In the Cavs LeBron-less final preseason game, the boys in wine and gold came up short to the Grizzlies ground and pound attack 96-92. Memphis stands at 21-5, just a game and a half back of Golden State for the best record in the league. Tom Pestak’s team to fear Memphis, currently ranks fifth league-wide in points allowed with a stingy 96.7 per game.
Will the Cavs improve upon their pathetic 2-6 record thus far against the Western Conference? Which team will control the tempo? Will this be remembered as the Jon Leuer revenge game?

Team looked GOOD tonight. The passing was fantastic. Waiters really brought it in the 4th quarter.
Are score keepers just high all game?
First thing I notice about the game I didn’t get to watch: “wow, Kyrie had 12 dimes.” I go to the video box score on NBA.com http://on.nba.com/1AwgEtH and the very first “assist” is Kyrie passing to Kevin Love….WHO THEN PASSES TO LEBRON who takes a few dribbles and then hits a 3. And Kyrie gets the assist. I checked the ESPN play by play. Yep….6:01 4-14 LeBron James makes 25-foot three point jumper (Kyrie Irving assists)
This is getting egregious. I’m not even LOOKING for scorekeeper mistakes – they’re just everywhere
Is there someone we can take this to and present a case? How can we blog with integrity without reliable box scores?!
My guess is that this happens in every arena in the league and has been happening for years and years and years. So basically, over large samples of games everyone’s assists totals have an upward bias in them. If you just accept that, then I don’t see what the problem is. Most people are using Assists as a relative measure of which players facilitate more. For that purpose they are fine.
might not be the best scoring / rebounding game for love—but really enjoying his improved effort on the defensive end —–that is good to see—–marion coming off the bench with dion also is good —-keep it going cavs !!—-still would like to see a few minutes for haywood now and then
No question love was in to the defensive mindset. I think Memphis didn’t want him to beat them so they forced others to. Dion and Marion were there. As was Andy.
Side note. Leuer will be a decent rotation player. He is athletic but not miles plumlee athletic.
Terrific TEAM performance. Can’t say enough about Andy’s energy, LBJ’s passing and D, Kyrie’s passing and inside-out scoring, Dion’s energy and shooting, Matrix bringing it off the bench, Love with some nice D. Just a great all-around win.

Great win! Cavs now officially the first team to shoot over 50% against Memphis all year. And it wasn’t close with nearly 62% shooting today.

I’ve said this many, many times – Dion needs a lot of touches to play well. If he doesn’t get touches, he never gets into a rhythm.

People will say that this is less impressive because there was no ZBo or Tony Allen, but that would be unfair to the effort these guys have brought today. This has been night and day compared to some of their other recent games.
