Live Thread: Cavs @ Nuggets
2023-01-06Good evening CtB!
The Cavs are in the Mile High City to take on the Denver Nuggets, what will be a massive test against the best of the Western Conference. The Cavs will have to do it without Donovan Mitchell, who is understandably on load management, and possibly also Darius Garland, who is a game-time decision.
This is a matchup that Tower City needs to win against the formidable tandem of Nikola Jokic and Aaron Gordon for the Cavs to have a chance. Denver is ranked #2 in the NBA in offensive rating (116.7), while the Cavs are ranked #1 in the NBA in defensive rating (108.5). Something’s gotta give. The Cavs would do well to pay attention to how Denver moves the ball on offense, they are ranked #1 in the NBA in assist ratio at 20.3. The Cavs rank 19th at 17.4.The ball movement needs to improve if the Cavs want to compete with the best of the best.
Tip off is scheduled for 9:00PM Eastern time and will be broadcasted live on Bally Sports Ohio/Great Lakes, Go Cavs!
cap up!
IT WOULD BE FANTASTIC IF SOMEHOW THE CAVS COULD POSITION THEMSELVES TO GET B SENSABAUHGH // WING FOR THE OHIO STATE BUCKEYES—HAS A GREAT FUTURE AHEAD OF HIM —IS RAPIDLY MOVING UP THE DRAFT CHARTS
AGBAJI—4/4/ FROM 3’S LAST NIGHT FOR THE JAZZ—19 PTS TOTAL
I think he’s gonna be good. Just needs more playing time.
I didn’t see this game, but since they were writing it off anyway, why play Garland? Let his thumb rest and heal at least a couple more days and bring him back for the Suns. Start Levert, Okoro, and Cedi as rhe 1-2-3 and use Neto and Stevens off the bench. Maybe they lose by 25 ínstead of 13, so what?
good question. maybe the thumb is good to go?
I’ve read comments on a different site that Garland was visibly favoring his non-shooting hand and noticeably winced after contact several times. Sounds to me like there was just as much reason to keep him out as Donovan
MY BAD FORGOT TO MENTION FREE THROW SHOOTING FOR MOBES
OK FILE A PROTEST—-UNLEVEL RIM—-REPLAY THE GAME WITH SPIDA AND POSSIBLY RUBIO// WADE IN THE LINEUP………..” MORE BEER PLEASE “……….THINK MOBES IS HAVING A DECENT SEASON JUST NOT THE “EXPECTATIONS ” SEASON EVERYONE WAS THINKING// HOPING FOR ——NEXT SUMMER// OFF SEASON HE HAS TO GET IN THE WEIGHT ROOM// GET STRONGER // WORK ON SOME “GO TO MOVES ” 15 ‘ AND IN —-BECOME A 30% PLUS SHOOTER FROM 3PT LAND// REBOUNDING ON BOTH ENDS —-STILL BELIEVE HE HAS ALOT OF UPSIDE !!
Save that lineup against the Nuggets for game 1 of the finals!
good thinking!
top guys rather underwhelming and you get little from anyone else. guess if they wanted to win game, someone had to step up big and no one did. Mobley very underwhelming and this was a favorable matchup for him too. Okoro & Lamar combined – 9 points 4 assists 6 rebounds in 31 minutes…they wouldn’t cut for one player and this is two. Again Cavs seem drunk with these guys or they know secrets…can’t fathom no G-league guys could step in and not exceed those numbers.
Bad show game for Garland. Now he’s basically untradeable…
haha — check out who was in the ASG last year
/s
Hook, line, sinker and copy of “Fishing Times”. C’mon Raoul!
haha – sorry. the CtB lunatic fringe’s “trade DG” binge has got me hyperd
Garland’s home/road splits this year are just brutal:
Home: 25 PPG, 65% TS
Road: 16 PPG, 47% TS
Last year:
Home: 22 PPG, 58% TS
Road: 21 PPG, 57% TS
I assumed that would normalize as he recovered from the eye injury. Its actually gotten more split though. Gonna be a tough year to figure out what we really have if we dont get a solid stretch at closer to full strength
Agree. I also really think the revolving door at the small forward has affected him, just not the same comfort level when lineups are always changing.
