes the basket and gets fouled.
Another finish by Felder at the rim… he needs to keep attacking and not settle for contested jumpers.
Felder has a knack for finishing after contact
Damn good defense leads to Ball TO only to make bad pass and Ball steals it and get the assist on the 3.
Backups playing great defense and cut the lead down to 4.
Cassell with a swish off the pick.
These announcers are garbage!
Nice defensive play thereI think it was Cassell Jr.
Defense got shredded this quarter.
Felder is 2-9 in summer league. He’s a waste of a roster spot!
Bad comparison: Dubs payed for two second round picks and got two good players. Cavs could only do it once due to some rule, and got Felder.
