Live Thread: Cavs vs Bucks
2018-03-19The Cleveland Cavaliers return home from a six-game road trip which ended even at three wins and three losses. The trip was not kind to the Cavs health however, as the list of injured players continues to grow. In addition to the absence of Love and Thompson, Cleveland has added Rodney Hood (back), and Cedi Osman (hip) to the list. As of 1:00pm, Larry Nance Jr., per Sam Amico, is still unavailable for this match-up but the Cavs may see the return of Kyle Korver, though that is still uncertain. As if this exhaustive list of beleaguered athletes wasn’t enough, it was reported today, Monday morning, that Ty Lue will be taking a leave of absence for the health concerns we have been hearing about for the past few weeks. Despite my issues with his coaching this season, I wish him all the best in recovering quickly, health issues are no joke. Larry Drew will be filling in in his absence. Fortunately, there is a glimmer of hope as Amico also reports that Love is questionable for tonight. Even if he does not play tonight, Love’s imminent return must be a breath of fresh air for Cleveland.
Despite a depleted roster, LeBron just keeps continuing to elevate his game, recording multiple triple doubles and generally astounding everyone along the way. Even considering James’s brilliance, the Bucks aren’t the Bulls or the Suns and will be a much tougher match-up. Hopefully we get a bit more good news on the injury front later this afternoon as the Cavaliers may need it in order to get past Milwaukee. As always, Go Cavs!
T-REX !!– FOR CLARKSON’S NICKNAME
Recaps up, folks.
17. It’s becoming clear that players say more ridiculous things on the Road Trippin’ podcast than they do on any other format. Cavs guard Jordan Clarkson followed up Kyrie Irving’s flat earth theory with his own: dinosaurs were once pets owned by giant humans. Honest.
— We may need to give Clarkson (AKA Captain Bandaid) a second nickname.
A couple of the sites have the Cavs selecting Wendall Carter from Duke. I would feel like we are getting the lesser prospect, because he played with Bagley, but he’s apparently still a pretty good prospect.
I know I may be in the minority here, but if Trae Young is available at 7 (assuming the Cavs are picking at 7), I’d be pretty happy if they selected him. I think he’ll do even better in the NBA, with how important spacing is.

As much as hill has been a disappointment I’d like to see him on the floor a lot more than smith , he brings energy on defensive end and I believe that it’s inevitable that he’s gonna come around with his offensive game, jr defense will kill our team and his offense is as unstable like we’ve never seen before , at 33 he’s decided that his confidence doesn’t let him shoot up his wild 3s anymore and now hel show off his inner kyrie Irving ……..pathetic…. sorry everyone -the guy is done!!!! Play hill 30 min a game and… Read more »
I agree these days he tries showing us his inner kyrie…insane! Shouldn’t make the playoff roster. Prob will though bec he belongs to klutch sports just like tt! Both of them should b left off and traded if possible!
Bummer I was out of town and missed this one, but I did catch it from midway third qtr on on the FSO replay. Really encouraging to see Zizic play this well, and great to have Love back. Love looked like he had no rust at all. So looking forward to lineups with Nance, Lebron and Love on the court…
Good article on LeBron’s back health: http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/22778062/how-lebron-james-fixed-back-track-play-all-82-games-nba
Good article. Thanks.
Good article. Thanks.
Stat line of the night
George hill
21 min 0 points on 0-2 shooting 3 reb 3 assists
What a disappointment
That’s your stat line of the night? In a win?
Mine was that LeBron James became just the fifth player in NBA history with at least 5 40 point triple doubles…
Accomplishments are great Lebron is the king no doubt but looking forward come playoff time we need contributions from everyone
Yup we love lebron , but my eyes r looking ahead a championship and we need hill to start scoring and playing a little aggressive,
As JoeyB mentioned… Hill has never been much of a scoring PG… his calling cards are defense and taking good care of the ball… which is what he’s doing. If you guys are disappointed, then maybe your expectations were too high to begin with?
Taking good care of the ball?? He hardly sets anybody up bec he’s too soft to ever get in the paint or roll through the pick n roll so the only other time he has the ball on any given play is when he takes it down the floor. It’s not that difficult not to lose it if that’s all he’s doing. I agree he’s a plus on defense he’s really good at that but we are seeing a glorified deandre liggins! He also took the ball down the floor from time to time
He’s averaged about 1 turnover per game in right around 30 mpg… yes, he’s vanilla… but he’s still better than anyone (aside from Jose here and there) who was handling the ball in that position previously this year… I would agree that it would be nice if he’d do more, and certainly he’s got to get back to hitting his corner threes… but “glorified deandre liggins” is an overstatement…
If he is playing good defense, running the offense, and being a net positive, his stat lines don’t mean anything. He’s not a scoring point guard. He knows how to defer. He knows how to play defense. He’s a net positive.
Can’t imagine this is the kind of Spurs/Dubs game ESPN was hoping for…
Draymond now out for the rest of the game with some sort of mid section contusion… All four All Stars injured now…
Did someone kick him in the groin?
There would be video evidence already posted if that were the case, Simmo… ;)
Sorry EG, not questioning your performance which has been top shelf as always.
Actually… it was pretty close to the groin… I stand corrected…

Nugs & Heat in a tight game
The Kelly Olynyk game…
Yeah he seems somehow … effective.
I like listening to Larry Drew…
Ditto
I just realized that was game #70… wow, just 12 games left…
This team’s future is bright. So much young talent!
Nets win….again…
Nice games by the KLove, Clarkson, and just tremendous effort by LBJ. Bledsoe showed his main weakness by bricking all his 3s in the 4th.
Memphis down 7 with a minute to go to the Nets… oh well
Bledsoe and Snell went 2-15 from deep…
First time the Cavs have won the rebounding in a while…
Only watched last quarter but appeared Cavs played really well in this game….nice to see Love back in action…Lebron is a beast…Ginannis got bailed out by refs about 8x…Zicic tearing it up again…hope his minutes stay consistent…big game on Wednesday vs Raps….GO CAVS!
Pretty good return for Kev… 18 points, 7 boards, 4 assists and two blocks in 25 mins…
Podcast tonight?
Probably Wednesday after the Raps…
Dubs fielding a G-League team tonight in SA…
Finally. Peak. LeBron tonight. Great game.
He seemed energized by having Love back… and then looked like he wanted to dunk on every Buck out there…
Great win! Great to have KLove back!
Only minor complaint would be not putting Bucks away sooner at the end…
I remember being very afraid of Tony Snell not that long ago… he’s been way off tonight.
IT lost his cape tonight… 4-14 and 0-5 from three…
Really impressed with Green’s FT shooting this year…
Why is JR in the game? Stupid foul.
Ragdoll physics engine thon maker.
So true…
Goodnight Milwaukee
Surprising no Hill in there?
Not with how passive he was.
Love Clarkson’s aggressiveness
Only up 6. Put the FT guys in. Love, Korver. Green & Jose/Clarkson.
LD – how about dialing up some offense/defense lineups
Do these refs really not see that Giannis takes three steps on those drives?
It is the NBA. Gimmee Three Steps should be the official song.
40 for Bron…
Not a great way to close this thing out!
Not impressive the last couple minutes.
Jumpers & TOs.
Exclamation point!
EXCLAMATION POINT!
Dude!
?
Cavs being sloppy…
Grizz up 7 after 3. Dare to dream?
That should have been a drive…
Giannis “rubbed” it in… jeez somebody save us from this geezer…
Better rubbing one in than out…
