Live Thread: Pistons @ Cavs
2022-03-19Good evening CtB!
Tonight the Detroit Pistons have traversed across Lake Erie to take on the Cavs in a key Central Divison matchup for the home team. The Cavs can get to within a half game of the five seed, and only 1.5 games back of the fourth seed and home court advantage. The Pistons have been feisty lately, going 5-5 over their last 10 games but have lost four out of their last five games. The Cavs will be looking to even the season series tonight, 2-2.
Of course the headline matchup is between Rookie of the Year candidates in Evan Mobley and Cade Cunningham. It’s a chance for Mobley to leave a lasting impression in the minds of NBA media before the season ends. But the Cavs really have bigger fish to fry. It’ll be a test of mental fortitude to pull this game off, as the next two games have all the markings of trap games before a massive showdown with the Toronto Raptors looms in the distance.
The key battle in tonight’s game will be on the boards tonight while the Cavs are on offense. Dead legs on the second game of a back to back means opportunities for offensive rebounds. The Cavs will need to crash the glass against a poor rebounding team in Detroit to generate some easy offense against scramble defense.
Tip off is scheduled for 8:00PM ET and will be broadcasted live on Bally Sports Ohio/Great Lakes, Go Cavs!
cap up!
Guys, we need to start talking about Mobley’s 4th quarters.
It’s a thing.
They play better when I don’t watch. The rally started immediately after I quit watching.
Go Cavs!
Gritty not pretty.
haha! I had just tuned in on 1100 at that moment.
Let’s take it. I don’t believe in the cosmic “watch/don’t watch” phenomenon, but I do believe teams are at a disadvantage when they are on the back end of two straight. Kudos for digging in and getting it done. Strangely enough, the Cavs are now 7-6 in the second game of back-to-backers. Does that suggest they are mentally tough, or that it matters who you are playing in the second game? Their wins: Sacramento (twice), at OKC, New Orleans, Detroit, Atlanta and (early season) Boston. Their second-game losses? at Phoenix, Golden State, Atlanta, at Philly, at Chicago and at Milwaukee.
This has been happening a lot to me too, Jason. Had to stop watching at 3Q time.
