Live Thread: Cavs vs. Pistons
2018-01-28The drama that is the Cleveland Cavaliers continues even after a successful win against the Pacers. They couldn’t play any defense and LeBron had 11 turnovers for a rare quadruple double, but they still managed to pull out a victory, 115-108. Nonetheless, the issues have not disappeared and Isaiah Thomas doesn’t think he should shoulder the blame even though his defense is outrageously awful.
Sunday night’s match-up is against the Detroit Pistons who are struggling worse than the Cavs. With a 22-25 record, the Pistons are losers of their last seven straight games. No one’s been traded and there hasn’t been much noise on that front lately so it appears all of the Cavaliers are available tonight except Dwayne Wade. As usual, I expect Cleveland to play down to their opponents and make this a much closer game then usual. Go Cavs!
Recap is up, folks.
while difficult we don’t want to get too lost in moment, but appears Cavs have figured out energy and effort along with execution can win them games pretty easily…still appear to be goofy turnovers but that can happen in flow of game. even though it was minor lineup change, Cavs seem energized by it so whatever works i guess….back at these Pistons on Tuesday….GO CAVS!

I’d be terrified to play against Westbrook…
Honestly, it’s becoming more WWF every day. I wonder if these guys are getting a NBA commission if they do something controversy-worthy without getting a tech.
Does an IT — Delly trade work? That would save the Bucks money, so they might do it.
he’s going to have to go in a bigger trade, cuz no one wants him right now. Delly would be fantastic on this team though.
Seing him play with our team and what he says on interviews, I’m starting to dislike IT on and off the floor.
If you are going to come across like a turd, you better be good.
What’s interesting about this season is that it’s rare to see a fanbase so right and a coach so wrong about lineups. Don’t start Love at C, play Frye more because he opens up the floor and is underrated on D (against most teams), don’t play Schump and play Rose limited mins. These things are all so obvious and yet our coach only seems to be figuring them out. It’s disheartening to see how much Lue sucks – we’re wasting the last years of LeBron with him as coach.
We did win 18 of 19 with Love starting at C. That wasn’t a total failure.
Not obvious that LeBron sees it that way.
I think IT is closer to Kay Felder than Kyrie Irving.
Just need to get Cedi some minutes – put him in for whoever is slacking on D on a given night (jr, crowder, korver, etc)
if ty is “clueless ” to these messages —then he won’t have to be fired—players will run him out themselves
Kyle waxing poetic about how good Channing Frye is for the team.
Think the players have a message for Lue?
It’s not even a ‘look test’…Frye is part of their most effective lineups. And his defense is good enough against most teams…he’s playing at least as much D as anyone else they are trotting out there…I don’t see how they can trade him, and if they do and he is bought out, some playoff team is going to get a great spacer…
Unless Lue is tone deaf….a Western Union message is being delivered for sure
Jim Chones with a comment about on-court character – doesn’t care about off-court – and that he is starting to see integrity, toughness & smarts return to their play. Bumping shoulders will continue until positive change occurs.
Even JR didn’t need analytics. Simply, saidJR, when Channing well Cavs win. Lue better keep, playing him.
Kevin with 20 and 11 in just 27 minutes… actually he is only averaging 28.5 mpg this season
JR is over 35% from deep on the season. Moving on up.
Channing Frye post game interview reminds you of how awesome the dude is…
Cavs now 18-1 when Channing plays 11+ minutes…

Riley is like: Wait a minute, who are the other two?
Riles isn’t on the medal stand. Red, Phil, Pop. Then Kundla & Riles.
Oh man… I just saw this… WOW

I do not want Channing involved in a trade unless it yields an all-star type. George Hill is not that type of guy.
+9

JR is 11-20 from three the past two games.
Loving the awakening of JR from his coma. It’s also perfectly correlated with putting Crowder with the backup unit and starting TT. Interesting. Glad they’re finally tinkering with the lineup and actually seeing what works and going with that rather than some sort of seniority system based on contract value.
Ganley Auto haunts my dreams…
6 guys in double figures: Bron 25, Love 20, JR 15, IT 14, Crowder, & Korver with 12. TT had 9 & Frye 7.
Bron was the only guy to play 30+ minutes with 38.
Long overdue adjustment by Lue to stagger LeBron and IT late in the third – since IT isn’t going anywhere, that’s going to be the best way to use him… I think the lineup was IT, KK, Frye, Crowder, and Green
Yep. Good point. Frye & Korver open the floor for him. Crowder & Green are good defenders & Korver/Frye smart ones. Plus, he can be aggressive without costing Kev & Bron shots.
Wonder what happens when Wade comes back.
I bet it’ll be worse than the above lineup before they (IT/Wade) start to figure it out – they showed some chemistry the first game or two when IT came back but both still have a penchant for bad iso shots and lackadaisical D. Wade has a high b-ball IQ when he wants to, so I could see some good off ball cuts off IT PnRs.
George Hill playing tonight for Sac… trade must have been intercepted in the end zone like a Kizer pass…
Can still hear Windy last week saying Shump & Frye were Kings already.
Yeah Windy and Woj both look bad on this one
But Shump again a DNP. Is that Lue visiting the http://www.pleasestopdribblingShump.com website, or is Iman still involved in some trade?
IT did have a nice stretch in the third… also finished with 7 assists…

That interview with Love interrupted by Channing shows how good Channing is for chemistry. And on the court too
No IT in the 4th quarter, and the Cavs outscore the Pistons by 14…
Damn, we won by 17. Good D in the 4th. Is that 2 in a row? One more and we have a streak!
Still, signs of life. We have a lot of guys who can be hit or miss (JR, Wade, Rose, Crowder, & IT for certain, Love & Frye a bit). Point being, we can’t just pencil in rotations. We have to be flexible. That does mean chemistry is tougher to come by.
First time they’ve won two in a row since mid-December…
Kev pulls Channing into his post game interview… instant awesome!
You’re absolutely right, Jeff… DRINK!!
Great 4th quarter by LeBron – completely controlled the game. 14 assists and 27 total for the team!
IT played a lot better tonight. Let’s hope they can keep this up and get into a nice win streak.

Caught most of the 4th but missed the rest of the game. Will go back & watch it, but dying to know what IT factor there was tonight?
The Scourge of the Fourth was nowhere to be found… Cavs subsequently close it out on a 26-9 run…
IT was a bit better in this game. But the best run of course was when IT was on the bench
He was OK for a 6 minute stead in the first, didn’t force much & D was fine. The second & most of the 3rd was kind of poor, but he did have a nice flurry in the 3rd.
Finished with 14 pts & 7 dimes. 5 of 12 FGs, 1 of 4 on 3s. Only 1 TO. +4 plus minus.
Thanks guys
Great fourth quarter by Cavs…
Man, Cedi can defend…
Long & quick with good insticts & a great motor.
Nice games from a lot of guys. Bron & Kev with 20/10 games. JR & Crowder with nice games (15 & 12). Signs of life from IT (14 & 7). Kyle with 9 after a slow start. Frye with 7 & 7. TT was good early. Green with 2 monster slams.
JR 11-20 from three the last two games… makes a huge difference
That’s the most ridiculous review I’ve ever seen: Yes, legal tip, but hey Pistons it doesn’t change anything cuz it didn’t go in and Cavs got the rebound!
This 4th is the most energized the Cavs have looked in a while…more Frye, please…
Nice save JR!
Just 18 points allowed this quarter. Finally some defense.
That was dumb cause it was Cavs ball either way…
Pipeline!
Not even the Scourge of the Fourth can blow it now…
