Live Thread: Cavs vs Nets
2021-01-20NBA Champion, Kyrie Irving is back in Cleveland! He also gets to spend two days on the jewel of Lake Eerie as the Cavs take on his Nets tonight and Friday. He’ll be joining Durant and Harden as three of the best offensive players ever to play together get to take the floor for the first time. Taking them on? Collin Sexton! Who rejoins his squad after missing a few weeks. Darius Garland and Dylan Windler are still on the bench and will hopefully return Friday No ETA on Love or Delly
Nic Claxton is out for the Nets and Spencer Dinwiddie is out for the year. Unfortunately, Kevin Porter Junior may never take the floor again in a Cavs uni after last weekend’s unpleasantness, but newly minted Cavs Taurean Prince and Jarrett Allen will play for Cleveland tonight. It should be fun!
Also back in the Fieldhouse? Austin Carr returning from Covid protocol!

Sexton is such the anti-Kyrie in terms of personality. So glad Sexton’s on our side and shocked I am saying that considering what we were all saying when Kyrie got traded

Zone worked well that half. Very heavy looks. Maybe the most percentage they played in any game thus far. Which sort of makes sense given the three guys on the nets and trying to keep them out of the paint. Befuddled them for awhile. Broke down a few times when they got middle, but more often than not worked.
Complements nance’s strength on defense a ton. Allows him to play free safety to some extent.
HARDEN WITH ONLY 2 1ST HALF SHOTS / I EXPECT THAT TO CHANGE IN THE 2ND HALF —–CAVS ARE GOING TO HAVE TO WEATHER A “PT STORM ‘ HERE BY THE NETS —IT WILL COME

Nance and Drummond both bad, no rebounding from them at all… getting dominated on the boards by KD, Harden, and Jordan.
Probably has something to do with the wild amount of zone they played that half.
and not crashing the misses on offense, especially when we’re shooting so poorly.
Cedi and Sexton both good….. Okoro playing like a rookie on offense.
Allen +9 plus/minus in 10 minutes, 5 rebounds, 2 blocks, 1 steal, 1-1 FG.
Huge impact on d for about 3 minutes during that run.
Allen will love Garland, I think…he’s a pretty classic roller…
Yeah. Basically the one guy, other than delly who might be able to get him the ball, or any big the ball on rolls somewhat consistently.

Allen had a huge impact on d. Couple great contests on perimeter and some blocks challenges on interior. Prince has looked shaky. Sexton cold.
Zone has been good at times but has had some breakdowns when the nets have gotten the all important middle with either mismatches or getting past the two guys up top.
Dre mixed bag. Some decent passes. Some buckets, but forcing against jordan.
Nance has had some good deflections.
Want to see cedi continue.
