Alex Kennedy just broke the news that the Cavs have reportedly come to terms with Iman Shumpert (and his awesome hair) on a four year, $40M deal…
Source: Iman Shumpert has agreed to a four-year, $40 million deal with the Cavs. Last year is a player option.

Gonna see this all year next year fellas. Just effortless to 65 wins minimum, and not even much of a toll on Lebron. Demolition, all the way back to the finals.
The finals will be a test like no other given what is brewing in the west, but we will be there and we will be ready.
Now look what you started me doing. Eleven triples!

Anyone hear anything on the Delly front. They threw him a restricted free agent qualifying offer, right? So he can seek another contract and the Cavs can match? Is that how it works. Do we know the details? 3 yr 9 mill maybe?
Qualifying offer is %125 of the prior year, or minimum salary + $200k. So $981,348 + $200K would be it for Delly. Qualifying offers are for 1 year.
http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2012/05/qualifying-offer.html
I don’t think anyone knows what Delly might be worth to other teams. My guess is that offers for him will come last.
So all the numbers that were thrown around (2 year 4 mill, 3 mill a year, etc) are contracts that COULD be offered by other teams or the Cavs. Sounds like we’ll let the market decide his value?
Annoying how the national media is casually passing along the news of Kevin signing a max deal with the cavs, without any acknowledgement whatsoever of how incredibly wrong they were for so long and how their “sources” are a load of bull $%&#!
Yeah, but they still have to live with all of the erroneous tweets, articles and podcasts that exist in the twitter/blogo/podo-sphere. They get some absolutely brutal comments on most everything they say.
That said, there was one guy from SI who apologized, but then he was one of the ones who believed KLove would stay…
I read that article on SI. But he was more along the lines of “I’m sorry this, I’m sorry that……but oh wait, I’m not sorry because I thought he was coming back the whole time”……… well how convenient for you.
Just some honest reporting, that’s all we ask. No manufactured narratives, go work in fiction if that’s what drives you.
Okay… this may be old already… but it still made me laugh…
Kings give Hinkie Stauskas, a player he wanted in that draft, in a salary dump. Apparently not getting Saric in return, either. Seems dumb, especially if the Kings are planning on using the cap space on Rondo and other flotsam. But that’s why they’re the Kings.
Hearing that they really want Monta Ellis and that’s who they’re clearing space for…

Kevin interview with the players tribune. Very interesting to hear from him.
Love him even more for being a nerd at heart. haha represent!
Happiness. Win. And Make Money. Love the KLove.

Haywood is going to get moved and it will be for someone good.
Cavs are gonna wait till a team really needs to clear some room and have to give up a good player to do it.
That’s a good point, Mate. Wait till someone is a bit desperate to clear space for a free agent.
Its fun to listen to the Windy-Simmons podcast below where they just completely make up stories about Love leaving the Cavs for an hour.
http://espn.go.com/espnradio/play?id=12594321
James Jones is unrestricted, correct? Any word on if LBJ is mandating the front office for his return?
I assume vet min is on table. All they can offer.
Which should be plenty to sign JFJ I would think…
So are we going to get anything for Haywood?

Friends don’t let friends trade for Jarrett Jack.

Adding DeRozan would absolutely blow me away.
Is it too early to start brainstorming on lineups? We have 4 very good bigs but not sure what the best combinations are. Assume Love will start but with Timo? That puts TT and Andy together. Thoughts?
It will be Timo and Love to start. One defensive Ace with one offensive Ace. Granted calling Andy an offensive Ace is a bit of an oversell but he provides a lot more than TT or Timo on that end
I’d love for Blatt to keep running different lineups out there. Keep the scouts guessing and be ready for an injury or 2 to crop up. We all know in the end it could just be Lebron doing the Finals thing again. We hope not but it could be.
Plus we have Christmas to add depth and insurance…very nice front court
The Cavs sure did get a lot done in one day! I was thinking we’d be sitting on pins and needles. One big loss could have blown it all up.
WFNY has a nice piece on Rakeem Christmas:

Apparently Mavs and Raptors are after Wes Mathews.
Knicks should be throwing the kitchen sink at Mathews, Monroe, and the bathroom sink at Afflalo.
Heck, grab the freaking bath tub.
Would be hilarious if Phil just strikes out on everyone. Not looking like David West is going to sign there anymore. Heard Monroe is intrigued by the Bucks too.
The Knicks might need a league exemption to play with a four-man roster.
What a fraud Phil has turned out to be. It is a major accomplishment to win it all even when you have the best players, so I will grant him that. But he appears clueless as a GM. He is wowing the sophisticated NYC crowd with smoke and mirrors.
It almost feels like no one wants to play with either Kobe or Melo.
Would be hard to find two more desperate, yet selfish stars in the league… Imagine if they’d have pulled off playing together…
The Thunder signing Singler to a five year, 25 million extension is a tremendous signing. Very intelligent front office there.
Cant tell if this is sarcasm. Because I actually think it was a good signing but that front office hasn’t made a good move since extending Ibaka. They made 2 great picks with Harden and Ibaka, and the Westbrook pick was overrated because the second choice was Love. But since then they have made more bad moves then good ones. Im pretty sure they are about to lose Westbrook and Durant next year.
Their roster is stacked. They have an awesome draft resume. Besides being unable to keep Harden (who obviously was too talented to be a sixth man and third option), they have been a great front office. No sarcasm. I don’t see Durant leaving.
Really going to come down to the health of his foot. As Big Z can attest, foot problems are nothing to take lightly…
Outside of the big three their roster is terrible. And Harden had a full year before he became a restricted free agent. They had a top 5 player and in return they got the 13 pick (Steve Adams), Jeremy Lamb and 1 year of Kevin Martin. All-time worst trade. And since drafting Harden what picks have they nailed?
I feel like the East has just gotten weaker after free agency. Hawks definitely got weaker. Boston is failing to make any kind of splash what so ever. Wizards got weaker. Chicago has just been leaving a bad taste in everyone’s mouth with the strange locker room vibes, I don’t see Hoiberg guiding them to the Finals. Brooklyn is a joke. Toronto, Miami, Indiana, Milwaukee may be getting stronger, but still hard to see them as formidable contenders. I mean who else might make a run to the playoffs? Detroit? Charlotte? Makes me chuckle. Cavs look ready to absolutely tear… Read more »
I agree. Still early though.
There just isn’t the superstar talent in the East either (apart from the Cavs). Think about the West with Curry/Thompson, Harden/Howard, Durant/Westbrook, CP3/Blake, Duncan/Kawhi, Gasol/Randolph. Even some of the bottom teams have stars to build around – NO with Davis, SAC with Cousins, Minny with Wiggins/Towns. To win in today’s league, you need at least two legitimate All-Stars before even thinking about filling out the surrounding roster. Only teams in the East that have even ONE go-to guy right now (much less two) would be Indiana with PG13, Washington with Wall, and the Bulls with Butler (+/- Rose if you… Read more »
Daaaaaaaaaamn, that would have been a night for Cleveland. Carrasco took a no hitter to the final out before losing it.
Three straight Cleveland pitchers had perfect games through 5 innings against the Rays. Amazing.
And Kluber is pitching tomorrow. Four in a row?
CAVS RUMORED TO BE IN TALKS WITH CARON BUTLER —–MIGHT BE A GOOD FIT —?
Agreed. He could be a nice back up 3 and small ball 4. James Jones type but not quite the shooter
Plus the dude chews drinking straws… I’ve always liked that about him… even when he was on those annoying Wizard teams…
Trolling the media: http://www.nj.com/sixers/index.ssf/2015/07/lebron_james_dwyane_wade_spotted_together_creates.html
Do ya think Lebron would be willing to play for 10-12 million on a one year contract, so that Wade can play here for one year (8-10 mil)? If I was Lebron, knowing what the cap is going to be like next year – I’d do it!
You forget we are already 30 million over the cap and we haven’t signed Lebron yet
A GREAT DAY IN BELIEVELAND —–NOW DO WE SIGN JR OR TRY TO GO AFTER A RELACEMENT USING HAYWOODS CONTRACT AS BAIT ——IF JR IS SMART ( HISTORY IS NOT ON HIS SIDE ) AND THE CAVS WANT HIM BACK AT ” THEIR ” PRICE —I WOULD NOT HESITATE TO SIGN IF I AM HIM —-NOT SURE AT THIS TIME IF CAVS ARE REALLY PURSUING JR THAT STRONGLY —-WAITING TO SEE WHAT DEVELOPS ON THE FREE AGENT HORIZON
The Thunder and the Spurs, barring they land Aldridge, will also be ridiculously good.
Spurs, Warriors, Thunder, and Cavs. My goodness, gracious.
Right….but those 3 are in the West so Cavs would only need to beat one in the Finals….nice to be in the East.
Lebron at 28 minutes a game, and only playing around 74 or so games (rest spaced out throughout year), I still think this team could win 70 games.
They will be ridiculous next season.
He was right around 35 mpg post All-Star break – expect Blatt to taper that down to low 30s. With how much improvement they made with the current squad in just a half season, I think chemistry continues to grow and the rest of the guys realize they can shoulder the load while LBJ is in “chill mode.”
agreed MINUTES ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN WINS —–WE PROVED HOME COURT IS NOT THAT IMPORTANT —YOUR HEALTH IS !!!—–EVIL MAN I AM GUTTING IT —MY WIFE IS YOUR BIGGEST FAN / LAUGHS AT EVERYTHING YOU POST ( I AM JEALOUS —ALL I HAVE TO OFFER IS FIREWORKS )
When I was your age, I offered my wife plenty of fireworks.
Never underestimate the power of fireworks, NOMAD!
Over/under 70 wins next season?
If they decide they’re on a mission, and they stay healthy, they could threaten 70 wins.
But they’ll be better off managing minutes for everyone and holding LeBron out of back-to-backs. Peak in the playoffs.
If everything pans out, they could manage minutes and still get to 70! Where is Cols?? That is the trouble with weed, you can miss one of the biggest days of your life. He will probably predict 77 wins.
Or maybe… 4:20 /// 4×20 = 80 wins!
Don’t care about regular season wins. The only wins that matter are the final 16.
If they were healthy they could threaten 72 easily. But that won’t be the mission
Well under. Regular season milestones don’t matter. I would expect each of the Big Three to take some time off, either from injuries or just for rest.
@CavsDan also bought a new truck today…
The Genius!
Cavs livin’ large this week.
I think this is the post/picture of the year.
Again, thank you Dan Gilbert. The owner of the year!
Just an unbelievable day, wow.
Dan Gilbert is a dream come true.
I agree. Thank you Mr. Gilbert…from Cleveland fans everywhere!
For $40 million, hopefully the Cavs are getting 300 shots a day from Shump in the offseason.
Can’t wait to get my Raquim Christmas Holiday jersey.
Just need to bring back JR, Delly and whatever “THE CONTRACT” nets us.
I WOULD THINK SEASON TICKETS ( IF NOT ALREADY SOLD OUT ) ARE SELLING FAST —–NEXT 4-5 YRS AS A CAVS FAN ARE GOING TO BE ELECTRIC // GOING TO COST ME A FORTUNE IN FIREWORKS !!
Wow. Gilbert is spending like he’s buying buildings in Detroit.
Reminds me of Gordon Bombay getting the Ducks back together.
Ron Burgundy: “News team, assemble!”
Touched
“well played”
I kinda felt it was going to take about $10 million to sign Shumpert. That is, I was sure somebody else would offer him that much. I love the Shump. And we get him for 4 years!
WOW CHRISTMAS IN JULY —-THANK YOU DAN !!!—–WAIT WE STILL NEED TO SIGN A CERTAIN PLAYER NAMED LEBRON ——-QUESTION NOW DOES JR COME TO CAVS TERMS OR WILL CAVS USE THAT MONEY ON ANOTHER FREE AGENT
Get your fireworks ready NOMAD!
Drafting Christmas was a stroke of genius! A couple days later, Santa delivers!
And, what can Sir bring for the King?
