Live Thread: Cavs @ Grizzlies
2023-01-18Good evening CtB!
The Cavs have ventured to the banks of the mighty Mississippi River to take on Memphis Grizzlies in a massive clash between two of the best teams in the NBA. Memphis is gunning for the top seed in the Western Conference and have won 10 straight games. The Cavs themselves are in a five way hunt for the second seed in the Eastern Conference. Unfortunately for the Cavs, they will be without Donovan Mitchell so the odds of coming away with a victory are small. Tonight is game about heart and competitive desire, do the Cavs compete for 48 minutes? That will be the key if should they pull off the massive upset.
What does Memphis want to do tonight? They want to push the pace on offense and crash the offensive glass. The Cavs defense will need a strong rebounding performance and be sound in transition, along with Darius Garland, Caris LeVert, and Ricky Rubio controlling the pace on offense.
Tip off is scheduled for 8:00PM Eastern time and will be broadcasted live on Bally Sports Ohio/Great Lakes, Go Cavs!

we should have such a big lead by Q4 that they could put me and NOMAD in!
The latest Thinking Basketball youtube video called “How to be a shooting threat when you can’t shoot” is very interesting / good to think about for guys like Okoro.

11.5 game favorites for the Cavs.
Curry, Thompson, Green, Wiggins, and Wiseman are out tonight.
Damn. Scheduled loss for the dubs.
Incoming Jordan Poole roasts us game
Hilarious. I’m sure Poole will carry the ball enough for all of them. Maybe one or two will get called.
RAOUL I AM ALSO A KIND OF GUY ” GLASS HALF FULL ” TYPE OF GUY UNLESS YOU ARE REFERRING TO …………….” MORE BEER PLEASE —SERVED IN A GLASS// MUG ” :-)
WATCHED CELTS// DUBS GAME—YEP THEY ARE ON BACK // BACK—-TOUGH// PHYSICAL GAME LAST NIGHT—-CAVS NEED TO ” HIT THEM QUICK—HARD– -OFTEN ” PUT THEM AWAY EARLY—–GOOD TIME TO GIVE ‘ PIT BULL NETO ” MIN’S JUST TO ” DAWG ‘ THE HELL OUT OF THEM—-GO CAVS !!!
I am joining Jason in betting the Cavs get out of the first round. Here are some reasons:
Obviously injuries can throw any of this out of whack.
Warriors lose to Celtics in OT. Didn’t realize that they’d be on a b2b, so that certainly helps us tomorrow.
Absolutely! Also noticed Raps hit almost 80 points in their 1st half, had a large lead and still lost. They are ass this season.
I would love to see the Cavs blow out the Dubs, preferably with DM in street clothes.
Bill Simmons suggests trading LeVert/Windler for Finney-Smith/Dwight Powell
OK so L2M https://official.nba.com/l2m/L2MReport.html?gameId=0022200672 says its a correct call on the 5 second count on Okoro. Their video doesn’t show it so I had to find it elsewhere. The only video I can find is edited where it makes it difficult to tell. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AybwFldXd54 (around 4:05 timestamp). It really felt like a 4 count to me.
WATCHING THE REPLAY —RIGHT BEFORE THE END BOUNDS—RUBIO TOOK ICE ASIDE AND WAS GIVING HIM ” PERSONAL INSTRUCTIONS ” ON WHAT TO DO—-I WOULD HAVE HAD RUBIO IN THERE INBOUNDING—EXPERIENCE// SAAVY // BB IQ//ETC —JUST MY OPINION
other than it being an issue if they have a Mobley size person defending the inbounds pass.
Super frustrating ending, but I’d rather watch a dumb loss in an entertaining game than some of the other slogs the past month or so. You could tell they really wanted this one. Hoping they come back from the all-star break with this type of focus for whole games to close out the season strong.
Also, was trying to figure out who I’d want in-bounding the ball on a crucial play. I love Ice, but he would be pretty far down my list. Rubio would be who I would trust the most, but he’s probably too short. I dunno. Maybe Kev, but he can get careless.
tall is good on inbounding.
Yeah but other than KLove? Don’t have that trust in Mobley yet. Allen? Serviceable passer but not sure he has great touch or decision making in a do or die moment. Answer is probably Kevin, as he could also get the ball back and shoot (despite his massive slump).
LeVert is a pretty decent option.
good idea
Yeah good call
