Live Thread: Pelicans @ Cavs
2022-01-31Good evening CtB!
Tonight, the New Orleans Pelicans have migrated north to the shores of Lake Erie to take on the Cavs, who will be playing their second game of a back to back. The Cavs will need to bounce back after an embarrassing loss last night to the Detroit Pistons. This is one of those rare occasions where the Cavs probably welcome the quick turnaround.
The Pelicans are playing around .500 ball since their disastrous start to the season and they’re doing it without their franchise player, Zion Williamson. It appears they found a diamond in the rough in Herbert Jones, a four year product out of the University of Alabama. Brandon Ingram appears to be having a career year and going to another level in his game, especially with his passing. There are no easy nights in the NBA as the young Cavs learned last night, tonight’s game poses another similar test… dealing with the expectations of a playoff team.
Tip off is scheduled for 7:00PM ET and will be broadcasted on Bally Sports Ohio/Great Lakes, GO CAVS!
Yeah I know I’m greedy…..but I look at the Sun’s 10 win streak right now, building to the same level they did last year. And I think “why not the Cavs?”
It’s not easy, but it is entirely achievable. This squad, without significant trades, has got what it takes.
After ugly loss get an ugly win…these last two games show the Cavs need reinforcements…however Goodwin looked solid and made some big shots in second half…he’d be a nice 5 minutes spark later in season once everyone is healthy and after trades are made…it is clear when Cedi is given bigger role he’s very inconsistent and does too much…also Mobley starting to hit rookie wall…Cavs need to watch that cause they will need him for season stretch and beyond…GO CAVS!
A zero cost trade for Rondo was a reasonable flyer. Doesn’t look like it is going to pan out very well.
Plan B. Can Cedi provide some decent minutes at point? That and regular minutes for Goodwin can take the pressure off the guard situation.
As far as trades go: It appears there are lots of teams trying to cobble together multi team trades — and a lot of them seem desperate. Last year the Cavs sat back, and a star fell into their laps for a minimal investment. Maybe something like that can happen two years in a row!

Kevin Love plus 17 in a 2 point victory. Holy shit he was so big tonight.
Stevens 4 rebounds, 2 assist, 2 blocks, 3 steals, 11 points on 5-6 shooting. One solid DAWG!
And Goodwin scoring 21 when he wasn’t even in the league a couple months ago. Mucho huevos!
Great gritty not ugly win.
Wade, Cedi, & Mobley terrible offensively.
Love, Allen, Ice, & Goodwin came up huge offensively.
Cedi was our only offense most of the time because of his ability to drive and pass.
True enough. I guess I was looking at his shooting numbers.
yeah, he sucked on that front but it was one of those Rubio things where i think he was taking the right shots, just couldnt make a damn thing
So how has Goodwin not earned PT now ? Rondo just has not been good . Goodwin brings some much needed energy and moxie off the bench
JB likes to be too much of a hardass on the end of the bench it’s unnecessary
