Live Thread: Cavs vs. Nets (#PickItUp)

Okay, this is going to be short and sweet because it’s going on midnight here in London and I’ve got an early plane to catch tomorrow…
Tonight, the Cavaliers play one of their more important games left on the schedule… not just because they need every win they can get for playoff positioning as the team’s new pieces continue the gelling process… but also because they’re facing the Brooklyn Nets. In case you’ve forgotten, the Cavs now own the much ballyhooed Nets pick (Nate’s even got a name for it, but I can’t remember with the late hour), so every loss dealt to Brooklyn increases the chances of getting more ping pong balls in this summer’s draft.
This game should be essentially found money for Cleveland, as they should be able to pick their collective game up (especially from three point land) and handle the surprisingly feisty Nets at the Q. Of course, nothing ever seems to go like we think it will in this Season of Why? So, expect a tough battle… even though Brooklyn is on the second night of a midwest back-to-back (they beat the Bulls last night to get to 20 wins on the season). One player update of note… Jeff Green will apparently sit out with lower back soreness… so no Uncle Jeff at the 5 tonight.
Prediction: The Cavs don’t allow the Nets to hit 21, as they pick up the victory… but maybe only win by a penny… 119-118.

IMO… Brooklyn is playing really well. Missed FTs and subpar TT and JR is the difference in the game. Bench doing well. Cedi, LBJ, and Hill doing well for the starters.

Last game, LeBron chose not to use a 2 for 1, and the Spurs took back the momentum to end the 3rd. Tonight, they jack up a shot with 8 seconds left on the clock when the shot clock was turned off.
What is this?
For as amazing as Lebron is…he never has understood the concept of a 2 for 1. If he does, I don’t think I have ever seen him implement it in a game…ever.

The Nets Kenny Atkinson gets 3 M a year while Lue gets more than twice at 7 M a year. Outcoaching Atkinson is too much to ask of Lue!
Glossing over the HC salaries, only Pops, Thibs, Doc Rivers and Ron Jeremy (SVG) are paid higher than Lue. All four of them also dabble in front office capacities, so that makes Lue the actual highest paid basketball coach in the world! *¥£*^~ !!!

When I watch TT these days I am starting to feel the same disdain I did when I watched Rose. Definitely close to making Team Draino.
Lue’s lack of fire permeates the whole team. Especially since organizationally this is a must win game.
