Summer League Live Thread: Cavs vs. Bulls

Wakanda Forever, Cavs Fans! The wine and gold take on the Bulls at 9:30 EST, Saturday on ESPN2. It should be a fun one, as the Bulls have some intriguing players including rumored Cavs target, Duke’s Wendell Carter Jr., the No. 22 pick of 2018, Boise State’s Chandler Hutchison, and undrafted free agent, Maryland’s Melo Tremble. The Bulls have eight undrafted free agents, four from 2018, three from 2017, and one from 2016. Especially fun: The have a guard named Matt Williams, and a center named Matt Willms. That won’t get confusing at all.

I know it’s only summer league, but Kevin Knox looked like he has the 2nd most potential of anybody in this draft class, after Jackson, who legitimately looks like he could be Gobert with a 3 pt shot. Knox has Lebron/Giannis attributes. Unfortunately for him, he was drafted by the Knicks, but I guess we’ll see. Ayton and Bagley look like they are going to depend on their point guards and rebounding a lot, and neither looks like an elite defender. Doncic isn’t playing. Cavs need to work with Sexton on his offball movement. Half the time he doesn’t have the ball he was standing on the far side of the court with his hands up calling for the ball. Other than that, he was pretty solid once again. Passing wasn’t as present, but he had a couple nice ones even though the Cavs offense wasn’t really running as smoothly without Cedi. Eh. Zizic had more lift in the regular season last year. I’m not worried about him looking slow against carter, partly because Carter looked really good. I’m not worried about Sexton off ball to much. Just a function of limited play book. He does need to work on finishing. Tries to finish without the backboard too much.
Not worried about Sexton too much. But I’m not sold on Zizic as anything more than a useful big off the bench.
That’s not nothing.
I’d be happy about it after how he looked in summer league for the celtics last year.

Because if he retains his job, he’s going to have to endure all the Lebron related drama nonsense.
I say Lebron is middle of the pack as far as his problems. He’s still got Lavar Ball, Lance Stephenson and Rondo to deal with, plus all the speculation the Lakers are gonna Blatt him as soon as Lakers start underwhelming.

I don’t remember that part. Maybe something about them becoming less reliant on the 3, but he mostly talked about them becoming more dynamic and having multiple playmakers.
