Live Thread: Cavs vs Bulls G2
2015-05-06Tristan Thompson gets the start tonight for the Cavs. We’ll see if Mike Miller, James Jones, or Shawn Marion factors into the rotation. You’d have to imagine at least one of them will play more than five minutes.
I don’t want to say this is a “must-win” for the Cavs because the definition of “must-win” should be reserved for “if you don’t win this game you don’t advance” which logically only occurs when you’ve already dropped three games. So let’s just say a split would leave the Cavs feeling pretty good given the absence of J.R. Smith and a loss will make advancing seem insurmountable. (A chasm, basically)
Still trying to figure out if Tom Withers is pulling a prank with this. If it’s true….I mean come on that is AWESOME. Why would you cancel the giveaway?! I mean this is Ted Stepien tossing softballs off the Terminal Tower-level stuff (minus the injuries and lawsuits). I love it. But I loved this and I’ve been told it betrays our politically correct sensibilities.
Here’s a pre-game scouting report from our man on the scene, Big EZK
There’s a buzz in the air of excitement and anxiousness as I’ve arrived in the Q. The crowd is loud but I’m overhearing some doubt and lack of confidence given the situation. Everyone is of the mindset that if we lose tonight, it’s a wrap. I do think that as a fan base, we have been spoiled to believe that is it this easy to improve this quickly and expect there to be Finals appearances without some trials.
Granted, losing Kevin Love and JR is a tough pill to swallow. Especially after a relatively healthy regular season.Based on the reports, it seems Tristan will start which to me is a blessing and a curse. The offense may be harder pressed to score with a lack of spacing. Defensively, I think Pau is enemy number one. Picks will probably be switched and match ups are better but one thing people need to keep in mind is that Chicago did change to match up with the Cavs, leaving only Noah or Gasol in for most of the 2nd half. Noah also did not score a point last game, which I doubt will be repeated.
Make your predictions, bring your hard hat to the comments section, let’s get this win.
@SportsBoyTony: Noah on bench watching Cardale Jones on the public address mic mouthed, “you ain’t in the SEC”

The one thing I’ll give Noah is that he makes this series even more interesting. He’s really easy to hate, but less easy lately because he looks pretty limited on the court. His mouth will never be limited though.
I don’t even know what that means. Does it mean he’s going to hit him? These hands?
Yes it means he will smack him for talking smack.
Didn’t Cardale beat Alabama? What is Noah smoking?
haha he DESTROYED alabama in his THIRD game as a starter.
Apparently fans were spitting on Noah, according to Noah.
@CJ12_: @JoakimNoah watch yo mouth before I give you these hands chump
Cardale Jones was at the game and really dislikes Noah!!!
LOL The halftime show on TNT, Shaq just fell coming out of his chair as he’s racing Kenny to the screen. Man these guys are hilarious.
Great game. Drinking Two Brothers Monarch White. Cavs took it to them as expected and will have Smith back for Game 3. Refreshing to see the lack of panic here after the Game 1 loss.
Is Cols gonna purchase a Delly jersey?
How was the Gund tonight?
The Gund was rocking so hard that it turned into the Q!
Kyrie with an effortless 21 tonight.. when did he get 12 free throw attempts? Even with that Bulls run in the 3rd quarter, Cavs were in control for 48 minutes.
We’ll win the series, just depends on how quickly the guys want to end it.
blatt has already been questioned on the possibility of another starting line up change —-what do you bloggers think SHUMP OR J.R.—-also it was great to see/ hear the ovation that love received
JR no doubt. He’s not losing his starting spot because of a suspension. But you’ll see tons of minutes with both shump and jr
EVIL I CAN’T STOP LAUGHING / MY WIFE IS LAUGHING EVEN LOUDER—-THANK YOU —YOU MADE MY / OUR NIGHT EVEN MORE SPECIAL !!
Hope you have a great one NOMAD!
Monster effort by TT & The King tonight. Smooth sailing for Kyrie — great work on D by the kid.
Big games from Shump, Delly, and JJ.
Miller and Perk did enough to keep things from falling apart when they were needed.
Huge win to even things up.
Even Delly played well today. Great game. We get JR back. They are ephed.
Cols remind me about your preseason “minutes Delly might play in the playoffs” prediction? Cuz I remember having some spirited back and forths.
I didn’t know love and smith would be out. He played well today though. Credit where it’s due.
and to be fair, tom, Delly’s minutes will be cut significantly with JR back if Shump’s injury isn’t too dire.
But man do i love it when he strokes a three. There’s just something so glorious about the blatant disrespect other defenses have for him even though he sports a ridiculously high percentage from three (for someone who gets disrespected and left alone more often than not)
It’s actually incredible how Blatt was able to rotate players in and out and keep their minutes low. Very impressive. Lebron and Kyrie with 34, Delly the high man with 36. That’s amazing.
Very efficient game.
Appreciate the effort Perk gave tonight when TT got in foul trouble, but I hope it doesn’t backfire and Blatt thinks he should be playing more, or regularly…..

Love Chuck calling it a “mail in game” by the Bulls… #noexcuses
Chuck just throwing up excuses for Bulls right and left… LOL
Apparently the Bulls weren’t trying to win the game at all
