Live Thread: Cavs @ Pacers (#Developing)
2019-11-01Evening Cavs fans! Well, it’s rare these days for me to have a Friday night free, so color me excited to be able to actually watch a full 48 minutes of this young and developing team. I got some initial exposure to John Beilein’s darkroom process on Wednesday, as his competitive mix of vet post-players, neophyte guards and mostly converted “wings” came together to create a pretty picture against the Bulls.
Going to Bankers Life Fieldhouse is never an easy trip for any Cavalier squad, so this next one should be a decent next test for the wine and gold. The Pacers just finally got their first win of the season on the road against the Nets on Wednesday, and have already taken a short handed beating from the Cavs in the early going. They’ll still be without standout star Victor Oladipo, and are also down a big man with Myles Turner sitting out with an ankle sprain. Though, they will have swingman Jeremy Lamb baaaa-ck in the mix.
The Cavs will try to continue to ride the shoulders of their dynamic PF duo of Kevin Love and Tristan Thompson, while hoping for further development from their young backcourt. We may even get a Brandon Knight sighting with Matthew Dellavedova out. Regardless, it will be great to see the team’s progress in sharper focus as the competition increases.
One other Cavalier development that happened today featured @CavsDan doing something he’d never done before…
ESPN story on Cleveland GM Koby Altman agreeing to a long-term contract extension. https://t.co/r5nLVdJGrV

That’s right… by extending Altman, Dan issued a statement of confidence not achieved by any GM since he took ownership of the team in 2005. And, whether you like the move or not, the one thing it does provide this re-developing organization is some modicum of consistency going forward.
In the immediate future, I see the Cavs struggling early, but eventually finding a way to come through in the end, 107-104.
Catch all the action starting at 7pm on FSO… and see what develops.
Welp….for Beilein, a teachable game?
Yes, if he can teach Garland to stop shooting floaters…
Garland needs to set up others and shoot threes….period…
Big trey by YB…
Lamb to the hole on repeat…
No TT… gonna be hard to get stops now…
Looked pretty straight up to me… sucks
Just not enough stops…
One last roll of the dice – cap’n bandaid!!
Sadly, I think it’s academic from here…
Wide open look for Holliday…
I’d LOVE Sexton if he was 6’5″…
Love and JC keeping the Cavs in range…

This is a game Garland is going to want to forget.
Garland is killing them tonight…
Refs still not helping…
So I guess Bitadze doesn’t commit fouls then?
Too many fricking turnovers in a game like this…
Wow! Strong looking three by KPJ…
Porter stepping up!
Good start. Back to one possesion.
Err, two

Tristan ‘Magic’ Thompson…
Too many frustrating stretches on offense.
This game is still winnable, they just need to put things together.
Gotta say, they miss Delly’s calm in the second unit.
ONLY GOOD TURNOVER IS AN “APPLE ” ONE : )

I do like that Beilein doesn’t ride anyone… no more 40 minute nights for guys…
Thank god…
Too many turnovers…
LNJ with some authority!
No Love, no TT… no dice…
Can’t even make FTs now… aye-ya-ya
This game is very winnable….
Good ball movement… Cedi just can’t hit the corner three…
BEEN BUSY WITH GRANDKIDS—CAN’T WATCH THE GAME—-SAW GARLAND IS -OPHER / 8 / OUCH —-MAN I KNOW IT IS STILL EARLY / 5TH GAME –BUT SHOULD THERE BE ANY CONCERNS WITH GARLAND —AND I HAVE BEEN ONE OF HIS BIGGEST SUPPORTERS—-JUSTHOPING HE JUST NEEDS TO HAVE A ‘ BREAKOUT / CONFIDENCE ” GAME
It took Sexton half the season to show development last year. Give him time I think.
He’s in a rough patch right now…but he can shoot. He just needs to get past this.
Sexton not getting any clearance from LNJ’s picks.
Foul trouble and Sabonis bringing TT back to earth…
If Garland could even shoot 40%, Cavs would be leading…
Nance has got to hit those…
Cap’n Bandaid on the board
Not a foul… zero contact…
Pretty happy with Sexton this season so far…
Great D!
Good D that possession by Sexton…

KEEP FEEDING LOVE PLEASE!
+1 billion…
Sabonis getting the better of TT underneath…
Another double double for Love…
Young Bull with a tough two…
The Garland Floater…
Yikes
Ha. Yeah his in between game is pretty poor. Was noted in college scouting. Also not a great finisher.
He needs to take threes when he has them…but he looks like he has no confidence in his shot…
Take that 3, Garland!!
Cavs with active hands…
Almost an and one for Cedi…
Like a diesel, maybe they take a half to wake up?
More shots for Kevin please!
Thats the start they needed!
Wow… Cavs storm back to take the lead…
Deep… in the Bankers Life Fieldhouse!
Great steal by Sexton…
Lov3!
This game is eerily similar to the very first one I ever recapped… stuck in the mud
Man, that was one ugly second quarter.
Brogdon and Dipo might be the best back court in the EC when Vic is healthy…
Hoping this Cavs team are stronger in the half like last game.
Tom and eg were right. The Cavs never play well in Indy.
Yeah, I was being optimistic in the intro…

Bench was not helpful…
KPJ has looked better…he has been terrible so far tonight…
Rough quarter…but only down 5…
Really rough second quarter…
Tuning in….just in time for the break….
Cavs with only 10 points this quarter…
Should probably get more shots for the bigs since Indy doesn’t have many tonight…
