Shump-tastic News
2015-12-11According to Cavs’ beat reporter, Chris Haynes, Iman Shumpert has been cleared to play and the Cavs will activate him for tonight’s game in Orlando against the Magic. It still remains to be seen if Shump will actually see the court, something that will depend on how he does in the morning shootaround and pre-game warmups.

Shump has been missing, and sorely missed, from the Cavs’ rotation this early season, after injuring his wrist during a dunk in a preseason practice session. The 6’5 guard, who was a key to the team’s late season defensive scheme, and ultimately took over the starting SG spot in the playoffs, averaged eight points on 41% shooting (34% from three) last year, with nearly four boards and 1.3 steals per game. His presence was mostly felt on the defensive end, although he was focusing on his three point shooting in the off-season before his injury set him back.
Meanwhile, in other Cavs’ backcourt news, Kyrie Irving has not yet been activated, although David Blatt has indicated that he still could be on this road trip. J.R. Smith also was unable to join the team on the trip to Orlando due to illness, so the Cavs will hope that Iman is ready.
Interesting article on guarding Steph. Everything these guys said is what Delly did. Delly is the best.

They said too many guards give up defending him. Most of his opposing point guards feel demoralized that not only they can’t defend against him that they can’t even match his points. To add insult to injury they say Curry doesn’t even defend. He can just relax
This is also why we need Shump to develop a post game. He’s going to have Curry on him. We need Curry to work on defense. Shump or Delly or JR is going to need to be a threat. JR can just run him through a million screens. But Shump and Delly will need to set some screens for Irving and James, and Shump should back him down. Exhaust him on both ends
Pluto with a great remembrance piece on Hot Rod…
What a sweet guy, and a fine player. Do it for Hot Rod tonight, boys!
RIP Hot Rod. A true Cavs great.
Glad to is Scump back. Now ease him into the mix and add Kyrie as soon as ready ;)
With the recent change in offense in the Blazer’s game second half, this is the best possible time for their comeback.
*See not Is – stupid me.
John “Hot Rod” Williams, who played 13 years in NBA, passed away from cancer today according to agent Mark Bartelstein. He was 53.
Wow its truly incredible what cancer has done to humanity. Sending good vibes to the family and friends.
Very sad. Thoughts and prayers with the Willams family…
Rest in peace Hot Rod…
That’s disappointing. Prostate cancer can be fairly curable too, but obviously not 100%. RIP Hot Rod!
I did not know JR was sick but amen to Shump being back! woohoo!
