Live Thread: Raptors @ Cavs, Game 1
2016-05-17The Cavaliers finally get to recommence their 2016 playoff run tonight against the Toronto Others… er, Raptors.
The Raptors hit The Q trying to keep the momentum of their closeout game against the Miami Heat going. That win propelled the team into the franchise’s first ever appearance in the Eastern Conference Finals and a date with the Cavaliers. Despite winning the season series against the Cavs 2-1, Toronto finished a game behind the wine and gold for the Eastern Conference’s top seed and have not looked nearly as sharp as their Conference Finals opponent in advancing through the first two rounds of the playoffs.
DeMar DeRozan leads the Raptors in scoring this postseason at 20 points a game and right behind him is his starting backcourt mate and resident bulldog, Kyle Lowry, at 18.6 points and 6.7 assists per game. The two Raptors All-Stars are shooting just 36% from the floor over 14 playoff games, though, as the entire team has struggled to score the ball. The Raptors also took a hit when they lost starting center Jonas Valenciunas to an ankle injury. Valenciunas is out for, at least, the first two games of this series.
The Cavs have been off since May 8th — a span of nine days — since their Conference Semi-Finals series against the Atlanta Hawks that saw Cleveland creep back into the conversation as a possible title contender, regardless of which team comes out of the West. The biggest question facing the Cavs is whether or not they will be able to keep up the torrid three-point shooting that carried them through much of the first two rounds.
If the Cavs have any rust, they’ll have to shake it off quick if they want to avoid a let down against a Raptors team determined to show that they are more than just the “Other” of the 2016 NBA Playoffs.
Whelp
Dude, everything is awesome.

I really wanted them to get to 99 so they could have 33 points in every quarter in honor of Channing’s 33rd birthday…
http://www.fenton.com/new/wp-content/uploads/33-candles1.jpg
I’d say 99 wins it, might as well clear the bench in the 4th to make EGs dream come true.
Frye, my goodness!!!!
Channing Frye doesn’t even move the net on that trey! Happy Birthday C Frye!

Shump’s overdribbles pays off!! LoL
I do believe that Frye just turned out the lights….
Delly went from the lane to a corner closeout and back to the lane to affect DeRozan’s shot on that drive.

Hey Big Smack… No, no, no

Catching up on some buckets…

Lol, these calls on Scola…..
WE HAVE NOT YET BEGUN TO PEAK!
https://twitter.com/espn/status/732757037839450112
Toronto puts in Scola…I’m done.
Argentinian Russell Brand…
Just like Russel, his career came and went.
Biyombo keeps this up we might see Moz in the 4th with a message.
The goal for the rest of the night: no injuries, no suspensions.
Scola is only in there to foul
Biyombo only has 2 fouls. He’s getting away with WAY TOO MUCH!!
Love scores in the post
https://vine.co/v/i0TZ5ap90rv
Kyrie goes through DeRozan like a pass rusher on his way to the quarterback and feeds LeBron on the break
https://vine.co/v/i0TZzZD0bP5
Biyombo got a mean streak to him!!
Biyombo playing rough tonight…
That’s all he’s really got… plus he thinks he’s some kind of enforcer…
Love steals from Lowry, feeds Irving

Cavs with some grand theft Spaulding this quarter!
This Toronto team is garbage. 12-0. 2016 is 216’s time for Ship! 2nd try to win 16 games. 216 gonna win it. Born and raised in Cleveland, moving in July. 216 gonna win it. All healthy and loving the chemistry. 216 gonna win it.
Let’s go for 16-0 post season. Normally a realist but the Stars have aligned, this is our year.
Go Cavs!
Next step is to change the awful logos!
Things getting really chippy out there. They’re taking a lot of cheap shots at Lebron, and flopping on everything themselves
That’s what you have to resort to when you are the vastly inferior team… just ask the Celtics from last year…
Dunk on em Young Fella!
Raps getting nice and dirty
I want Love get 6 more rebounds for a double double, keep the streak alive
James with his first miss of the night, but gets the follow.
https://vine.co/v/i0TaWdVEKiv
I like what LeBron’s doing but Kyrie’s really showing me somehing
2Pat is really going for his Oscar tonight…
Place would have erupted with a JR Swish there…
KLove with the terrific steal!
What are the Canadian Oscars, the Junos? Cause DeRozan just won one.
These dudes are some chumps
That would qualify as a flagrant on Biyombo if they looked at it.
That’s a flagrant!! Hello??
It’s the pity non-review from the refs.
https://vine.co/v/i0Ta3UTvY9F
Good defense.
Irving with another Shumpian strip
LeBron gets a back-door lob from JR. He still hasn’t taken a shot outside the restricted area.
https://vine.co/v/i0TzBnnFldM
DeMarre Carroll unhappy. http://www.metalsucks.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Predator-Face.jpg
Excellent!
LOL that’s ice cold man
Jeff Van Gundy has become less annoying over the years.
And that’s NOT a flagrant on Carroll? C’mon man…
Kyrie with the shooter’s touch
https://vine.co/v/i0Tu1UlJjZm
Did Carrol just choke Lebron?
kyrie got fouled there
James gets the Cavs on the board in the second half with an and-1
https://vine.co/v/i0TB3a6wpaa
JR struggling on offense. Doing good on defense
I think that call on Love us BS. Patterson was basically hugging him…
Just 1 point for the Raps out of that 2-shots-plus-ball possession.
Dang, that’s a stiff elbow
Kevin Love got a flagrant? C’mon… There wasn’t enough force for him to fall
Nice sell job by Patterson. Pretty weak flagrant there.
I’m with JVG on this… Flagrants are really dubious this year…
bad start again for the Cavs, basically all points in da paint, make them a jump shooting team
Crummy start to the 3rd…
Here we go….. 3rd quarter lapses
I think the game plan is: Biyombo is not good. Go to the hole. Repeat.
Who will be the king of the 3rd quarter???
CLE 67%, 34 points in da paint, 9 fast break points
In Cols fashion:
Kyrie>>>>>Lowry
He definitely is tonight…
Cavs were 17-of-21 shooting inside the paint in the first half on the Raptors. They only missed 12 shots and got three of those back on offensive rebounds.
Jalen’s advice for the Raptors: try to not lose by 30.
hahaha! probably sound advice.
As great as the offense is playing, that defensive lineup during the first six minutes of the second quarter has me salivating.
They were so locked in!
totally agree, when they subbed out that’s when Toronto started scoring
Hard to pick a favorite basket from that. 1st half. But that mad cut from Delly for an a nd 1 was amazing
I’ve gotta go with KI’s drive and crazy layup, or the KI to TT oop….but a lot of highlight plays for sure…maybe the Cavs will break Vine tonight…
That was pretty cool! So much this season, Kyrie and TT just didn’t connect for those lobs.
Here’s a screen cap I got of Lebron in the first half: http://www.robotplunger.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Jurassic-Park-Trex-eating-Raptor.jpg
Anyone who thinks the king would go west is a fool.
Kawhi Leonard got more MVP votes than LBJ!?!?! HAHAHAHA.
Ridiculous! So many politics in ESPN.
