Live Thread: Cavs @ Mavericks
2015-03-10
Our boys in wine and gold and sometimes blue travel to the land of shotgun shells and chicken fried steak for a matchup with the mighty Mavericks of Dallas. The Mavs beat the brakes off the LeBron-less Cavs at The Q by 29 points in early January.  This meeting should be a more competitive bout, as both squads are jockeying for playoff position. Dish.
believeland thank you on your comments to simmons ( not sure what he is putting in his pipe and smoking if he thinks love is going to boston ) wish the MOZ would have gotten 20—would have had 5 guys scoring 20—don’t see that to often
Now I know what Cols’ dreams are like!
Yeah don’t want to face Pacers in Round 1. Bucks are 4 games up on the Pacers and have a tougher schedule the remainder of month (Orl, @IND, @Mem, @NO, SA, @BKN, CLE, MIA, IND, GS, @ATL). Pacers schedule is: MIL, BOS, TOR, @CHI, @CLE, BKN, HOU, @WSH, @MIL, DAL, @BKN
With the way the Pacers are playing, they definitely have a shot at the 6th seed. I think they would prefer to face CHI/TOR anyway, so they’re motivated to get that 6th seed I’m guessing.
Better yet if they can get to fifth!
Hopin Washington drops to or Charlotte makes a run at the 7th spot. Indy is scary first round, given the cavs postseason inexperience.
As the game progressed, I thought they did a good job of establishing Love in the post. It’s important for the team to add this play, but it’s also important for Love to make these plays effective, which he wasn’t doing as effectively earlier as he was later on. I think the big reason why this dimension was added had to do with the team finally getting a practice. Even Perkins looked more effective in garbage time.
I think it’s all a matter of consistent touches…. what the Cavs did right tonight was go back to Love even though he missed those touches earlier in the game. Love rewarded them for their persistence. You just can’t stop going to one of your main weapons. They brought him here to be a weapon, they gotta use it. Plus, as soon as he got going inside, he was effective outside in the 4th quarter. Yeah, he probably shouldn’t have missed those easy ones in the early going, but I would contend that he missed those because he just hasn’t… Read more »
KI and LJ can be spectacular effortlessly, whereas KL can be spectacular when things are set up to make it happen. It is an obvious priority to make that happen as often as possible. JRS seems to be spectacular about half the time with no apparent pattern, but what a bonus!
Is there a better name than “Foots Walker?” In Cavs history? I think not.
HAHAHAHA…. no way… I gotta google that one!!!
That was too easy. On the road against a good Western Conference team. Yeah, whatever. Mavs just had no defensive answer for LeBron, Kyrie, and the rest. They put on the defensive pressure in the 2nd quarter, and just kept it on as they pulled away in the 3rd.
This is what the winning habits will do. The Cavs don’t have to push themselves to play this way, they just do because they are really getting accustomed to it. Solidly in the 2nd spot in the playoff standings, now.
SB Nations reaction to LBJ’s sans headband night: http://www.sbnation.com/lookit/2015/3/10/8188217/so-does-lebron-james-just-not-wear-a-headband-now
I hope we see more of this. I like the idea that this is a new LeBron Era. He’s no fool, he knows he need to separate the eras by more than just uniforms. Kinda like when Kobe shaved his head.
The lack of headband is disturbing to me. I hope it comes back.
JR SWISH…. 21 pts, 8 REBOUNDS…. great game.
Oh and Bill Simmons, yea, put that in your pipe and smoke it.
K-Love’s a Cav.
This was K LOVE’S GAME!!!!!
Mozgov played 33 minutes. Shumpert 32 minutes. There we go Blatt, that’s how we dominate
When we hit our 3s we are unstoppable.
That was a dominant win!
Wow, guys. Wow. So is this the model going forward?
Defense, ball movement, and consistent touches for K Love.
Tonight, the Cavs were the Hydra…
That botched end to the first quarter was probably their last bad sequence in the game…
The last six minutes of the second quarter though the first 6 minutes of the 4th quarter was essentially flawless. Effort, execution, aggression…the whole package.
Isaiah seems pretty impressed with the Cavs…
Which Isaiah? New, old or other?
The one on NBATV…
Cols should be first comment in on the recap with “I love this team. Nobody can beat them…” post…
Haha! Cols should DO the recap!
It would be short and sweet for sure…
We’ve got Leb, Love, Kyrie!!!
“Yep – no one can beat us”
Absolutely unbelievable performance. Played at an extremely high level tonight. Come April it’s gonna be scary when the tail end of the season is light on scheduling and they get some real time to rest and practice. Cavs are scary when they get time to practice.
Checked out Mavs Moneyball blog and they literally spent the entire game complaining about foul calls
Just like the Mavs did…
They were 3 Moz points away from having all 5 starters reach 20 points.
Great, convincing road win against a quality playoff WC team for the Cavs…
Coach Jim Carrey is not happy…
Aw… probably no shot at 130 now…
Blatt left the starters in long enough so the bench couldn’t blow it. They’re playing free and easy.
Exactly… he corrected the mistake he made last game. Well played by Blatt.
Hey, some nice ball movement that time!
James JOOOOOOOOONNNNNNEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
JFJ WITH THE ASSIST FROM #SAMSON!!!!
This will be known as the K LOVE game!!!
Perkins slammin down. Did he lose weight in the last week or something?
Well, he probably finally got a chance to practice with the team….
Told ya guys…. he’s look marginally better! HAHAHAHA!!!!
PERKINS AGAIN!!! even though it was on some junk hahaha!!!
Shump gets Perk a dunk!
PERK-JAM!!!!!!!!!!!
Just got home – holy heck
Nice to land to a blowout win, huh?
Well I can very faintly pick up 1100 after dark so on the ride home I checked in a few times and it sounded like they were up 12-14 the few times I tuned in. Get home, turned it on – its like 118-89 with 6 minutes left. My lord
The Cavs second half effort was really, really impressive. It extended all the way up until everyone was pulled for garbage time too. Instead of easing up and coasting, everyone emphatically put the nail in the coffin tonight.
Shump with 5 steals tonight!
Delly has looked better in this 4th… looks like he settled down.
Shump finally breaks the cold streak for this lineup on the floor…
Had plenty of open looks at least.
Yeah this one wasn’t very close.
Gonna be a bigger test against the Spurs…
I would like to see Joe H hit at least one of those corner threes…
I think he should also think about shot faking it, and taking it to the basket.
Wup…..nvm, spoke a tad bit too soon
Naw, I think he does look a little more comfortable…. a little… HAHAH!
