Live Thread: Kings at Cavaliers
2015-01-30It looks like LeBron and his sore right wrist will return to the lineup against a struggling Sacramento squad. Even with King James holding court, the Cavaliers will likely look again to All-Star, Kyrie Irving as a primary option. Fresh off an NBA season-league and career high 55 points, Uncle Drew will attempt to extend the Cavaliers’ win streak to nine with his Kyridiculous play.
Kevin Love is also nursing a sore knee. The Cavs desperately need all of its frontcourt depth against first time All-Star DeMarcus Cousins. Boogie destroyed the Wine and Gold the last time out. Adam Silver rightfully chose Cousins over a host of deserving Western Conference players. Though the Kings have struggled since the inexplicable firing of ex-Cav coach Mike Malone, Cousins has continued to play well. Timofey Mozgov made his first start as a Cav in the first meeting between the teams. The Cleveland faithful hope for a better result. Sound off.
Last night I stopped for a cold one on the way home from the office. The TV was showing a “top 10 bloopers of the day” from the entire sports world. At #2 was our old pal Dion, demonstrating the art of self – defense on an uncontested layup. Then he got the loose ball and forced an air ball into about three bigs rather than toss it to the guy open about five feet from the basket. The people in the stands were all doing facepalms.
I got to go to the game tonight courtside! One of the best experiences in my life!!!
nice!!!!! did u get any good pictures?
Love our starting five. But this offseason, cavs really need to go out and get three high energy, defensively sound players. Backup PG, SF, and Center.
I love Andy but he’s a third string PF.
that would be back ups at all three positions, hence bench boosting.
K Love giving Delly and Shump a shoutout for his defensive play at the end of the 4th… nice!
Damian Lillard showed why he’s not an All Star tonight against ATL. 6-20 (1-9 from three) with six turnovers. Would have been nice for him to play with a chip on his shoulder and end the Hawks’ streak…
Doesn’t bring it on defense either… that’s my problem with him.
He just pouts about being “disrespected”. That is why he will never be a great player.
Lillard was once a hungry player. A short guy coming from a relatively unknown school. He played hard to prove himself and he did.
He’s not as hungry as he used to be.
Hard to find much to complain about from this game. Aside from wanting the bench to prevent Kyrie and LBJ from having to come back in for a couple of possessions toward the end, it was a pretty complete team win.
Was really cool to see KLove have such a good game on both ends. Bodes well for his trip back to Minny tomorrow…
Blatt was right…. rebounding was the problem tonight. So were turnovers…. Now Blatt is in the mode of pushing this team, not settling, which is great. Don’t get too high, don’t get too low.
Blatt is the MVP of post-game interviews. And it’s not close.
I love when he asked (Joe Vardon I think) what he thought was the difference on defense… Classic
Loved it as well… a brilliant guy, with a sense of humor!
Also liked that he got a little annoyed about guys questioning him about LBJ playing tonight… I like it when he gets a little fiery
Yeah…. that’s what dumb questions should get!
Yea, really enjoy watching Blatt’s post-game interviews. He’s so intelligent and well-spoken. Man, once he gets more acclimated to this narcissistic player-first league, he’s gonna guide this team to the promise land.
Held the Kings to 36% FG, 17% 3PT FG!!! WOW!
Anybody want to guess what mike brown is thinking now? He is still getting paid but I bet he is saying in the mirror “team defense! Team defense!”
Everything on offense except the finish looks good with the bench. Unfortunately, you have to put the ball in the basket. But great win tonight! Won it with our defense 100%.
Which is the only question about this team…. if they can play this kind of defense, they have legitimate championship potential.
Where is cols? He has been saying that since October.
NINE STRAIGHT WINS!!! AND THE REVENGE TOUR 2015 IS NEARLY COMPLETE!
At first I thought this was the nomad typing. I like how nomad switches points mid sentence. I do that in my mind all the time.
Hell Yeah!!! 9 Straight!!! Go Cavs!!! Not feeling Grumpy tonight!!!
I vote for a permanent change to ShumpyOldMan!
I second the motion! All in favor say “aye”!
Third that fellas. When does shump move into starting 5 and let jr swish on the 2 nd team?
Eh . . . I think it should be ShumpyIman.
You probably don’t feel like an OldMan either.
Alright I’ll stick with it…I’m loving what Shump brings to the table…
Dellavadova just bought 20,000 Chalupas!
HAHAHAHA Delly!!! MY MAN!
Delly delivers the chalupas!
CHALUPAS!!!!!!!! There you go Nate!
CHA-LU-PAS! CHA-LU-PAS! CHA-LU-PAS!!!
U-G-L-Y Delly drive right there…
He hasn’t figured out when to shoot…. he shoots when he shouldn’t, and passing up open looks earlier.
HEEEEEEYYY!!! Delly gets one to fall finally!!
ATL going to win AGAIN after a 36 point fourth quarter…
Their confidence is sky high right now…. they just slammed the door right there!!!
Man Nate would have seen a serious jam there.
JR Swish with the dagger…Game over!
JR SWISHHHHHHH DAGGGGGGGGGGEEEEERRRRRRR!
Great chase down by Shump! Probably should only have Kyrie handle the ball with LBJ’s bad wrist
Gotta love the Shump!!
LOVE the name change! ShumpyOldMan!!
I’ve always liked Shumpert…Watched him play for GT and he gave my Tar Heels fits…Was an incredible defender in college…I was psyched when the Cavs made that trade…I’ve always liked JR too, I live near Denver and saw him play with the Nuggets when they were good and he could ball, just got lost in the ineptitude of the Knicks organization…
You should definitely hook up with Cols and watch a game together if you live in Denver…
Shump bails out LeBron.
And now LBJ is back on the floor… little premature on the garbage time….
This game is not over, we need to stop settling for jump shots.
Good closeout by Miller
Come on guys! I want Nate to get his Chalupa!
Take out miller and put in mozgov.
Sadly, this is why the Cavs probably need one more PG to help out…
Miller should’ve shot his open look! They’ll be fine, just need to run the offense, and rebound on defense.
Damn… looks like they might have to put Kyrie back in…
SHUMP!!! AWESOME MOVE!
YEAH! 7 and a half minutes of GARBAGE TIME! LOVE IT!
I hope this unit plays defense. Because the Kings might try to make a game of it. That is if they take out Ryan Hollins.
I believe LeBron would like to come out of this game.
We want the SHUMP. Gotta have that SHUMP. Ow.
We need the SHUMP. Gotta have that SHUMP!
Nice one U-Dog….
I believe Shump has his confidence back!!!
I really love it when Shump drives and scores
I bet thibideau is having a coronary. I don’t think he thinks they have the mental toughness to grind out a season with their talent. Too many injuries.
You imagine when the cavs meet the Bulls again. For some reason I deleted the first part of my post
Cavs have had the Bulls number this year, even early on when they were struggling…
Philly beat Minny tonight. Wig was 7-17…
Who enjoyed JRs step back jumper on the baseline tonight or KLove NOT pulling a Reggie Miller going old school knocking down a long 2…This is my favorite game this year…
Agreed…This is the first game I’ve felt Love has really brought it…Way more aggressive offensively, going inside and out instaed of camping at the 3 pt line and his d was solid…
Mozgov has just changed the game with his presence in the middle too…
Love may have been aggro… But everything flowed… Everything… The CAVS offense showcased something tonight… They ran the offense thru KLove…. That is powerful… I am not scared of the Spurs, Hawks or thw the Warriors.

Blatt, Klove continuing doing the smart thing, Lebron acting like an 8th grader, Kyrie playing defense, Delly being 6’4″ and buttstuffs Patty Mills, Moz changes everything… JRs step back jumpers, and Schump’s ever gaining confidence. And lets not forget the rest of our team just playing hard… I.E. Marion and Miller.
God, I love this team.
And Schump’s shot in the 4th….TALENT
Time to empty the bench….
Just keep Dellavadova and Mike Miller on opposite sides of the court.
Excellent defensive energy. It’s like they’re tied instead of up big.
WOW WOW WHAT A MOVE BY THE KING!!!
Absolutely Ridiculous…
Some craftiness by the Master!!!
Now you see it. Now you don’t!
It is really refreshing to watch the Cavs since LBJ’s return…They really seem to have taken such a huge step forward both offensively and defensively…Before the trade and LBJ’s two week hiatus I felt like they were really hard to watch…Ugly frustrating basketball…But now they are playing an impressive exciting brand of basketball to the point that I don’t want to miss a minute… and lebrun looks like a different player since the break…hard to imagine lots of people were saying he was never gonna be the same…the two weeks off was the best thing that could have happened for… Read more »
Love that upbeat post by the GrumpyOldMan!!!
Somehow dion needs to find his way to philly. Carter Williams is his old running mate and the hometown faithful will probably like his tenacity
I would take LBJ out at this point…
Perfect time too. Just embarrassed sessions
If not for turnovers, Cavs would be winning this by 30
I like this lineup right now… they can switch at every position.
It’s hard to believe this is the same team that got blown out by the Kings a few weeks ago
It isn’t the same team.
Only the same zip code.
Totally agree… just a completely different energy and look
I don’t think I want to add anybody to this team…except maybe a tough guy for when Mozgov gets in foul trouble, or to match up with guys like Perkins.
I don’t want to give minutes to anybody else.
Totally agree… just need a big man for fouls, that’s it…. might as well have Haywood do it.
Haywood’s not capable of even that
Stauskas no points. 0-2. I saw youtube videos where he hit like 45 of 50 from three.
LBJ FOR THREEEEEE! Man I’ve never seen him let the ball roll past half court like that…
I will be watching them in Indianapolis on 27FEB15. @EvilGenius, actually I have forgiven Grant entirely. Without Waiters, we wouldn’t have the team we have now. So, I give him a pass to live a full life. He is still retarded though… Hahahahahaha.
GO CAVS.
LOL… Man, Brandon, you are one polarized dude! But I’m glad you’ve given Grant a pass so we don’t have to read about his untimely demise on the evening news… ;)
HAHAHA EG speaking the truth!
Thank God Griffin kept him during the Love trade… Both trades looking FANTASTIC right now… Wish they could’ve kept Wiggins, but that was the only way the Wolves were gonna part with Love.
Wiggins averages six points a game for us this year.
Agreed… There was an article that came out from 538 on espn suggesting that his ceiling’s not that high… 15/5/5 career guy… which is not Love territory.
Bring us some C:tB karma in Indy!
Poor Casspi… I thought that guy had so much potential
When Shump starts to really get it going, look the hell out!
No kidding…. Griffin FTW!!!
SHUMP FOR THREEEEE!!!!
Cavs up by 20… should be a good night to rest LBJ and KLove in the fourth…
Another huge game for Mozzy and J.R.
And another above average game for SHUMP!
It looks like Mozgov and the Cavs D has taken some of the fight out of Cousins. I guess he’s a freight train once he gets going.
Looks like Lillard is taking his frustrations out on ATL tonight… hope they end the streak
Seems like ever since the trade the Cavs have just been so much more cohesive…Way more energy on defense and just less of a selfish mode of basketball…I wonder if just the exit of the me first Waiters and addition of players ready to play for a contender shifted the energy just enough to push the Cavs toward more of a team first approach…
Totally agree Grumpy… mentioned that earlier re: Waiters…. and I love Waiters.
That might have been part of it. But somebody — can’t remember who — wrote that the effort wasn’t great before the trades because the players knew they didn’t have the pieces they needed.
You’d like them to be more professional than that, but they’re human.
Ah, thats what a free throw goin in looks like
All you need is LOVE!
In tennis, love = 0.
That’s why he went with the number since 42 was retired….
JR and Love with the sweet two-man game — JR passing up a 3 to re-post Love. And Love with two baskets in the third quarter.
Really like what Love is showing tonight…Seems like a different player from the rest of the season…Way more aggression and energy…Would Love it if he keeps this up in the second half of the season…
Love that sequence there!!! JR gave the ball back on a Love mismatch, let him repost, then and one!
Damn looks like at least 4 or 5 said the same damn thing hahahaha!
Love and smith found a rhythm. Griffin is looking prime for exec of the year.
Great repost pass by JR
KLOVE WITH THE SWEET AND ONE!!!!
KLove is an animal reborn
