Live Thread: Cavs vs. Blazers (#GoingFor3)
2019-02-25Do you remember the last time the Cleveland Cavaliers won three games in a row? Well, it wasn’t this calendar year… and, in fact not even this current season. It was all the way back on May 7th, when the wine & gold forced the LeBronto Raptors into playoff extinction with a 4-0 sweep. You have to go back a month prior to that to find the last regular season three game streak… to April 5th against the Washington Wizards, which actually finished off a six game tear for the Cavs.
Point is, it’s been a while since this team was the type that could win back-to-back-to-back contests with ease. In fact, this is only the third opportunity the Cavs have had all season to attempt such a run by stringing even two consecutive victories together. A large part of what’s made this latest one possible is the return of Kevin Love. No matter if he’s hitting shots or not, Kev has so far instantly elevated the rebounding, passing and all around play of the team. His presence has also seemingly had a positive effect on the younger members of the squad.
Tonight, the Cavs must attempt to get their three the hard way, as the final opponent of the home stand is the relatively hot Portland Trailblazers. The same Blazers who torched the Cavs in the Rip City, 129-112 a little over a month ago. The challenge will be to stop Portland’s inside out game, and try to slow down Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum and Jusuf Nurkic. As an added bonus, old pal Rodney Hood returns to town… possibly looking to show up his former team.
Prediction: Yes, the Cavs are better now that Love has returned, but three is a crowd when it comes to Cavalier win streaks and Lottery odds… the wine & gold keep it close for three, but the streak ends when the fourth quarter arrives… 116-108.

Absolutely. Karma coming around to him. I believe KD made a poingnant comment when he said he understands why other young stars may not be jumping at the chance to go play with LBJ. Can’t wait for the Lakers to strike out again on big name free agents this summer.
The Trade Show are down to 11th in the west. Though they still have a shot. Not looking good.
Towns with a monster game for Minny. Wonder if his accident experience will light a fire. Would love to see DRose in the POs.
I like how you’re thinking about Minny…. go Wolves!
I’m not sure, but if I had to guess, this would be the first time since his rookie season that James’s team was in the lottery, should that come to pass, of course.
Lakers lose to Grizz, with I helieve zero bench points in 2nd half. Think of how good that bench would be with Melo, JR Smith, and a coach like Jason Kidd…
LMAOOO…. that’s awesome. Team has totally quit on LeBron, and LeBron quit on them.
He aint the GOAT. That he thinks he is shows me his BBIQ may be overrated too.
Suns win. Damn. Was hoping they’d make a run at 26.
Meanwhile……
Lakers losing in Memphis 3rd Q. Brooklyn handing it to the Spurs. Suns up late in Miami. Hawks hanging with Harden in Houston. Minny up on Sac. Bulls down to Bucks.
Lakers are gonna win.
4 back of 8th seed if Clips win…
