Cavs: The Podcast 0041 – Uh Oh…
2013-11-17Well, this probably isn’t the way we all imagined the first 11 games going. 4-7, one of the worst offenses in the NBA, and the teams biggest “superstar” struggling mightily. Lets just say it hasn’t been pretty…
Colin, John (Welcome back!), and I hopped on podcast to vent our frustrations and chat about Kyrie Irving’s early season struggles, the Cavalier team disfunction, Dion Waiters’ potential (and misuse), Andrew Bynum’s success, and the failures of Anthony Bennett.

Go Cavs!
Kind of like Dolans band. Didn’t think I would.
Most of us expected the Cavs to be around .500. Only 4 teams in the East have winning records. As bad as the Cavs have been they are only a half game out of the 8th seed.
Straight Shot is as bad as the Knicks.
Nate –
I didn’t realize he was there THIS YEAR. I obviously wasn’t aware it was happening when it did. Too bad…too bad….
@Nate — yeah, I was kinda talking out of my [redacted] there. Kyrie would have to really, really, REALLY want to leave to prevent the Cavs matching any offer sheet and keeping him as an RFA.

Real video from James Dolan’s band, Straight Shot, from the set mentioned at the end of this podcast.
On Kyrie walking instead of signing an extension: no agent would let Kyrie leave $80 million sitting on the table for two full years, (the 4th year, plus the RFA year). More likely, there’d be intense pressure from Kyrie and the agent to facilitate a trade, with that move as the veiled threat
I actually agree with Mallory that, right now, superstar when referring to Kyrie should absolutely be in quotes. Right now, he is NOT a top 3 point guard. It gives me no joy to say that but it is what it is…
Podcast was going good until you guys had to talk about tanking, trading everyone away, firing Chris Grant. Really really too soon to go there. Season is depressing enough and this was just piling on. It overwhelmed anything positive afterwards like a nuke bomb. Meh…. Smh
Some reason for optimism: the Cavs have played more games than almost any other team to this point. Now that they can finally get some rest, and some practices in, maybe they start to put together something resembling an offense. Just a thought.
Kojo –
I put superstar in quotes only because that’s the term most commonly associated with Kyrie’s stardom. It had nothing to do with my personal beliefs on whether or not he is one.
Every post there is always something … Now Kyrie isnt a superstar? The dude is incredible and is truly one of the top 2/3 PGs in a PG heavy league. I’m not sure why it’s ‘and the teams biggest “superstar” struggling’ yes, he is struggling and yes he is a superstar.
Alright! Can’t wait to hear the 1st podcast of this season!
