Fantasy Notebook: No Fantasy Here…
2014-12-30
If you’re a Cleveland Cavaliers fan (and I’m going to file that under assumption of you’re reading this) you have had your fill of fantasy. Fantasy was what led you to believe your favorite team would be a world destroyer in LeBron James’ first season back. Fantasy was what led you to dream about an amazing steam-powered offense under the healm of “verging on genius” David Blatt in his first turn through the NBA. Fantasy was the Cavs’ deep and verified roster. Fantasy is on thin ice around Lake Erie these days and so this turn through the pages of the fantasy notebook will be brief.
CtFL Update:
Last week’s CtFL update was conspicuously absent, but I could not in good conscious let Week 9’s 8-to-5-a-thon go completely into the sunset without acknowledging Mallory Factor’s Team The Factors of Love’s unexpected burst of relevance.
Mal’s squad took our Exitor Emergus to the relative woodshed and delivered something similar to this:
Not to be lost in the pre-holiday week smacking was an equally key victory for Evil Genius.
EG took early-season hot starter Ben Werth’s Team The Deutschiest to task and, if not Super Fly-ian in his disposal of Werth’s corps, at least delivered that can best be described as Koko B Ware-ian:
Flash forward to this past week and some familiar faces reclaim the top spots.
Team Krolik was again the victim of a Pistons v Cavs style whipping, this week at the hands of league juggernaut Team Alex Dirk, David Wood’s cadre of unparalleled excellence.
At this point in the season, Wood is like John McClain and the rest of us are just a bunch of German terrorists trying to hijack the Los Angeles high rise that is CtFL. We’re all like “David Wood, do you really think you stand a chance against us, Mr. Cowboy?” and Wood is all like:
Finally, my Team Waiters Invaders grabbed full hold of the number two spot in the league.
Cols, this was Team WI unleashing on you. If do right, the saying goes, no can defense.
Happy Fantasy Week, Cavs fans. May a little bit more of that fantasy creep back into the wine and gold’s season…
I was winning Sunday afternoon! I don’t know what happened! Then I missed my three hour window start guys off the waiver wire…
Lou Williams happened! Which thankfully (for me) was the case since Kyrie sat out two games and the Knicks decided to rest Amare since I guess he’s a senior citizen now.
I didn’t think you had any other guys to play!
I have to get my fantasy act together!!!!!
