Live Thread: Cavs vs Nuggets
2020-03-07It’s another Saturday Night, Cavs fans! The Nuggets are in town, and they’ve won six of the last ten. Before they squeaked by Charlotte on Thursday, and lost a surprising game to the Dubs on Tuesday. Cleveland sports a cast of wounded tonight. Kevin Porter Jr., Darlius Garland, Andre Drummond, and Dante Exum are all out, while Dean Wade is questionable. Tristan Thompson and Alfonzo McKinnie return to the lineup, tough!
For Denver only Bol Bol is listed as out, which saves us from some needed comedy. Denver should have the depth to run Cleveland, tonight, and I expect the Cavs’ limited bench to give way late to a 116-108 Nuggets victory. But it should be entertaining. Go Cavs!
Regarding Delly’s big night, and big 3. As awful as his 3 ball has been this year, it has been going in the right direction. Under 10% in early December. 16% at the AS break. 35% in the nine games after the ASB. Still at a woeful 20.5% for the year. But if that 35% in the last 9 holds, or improves, over the next 19 games, it bodes well for his rebuilt shot next year.

Spurs without Aldridge, Poetl, Walker, and probably Belinelli tonight.
Looks like Drummond is back. Porter, Garland, Exum, Wade and, of course, Windler still out.
Bunched at the bottom. Wins, (last 10 record), remaining strength of schedule; (losses, if tied on Ws):
15 = GSW (3-7) 6th
———
18 = Cavs (5-5) 26th
19 = ATL (4-6) 29th (46)
19 = NY (2-8) 27th (44)
19 = Minny (3-7) 11th (43)
20 = Detroit (1-9) 7th
21 = Chicago (2-8) 4th
22 = Charlotte (5-5) 18th
23 = Washington (4-6) 1st
I think there is a good chance we move up (down in the draft) a bit. If we get Dre & KPJ back soon, maybe more than a bit.
YOU ARE TOTALLY CORRECT BUCKAROOO——-NIGHT OUT WITH FAMILY / FRIENDS —-OF COURSE DUE TO “SETTING ARE CLOCKS AHEAD ” THIS OL FART HIT THE HAY EARLY ——–FANTASTIC WIN —GO CAVS —SAW DELLYS 14 ASISTS –WOW —THINK HE IS FIGHTING TO BE RETAINED BY THE CAVS
Despite all the injuries, 5-5 in the last 10. Yeah, we got some teams when they were injured, too. But we had EIGHT MEN OUT the other night. Yikes.
Good to get TT & Fonzie back tonight. Hopefully Drummond tomorrow. Garland and/or Porter next week sometime.
wchn on the ytube.. nice.. very nice.. NOMAD must have been self-medicating with the rolling rocks and the custom pacifier mouth piece on this one.. future looking a little better, assuming corona is contained.. oldsters.. take your vit d (800 iu) and get some zinc in your system (preferably with some copper).. and of course, have a cold one, or two

Love it… didn’t resign Butler, didn’t draft Tatum (or Ball)… loving the process!!!
Jimmy knows chumps when he sees them. Wanted out of Minny (Towns & Wiggins). Wanted out of Philly (Embiid & Simmons).
He busts his butt and expects the same from other guys. And he’ll let you know. Love me some Butler.
Not gonna lie. R u oting for the Dubs.
don’t know why, but i wanna philly lose too! LMFAOo
Got your wish
I grew up a 76er fan. Dr. J. George McGinnis. Caldwell Jones. World B. Free. Darryl Dawkins. Henry Bibby. Joe Jellybean Bryant. Doug Collins. Steve Mix. Mike Dunleavy. Mo Cheeks. Andrew Toney. Bobby Jones. Marc Ivaroni. Lionel Hollins. Moses Malone. Clint Richardson. Charles Barkley. AI. Mutombo.
Cannot get behind this bunch.
btw, 110 Ortg tonight, which is average but well above season average, and 107 Drtg, which is easily top 10 and orders of magnitude better than the season average.
I’ll say this, Denver’s d was pretty bad for most of the game until the fourth. But not sure we’d have been able to take advantage of it if Delly had not been running the show for much of the game.
As far as our d, we had some nice moments, but also a truckload of breakdowns leading to layups and dunks. Granted, that is partially due to Denver’s system. On the other hand I feel like teams should get how to defend Denver if they have a fairly stout and energetic post defender like TT on Jokic. Basically stay home on your guy when Jokic has the ball. Don’t follow the cutter around a Jokic handoff screen. Don’t overplay anyone off ball when Jokic has the ball. Don’t double Jokic if you have a strong defender guarding him in the high or low post. And always anticipate quick give and gos or backdoors even when Jokic is not involved initially.
Transition d had its ups and downs.
oh yeah, basically Delly was the difference in this game… he’s one of the best defensive guards in the NBA along with an elite assist ratio, and coincidentally those are the two areas Sexton is simply not competent in.
Marquis Chriss with a game saving block!!!
Quiche!
you da man Nate!!!

That last pass from Delly to Thompson to earn him free throws was the perfect example of his value. It’s not an otherworldly athletic play, it’s not even a difficult pass to know is open. Just an intentionality to that play that our young guards can learn
You know, I would not mind keeping Delly as a 3rd PG. As long as you don’t expect him to score much.
Just to have a guy who can actually run the offense.
He can also guard both guard spots, is a solid switch defender, and this is a career low year shooting threes. Gotta think that will go back up.
That was so much fun.
That was a good win. All 8 guys chipped in something. Still some warts (22 TOs, 6 from YB), but scrappy. 41 pts allowed in 2nd half. 32 dimes. Individual stuff:
Delly: 7/6/14. 3-4 FG, 1-2 3s. 4 TO. 1 STL.
Sexton: 25/7/5. 11-19, 1-4 3s. 6 TO. 2 STL.
Cedi: 20/3/1. 7-12, 5-6 3s. 2 TO. 2 STL.
Love: 27/5/3. 9-17, 5-11 3s. 1 TO.
TT: 9/13/5. 2 BLK.
LNJ: 8/2/4. 2 STL. 4-7.
Fonzie: 8 pts on 4-6.
Cavs have looked good without Garland. I guess it’s no big secret that starting two 6 foot guards is a problem.
Lol.
It’s a secret to Corby.
Hahaha
I don’t think it’s a secret. It’s planned.
Mmhmm.

Bwahahaha. I forgot about this. And based off their defense, there is no doubt about that. They gave up almost as many baskets off cuts, backdoors, oops, and in transition as we did.
Cols will be so pumped over this Delly performance. So happy for Cols.

It’s nice to know what this team is capable of when they actually play hard. Great game.
We played 8 guys, but I can almost guarantee we were better than if we played Garland, Porter, and Drummond any minutes.
Shhhhh.
Delly 14 dimes. Wow.
WOW… held Denver to 42 points in the 2nd half. Finally showed some defensive toughness tonight!
What a fun game. Murray was the danger Guy, Cavs get lucky. But a great win, gritty effort, took care of the ball and moved it well for most of the night.
Delly with a base6 triple double!
Love was huge down the stretch.
Cavs need to remember to give Love the ball in the 4th and great things happen
Delly as PG helps.
14 Delly assists…wow…
Career high I would guess.
Winnnner!!!!!!
Great last possession d!
Cavs win!!!
what a pass Delly
FTs Hockey assist to sexton. FTs Assist to delly
Sexton with a great hockey pass.
Bad trap o. Bad transition d. Lets them tright back in.
Wow…TT gets fouled…
And misses both…
Down to the wire. Good shot, no tovs.. love!
