[BREAKING NEWS]: Iman Shumpert Sidelined 12-14 Weeks
2015-09-29Iman Shumpert will undergo surgery on his right wrist and is expected to be sidelined 12-14 weeks, the Cavaliers announced Tuesday afternoon. The team says Shumpert ruptured the extensor carpri ulnaris in his wrist a few days ago.
LeBron on Iman Shumpert: "Like I told you guys yesterday, injuries are probably the only thing that can stop us longterm."
— Dave McMenamin (@mcten) September 29, 2015
Dr. Thomas Graham and Dr. Richard Parker of Cleveland Clinic Sports Health confirmed the extent of the injury on Monday after an MRI. The surgery is scheduled for Wednesday. Shump just re-signed over the summer for four-years, $40 million. Reports estimate his return timeline for sometime in January. We wish him a speedy recovery from this most unfortunate set-back, and look forward to seeing him back on the court in 2016.
They need to pick the best ball-handling PG from that scrap heap of guys they are bringing to camp. The amount of time Delly and Mo are looking at playing isn’t good, isn’t what was expected. I know Mo could and would play deep minutes, but he’s 32 and hasn’t played above 31 MPG since 2010. We need him in the playoffs. Delly could benefit from longer minutes so he’s not fat and out of shape but not on the wrong side of 30 per game.
Delly had a great game 3.
Shhhhhhh… don’t remind Cols… He’ll give you the Delly speech…
My rebuttal: Math is fun.
Jeff Van Gundy — Mike when you ask a guy to give it all up for the team Dellavadova’s picture should be on it.
I am concerned about the CAVS injury squad. It’s a real problem.
David Lee was really a problem for the CAVS in this game.
The CAVS should give Kyrie the month of March off.
I don’t understand why the coaching and training staff would want Kevin Love to slim down so much. He looks too light. If they do want him to be more than a spot up shooter, as I’m sure he himself does, he should have mass to bang down low.
CAVS really stunk in this 4th quarter. Dubs went on a 15-3 run to start the quarter.
Oops didn’t mean to post this here. Yeah I don’t get why Love wants to lose so much weight? Perhaps the injury played a factor. He was probably limited in conditioning.
I’m glad David Lee isn’t on the Dubs any longer.
I hope Moz spent some time strengthening his hands in the offseason.
The CAVS should give Bron the month of December off.
I hate the Dubs but I do like Livingston. Such an amazing story for a guy that had such a gruesome injury.
I forgot Haywood was on this team.
Remember when the rule of verticality existed in the first few games of the finals then suddenly didn’t apply during the rest of the series?
Arch… You may be an addict… ?
I’m only watching games we won. Only $2 on ITunes. Watched the Kyrie 57 point game vs SAS last night. Yes I’m hooked. Can’t wait for the season to start.
Hard core! I like it!
So was watching some Sasha Kaun highlights and the Euro broadcast pronounced his last name as “Cown.”
Dellavadova for 3 — BANG!
I’m baffled that Green hasn’t received any techs for his tantrums at the officiating crew.
I love the DELLY chants!
Curry had 3 points in the first half.
James FREAKING Jones was clutch right before the half.
All of Isreal is behind the CAVS!
My guess is that the 15th man will get a lot of time this year. KI, KL, AV, and IS will ether not be playing for months, or will be on limited minutes for months. Hopefully LBJ will be on limited minutes and will sit out 10 or 15 games. Given that KI, KL, AV, and IS are historically injury prone, even when they are back it would be smart to limit their minutes. The windup is that 5 of the top players will be getting way less total minutes than usual. Thus the other 10 guys will be getting… Read more »
Forgot to mention that Moz had some (hopefully minor) procedure recently, and might miss some time. If there are some brief injury issues, the Cavs might be playing with eight guys a few nights. So, yea, the 15th man will matter.
Man I really hate Draymond Green. He’s a POS! Such a dirty player.
Derrick Rose has an eye injury and will miss some time.
Iguodala really had a good series. Deserved the MVP.
I’m re watching game 3 of the finals and man do the Warriors love setting those moving screens.
Yep. Moving screens and grabbing jerseys. Bunch of crap. If every team is going to be using the pace and space offense, officials have to start calling illegal screens,
This wasn’t a good game for Green. He had a lot of whining and pouting.
Sounds like a pretty typical game.
I’ve got tickets to two CAVS games for Nov. 4 vs the Knicks and Nov. 19 vs the Bucks. Super pumped.
Ugh. Sucks to start the season with bad news. This is going to be a slow start this year. Mo Williams better be ready to bring it in November, cause we’re really gonna need him and Delly.
Well, as disheartening as this Shump news is, how great is it to watch Mogatti in a Cavs jersey doing interviews again? Love that guy, really looking forward to watching him play for us again.
Doubt any of those guys make an impact but all the perimeter guys seemingly would have a chance. Cook could play point guard a bit and maybe let Delly and Jefferson play more at shooting guard and small forward, respectively. Cunningham and Stephens offer similar physical profiles to Shumpert and were very good defenders in college, but have poor offensive games. Daye would possibly allow Jefferson to play more at shooting guard. Obviously title contenders don’t want to rely on training camp guys, but if it helps the Cavaliers get and stay healthy then I wouldn’t put it past them.
They would all be DNP – coaches decision for every game,
DUE TO THE ” RECENT IMAN INJURY ” PLUS THE UNKNOWN TIMETABLE OF KYRIE / LOVE’S RETURN WE SHOULD HAVE A LITTLE CTB POLL / CONTEST WHICH RECENT CAMP INVITEE MAKES THE TEAM—-
!) STEPHENS
2) COOK
3) DAYE
4)CUNNINGHAM
5)DUINIGAN
THESE ARE MY CHOICES IN THAT ORDER —-LET’S HEAR FROM MY FELLOW CTB BROTHERS
Pick one randomly and the outcome is the same. So I guess go with the youngest bounciest guy.
None of those guys will be playing anyways.
DJ Stephens is the bounciest… even though he has no real outside shot to speak of…
JR will start in place of Shumpert.
With Mo coming off the bench for Kyrie, Delly moves over to backing up JR.
Joe Harris gets a few clean up minutes.
I don’t think those other guys are in the mix much.
Anyone know how Iman injured his wrist?
In other news, D-Rose got his face caved in today. That’s a great job Hoiberg, have a contact practice on the first day of camp.
Per ESPN reports: Coach Fred Hoiberg described it as “a good, hard elbow,” before the extent of Rose’s injury was known and said Rose “looked great when he was out there.”
Now it sounds like it was Taj Gibson’s fault…
Having a full speed, full contact practice on the first day of camp is asinine. Guys needed to get gradually acquainted with pace, physicality, and rhythm. Most players have not played competitive 5 on 5 for months.
Imagine if that was Blatt running a full contact practice last year as a first-year coach and something like that happening to LeBron, Kyrie or Love? We’d be calling for his job already…
Time to bring over the Jedi, Cedi Osman!
I like this idea, I don’t think it happens tho. We will run with one of the current guys on our roster
I don’t know what this says… but I’m pretty sure it’s “Return of the Jedi” in Turkish…
I think this opens up an opportunity for Quinn Cook, Jared Cunningham and DJ Stephens.
i want dj on the final roster just so he and lbj can brainstorm dunks.
Delly better come into this season in better shape than he was in the Finals.
I saw Delly a couple of weeks ago at a Red Robin, looked as big as a whale. He told me, “don’t worry, I’ll have it burned off before the season, I always do”. So you can rest easy.
Reeeeddddd Robin.
You missed the best part, Kevin… the “YUMMMM!” at the end…
Seriously funny, Mike O
I hope he comes in looking like an Octagon. That would be a better shape.
Ha! I’m literally laughing at loud. This and the Red Robin post above were just hilarious.
” I’M MAD AS HELL… AND I’M NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE “

insert pic please
garblge garbel
Better now than come playoffs.
Really disappointed, was hoping to have the full team for most of this year, especially part of the three that missed the first half of last year. Grrr!
Lovely. More Delly for Nate and cols, anyway.
Maybe we can have a column after each game about why Delly sucks/why Delly is awesom.
Or just a weekly podcast with Cols and Nate arguing for an hour…
This ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Yes! Please. I’d listen to that.
I like this weekly column idea, only Nate would have to do the part on why Delly sucks and you’d do why he’s awesome. Make things entertaining.
We could call it the Delly Counter! (point counterpoint)
Gold star, Joey B…
his shooting hand
sucks
goodthingwehavetheking
Now if he was in shape this wouldn’t have happened.
