Live Thread: Cavs @ Lakers

— Cleveland Cavaliers (@cavs) November 6, 2022
Looks like a pretty full roster for the Cavs. And word is that Davis and LeBron are starting for L.A. The Lakers have been better since Westbrook moved to the bench, but after picking up wins against Denver and New Orleans, they dropped one to our friends in Utah, Friday. The Cavs’ starters need to play the Lakers to a draw and the Cleveland bench, which has been dominant so far this season, needs to keep up the positive plus/minus, and the wine and gold should have this one.
That’s easier said than done as LeBron is 17-1 against Cleveland. With Garland, Mitchel, LeBron, and AD all questionable today yet playing through the injuries, you know the stars on both squads are up for this one! This is as big of a Cavs game since Donovan Mitchell has joined the squad and should have prime time vibes! Go Cavs!
Big treat on the live thread coming up! Psyched!
cap up!
Bron sitting out tonight.
Any word on if Mitchell, DG, and Love are all good to go on our 2 game of a b2b?
Hope so. But no need to risk anyone.
Mitchell probably could use a rest based on the amount of mpg he has played.

A lot of highly ranked cavs!!!!!
Yep. We have 6 in the top 36. Mitchell is 5th. Love 16th. LeVert 17th. Garland 23rd. Mobley 31st. Allen 36th. Hell, Wade is 70th. This is what it looks like when you are 8-1 with a top 3 net rating, a top 3 defense, and a top 10 offense. I’d note Allen & Mobes are negative on O, but only Brook Lopez has a higher D rating (that I could find) than either. Some of that is that Love has been so scorching that lineups with Love +1 are gonna be better offensively than JA + EM lineups. Especially… Read more »
Markkanen is 22nd.
The Bulls hardly played him. The Cavs and Jazz say THANKS!
Lovely comments by LeBron on the Cavs, “they just wanna play ball”.

Spot on.Not too much shine-ola.
Lebron on Lakers now is like Jordan with Wizards…age is catching up and putting average and overrated guys around him isn’t helping and it isn’t early 2000s anymore when he could drag a team to 40-50 wins.
Cavs meanwhile look good. Again I just hope the same energy is there in 4-5 months.
I saw some ex-NBA’ers (Zach, …) talking about why DM is so much better than last year. One said DM is the best at leading an ultra fast break. But the Jazz were otherwise slow, and there was no one that could run with him. The Cavs are full of fast guys.
no one who wanted to run..
More like late era Kobe Lakers after the achilles tear. Kobe could still put on a show, but really did not care about winning. He felt he’d earned that big contract despite his age and declining efficiency.
LeBron is just chasing Kareem and waiting for Bronny to turn pro in a comfortable place. He thinks he’s earned it. Plus, they are miles away from contention, and he knows it.
he…HAS earned it.
Didn’t say he hadn’t. Just comparing their mindsets.
Look, LeBron could have said to himself, “This roster stinks, my GM has choked hugely since we won in 2020. If we don’t improve this year, I am outta here. I want to try to go on one more Championship run before my time ends. I probably cannot be the #1 guy on a title team, but could be #2 or #3. And I am willing to be paid accordingly. Money is not a factor, I have a ton. I want RANGGGS.”
But he didn’t. He signed a max extension at 37 on a team that sucks. Their hands are tied this year. Davis is not a #1 guy. No #1 is going to the Lakers in the off-season. He is content to break Kareem’s record and play with Bronny & retire. But he isn’t trying to win anymore. Nor is he willing to do the things necessary to win at a high level (sacrifice). As the alpha, he didn’t have to do as much of that before, like Wade, Bosh, and Love did. But he is no longer an alpha. The… Read more »
I dunno. Watching live, his shot looks a little flat but other than that he’s still great as a passer and finisher. He’s a max player for sure still. I’m putting the failures of the roster on AD and Russ; but mostly the support just really sucks without KCP, Caruso, Kuzma. Matt Ryan is about a thousand times worse than Iman Shumpert, as an example.
Interesting that LBJ used to use his photographic memory of plays in the game during postgame interviews. He mentioned having to look at the film a few times after this game. Times are a-changing.
“Looking at film” is also an answer that is often used when you don’t want to call someone out. You may know, but you don’t want to say.
Q: Why did you only score 36 points in the 2nd half?
A: We’ll have to look at the film.
Also, LBJ is partially at fault here. His defense is still mostly bad, and as the main ballhandler, he is supposed to get AD involved. Though the latter is difficult with the opposition sagging into the paint
all the time.
Let me be the first with this prediction:
22-23 NBA Finals: Cavs beat Jazz in 5.
Who sez no?
TV execs say no. They’ll have a heart attack if it’s a Jazz/Cavs final.
haha!
FWIW, not to pour water on the Bucks & their 9-0 start w/out Middleton, Connaughton, & Ingles (& Giannis last game), but 7 of 9 have been in Milwaukee.
That’s significant for sure
They’ve also had one of the easier schedules.
Nets and Lakers should get their Xmas games moved till after the holidays.
Too late now, but yeah.
The Lakers were always gonna be a trainwreck. LeBron is still good, but no longer elite. Davis should never have made the 75th Anniversary Team. He is a magician, he disappears all the time.
At least Kyrie did not. Thank goodness. KD is still fun to watch play.
Go Cavs!!! What a team
YOU ARE SOOO RIGHT BW—( HAVING A LIFE )–THE MRS NOMAD HAS DIFFICULTY SAYING NO –EXCEPT TO ME AT NIGHTIME// BEDTIME…………..” MORE BEER …..AND CTB PLEASE ” :-)
train keeps rolling..
Clips play at 10 pm. So we have 6.5 hours of a rest advantage.

Cavs improve to 3-19 against LeBron. With that being said, this one feels just a little bit sweeter.
2-17 when he plays, 0-2 when he doesn’t
Love this group, love the way we’re playing and 8-1 is a fantastic start!
That being said, not quite sure when we really start worrying a bit about Mobley. Not for the long term, but right now I admit I thought he’d be better.
Also, I don’t like that our backup PF is able to get 8 three-pt looks in 20min, but our starting PF takes 1 three-pt shot in 30min! If he really has that range and skillset they need to start setting him up like we do for Love to shoot from out there.
Agreed a bit but man the guards are so ball dominant and he is just not going to create his own shot
I am not at all worried about Mobley. He is young. His scoring role was always going to be reduced with Mitchell coming and that is ok. He had 8 blocks the other night and helped in the second half tonight. If he plays d the offense will come.
He doesn’t have consistent three point range yet. He has shooting touch but he isn’t a good shooter yet.
me neither. he will start having big games soon enough.

Awesome! Love this squad!!!
that’s cool
KLove being the one leading that charge was awesome to see.
This made me smile. I’m all in on the Cavs !
So awesome!
Championships don’t require punches to the face.
Wow! Was that the halftime speech?
Effective, for one.
JB getting the JYD!
Mitchell is fitting in so well. Not just as a player but in his spirit. What a wonderful team.
I really thought we’d see more LeBron in the 4th, but he checked out instead. It really is a new phase in his career…
Even in HS, Lebron knew a stacked team, and even in pickup games back then, he’d try to make sure he was on the stacked team. He knows this Laker team ain’t it, so he’s not going to kill himself trying.
He has frequent long spells of LeChill mode throughout his career. He decided the regular season W/Ls don’t matter that much after the Cavs had the best record 2 years running and didn’t win anything. Save for 1 year in Miami, he plays like it. A lot.
He has checked out on competing for titles. It is all about passing Kareem and playing with Bronny.
Guess you’re right. Now that I checked the box score I see he scored 27, so I guess he got it done from his perspective.
DAMN ALL THESE ” ACTIVITIES ” NOT ALLOWING ME TO WATCH CAVS LIVE AND WORSE YET NOT JOINING IN THE LIVE POSTS WITH ALL YOU GUYS— HOPING I WILL GET TO JOIN ALL THE FUN ” LIVE WITH YOU GUYS ” SOON——–THIS IS AN INCREDIBLE RUN BY AN INCREDIBLE GROUP OF GUYS// PLAYERS // COACHES —–HATS OFF TO LAURI WHO SO FAR IS HAVING A GREAT START –( HOPE YOU KEEP IT GOING ) BUT WHAT WE HAVE IN SPIDA —-WELL YOU ALL SEE THE RESULTS —-WOULD MAKE THAT TRADE 100 TIMES OUT OF 100 TIMES
STOP HAVING A LIFE NOMAD!
Kidding obviously. Cavs should be killing it all season. Live it up brother.
Did anyone else think it odd that JB left the starters in after Ham waived the flag?
I don’t think he was happy with how they played. And the ending surely did not wash that taste out of his mouth.
Expect we’ll see bench mob tomorrow for real minutes.
it is not uncommon for a bench unit to come in late and make a game of it.
Clips will be tougher tomorrow.
36 points in the first and 36 in the second half for Lakers.
Cavs just keep coming and coming and pull away. Some nice plays by Cedi, defense by Wade down the stretch. Strong, calm buckets by Mitchell to seal the deal.
Cavs on a “impress the hell out of everyone” tour right now.
Cavs go over 111 pts, so no free tacos for LA. Sorry LA…
We were 8-32 from deep. 25%.
We were 31-52 from 2. 59.6%.

8 in a row, let that sink in. Pretty f@#king awesome. It’s damn hard to win on the road, especially west coast swings, time difference…. Really impressive
We won the second half 56-36, with that +20 coming in a 10-0 spurt to end the 3rd and 15-5 to start the 4th.
Mostly in 2nd-3rd gear, but Mitchell & DG were brilliant offensively to keep us in it in the first, then got help and better D in the second, as Mobes & JA were able to stay on the court more.
And JA, Love, Mobes, & Cedi made some shots.
damn good effort 2nd half.
Good third and fourth after really shaky first half.
GOOD TEAMS WIN, GREAT TEAMS COVER!!!!
Haha. Yeah they do
Spida says goodnight.
DONOVAN MITCHELL MVP
Might have been down big by end of 1st half without his steadying presence.
Donovan Mitchell. I love you.
Mitchell is 9 of 10 from 2pt range.
