Azubuike and Some Leuer
2012-10-05Jodie Valade wrote a nice piece for the Plain Dealer on Kelenna Azubuike and his NBA comeback. If he can stay aggressive, I see no reason why Azubuike shouldn’t be able to play decent backup minutes at the small forward position. Also: how do you pronounce his name? I can’t wait to hear Austin Carr mangle that one. Here’s the link.
Mary Schmitt Boyer, also of the Plain Dealer, put together a good read about Jon Leuer. The Bucks were very clogged at power forward last year, and Byron Scott’s a big fan of Leuer. Here’s the link.
be vocal and win all home games

If healthy, I honestly think Azubuike is the perfect SF to pair up with Irving and Waiters. What those two guards really need is a third wing player who can drill three pointers created by their penetration. Well, that’s Azubuike in a nutshell. He’s a great three shooter who would benefit immensely from having two guards to kick him the ball. That’s one of the main reasons he stood out three years ago on that Warriors team. The main thing is “if healthy.” None of us has any idea if this guy can still play basketball. I’d love to see… Read more »
Cory is completely right on this, and it’s one of the big reasons I still kind of wish we’d taken Harrison Barnes. The 3 is such a highly competitive position in the current NBA that it’s pretty difficult to win without a good player there. Beyond Zeller most of our big name guys are pretty small (i.e. 6’8″ or below) and mostly undersized for their positions.
This might not mean anything in the future, but we’re definitely weak at the three for now.
As-oo (like who) boo key I think is the pronunciation I think. But don’t quote me on it.
He’ll do a great job in Canton. The Cavs still have one of the worst SF rotations in the league. If a mad scientist could cut up Gee, Miles, and Cassepi and build one player out of them they might have the 14th best SF in the league. I do find it interesting that they have bypassed drafting a 3. 2014 is quickly approaching.
Dani, all those guys will be cut…
He’s an excellent shooter, so if he has even the slightest bit of lateral movement left in his knees, he’ll be a not-too-shabby backup wing.
Jon Leuer!!
Eh, I think he has a solid shot. He has enough of a history of solid production to make him worth more to the team than, say, a Micheal Eric or Justin Holiday type.
I’m not sure Azubuike makes the team, dude…
