Magic Mike Is Out
2014-12-05Mike Miller, the man who sort of won the Bucks game for the Cavs the other night, received a concussion against the Knicks less than twenty-four hours ago. Dave McMenamin is reporting that Miller will miss the game against Toronto tonight and then will undergo some more tests to reevaluate his playing status for the Monday game against Brooklyn. There is no certain timeline for his return. Miller hasn’t been contributing much for the team on the floor, but he has been very active talking to guys when they come to the bench. If he doesn’t get to travel with the team or hangout, he will surely be missed.
The concussion happened after he was whistled for an offensive foul while shooting a three pointer with under five minutes left in the fourth quarter. Carmelo Anthony hit him with his arm closing out on the shot. You can watch the play here. It didn’t look like Miller was too shaken up at time of the play because he managed to walk it off and stay on the floor for another two minutes. Hopefully, Mike is okay and doesn’t shy away from trying to draw contact on the three shot in the future.
Had to do something to fire tristen up…lol they’re done!!!!!
he must have heard me lol
Tristen is rebounding like a ten year old girl
Don’t know what kind of defense idiot blatt has the Cavs in but it isn’t working…Looks like he went to the Mike Brown school of defense
he’s simply a bum
shawn marion has got to go…period
George, the Game Thread is up. Don’t rant alone. Come join us.
Lol…i’m in on this rant
I’ve been saying from the start of the season for idiot Blatt to insert James Jones into the lineup…he finally does and low and behold what does he do…show up!!!!!We need a coach!

Pretty solid first quarter from the Cavs. LBJ shot still off, but he’s making great passes tonight. Love on fire from perimeter. Kyrie not as involved, but couple of nice plays so far. Andy bringing the energy tonight. TT with a terrific rebound and dunk to end the quarter. Dion missed a couple but decent ball movement and D. Solid interior D so far. Amir Johnson getting the Quincy Acy treatment tonight.
Good early game D from the Cavs. Little bit of dribble penetration, but Raps are getting some favorable bounces. Love looks like his shot is on tonight. Would still like to see him get the ball in the post though.
Great between the legs pass from Bron to Dion and then Dion finds Matrix in the corner for a sweet three
Andy playing like a MONSTER so far tonight
Completely apropo of nothing other than someone needing to take MM’s minutes tonight, but I wouldn’t mind seeing AJ Price get some run out there. Seems like he might be helpful guarding guys like Lowry and Sweet Lou.
Has he demonstrated any ability to be helpful in guarding a great player like Lowry?
He looked decent on D the handful of games he played with the Pacers. That may also be due to their overall defensive scheme, but with Dion sucking as you say and Harris not really doing much, it makes sense to at least see if Price can help.
Has Miller shown any ability in helping guard anyone all season? Yah, he had that one nice block the other night but when has he actually played consistent defense? And here you are pining for him. You do realize he’s had exactly one good half all season right? And prior to that, many people said age had caught up with him. Perhaps you were one of them. And here you are pining for him. He is younger than Ray Allen you do realize. Do you even realize what you say from post to post or day to day or does… Read more »
I’m pretty sure you’re not talking to me RickOH and that the above was meant for Cols? I had certainly been bagging on Mike Miller early this season admittedly. I was impressed by his play in the Bucks game and so it’s a shame to see him get knocked out at this point. I don’t think his play is irreplaceable, but his input with the other players on the sidelines might be. That was especially clear after reading the Grantland piece.
No, not meant for you.
Also, I think Miller is good for the team. My only problem with him isn’t even because of him. Its just that we have too many guys who play the same position and have the same skill set. That hurts our depth and is probably one of the reasons that rotations are an issue on the team.
This sucks. We need Miller.
Meh, its December. No reason to bring it yet. Team doesnt need to go all out for an early season game. Let Miller be.
Heck, the whole team should take it easy tonight and not bring much intensity to the game.
Its your formula for success right?
Cols, this is the second time you’ve said something “sucks” in the last two days. Yesterday you admitted that Dion currently “sucks.” Are you feeling okay?
Ha. Yeah I’m fine. Just because we are winning doesn’t mean that we can’t criticize certain underperfoming players like Dion. He’s been rather sucky.
As Marv the ignorant called it “the old Reggie Miller trick.” Wasn’t nearly as flagrant a leg kick as guys like Kobe have been doing for years. Hope Mike has a speedy recovery and is able to go next week. Figures, just as he was starting to make some real contributions. Maybe they’ll get Delly back in the next game or two to help compensate on the bench.
Not that I’m happy Miller got hurt, and I forgot to mention this in the recap, but the offensive foul call was the right one. You can’t kick your legs out like you’re doing some derpy jumping jack just to draw a foul. That’s bad form (basketball-wise and sportsmanship-wise). Mike looked like a jackaninny.
