Live Thread: Bulls at Cavs
2016-01-23Game 1 of the LueBron era starts tonight. Also, Game 1 of the Saturday night NBA on ABC era.
Well, the Bulls have dropped six of eight and Joakim “Pebbles” Noah is out for the season. Mike Dunleavy is still recovering from surgery and Kirk Hinrich is out. Derrick Rose is a shell of his former self. The Bulls are hurting, basically.
Jimmy Butler has asserted himself as one of the best young players in the NBA and Pau Gasol remains surprisingly effective at age 35. The Bulls have some pieces in Tony Snell, Taj Gibson, and Nikola Mirotic but they seem to be stuck in “6th-man” or “x-factor” type production/consistency.
Ty Lue has already stated that he will play a 10-man rotation. Good. I’d rather he just do it than signal that he’s going to do it but, whatever. I’m getting prepared for some awkward press conferences – Lue turned off a lot of Cavs fans today when he said he wasn’t going to be make the Cavs different from Blatt, just “better”. Sounds like he didn’t mean any slight by it, but…that’s a rough transcript to spin. He also said that he’s going to get the ball to Kevin Love at the elbow. If it’s not painfully obvious that this is happening in the near future, and the Cavs struggle, prepare for all the heat of this collective hot seat to cook Kevin Love alive.
I’m actually optimistic about tonight’s game. Let’s talk about it here. As a fun aside, let’s have a Lue pun contest. If you see a good one, just reply to the comment and award points or Schrute bucks. Here’s the conversion:
The contrast of how they played against the Clippers versus how they played against the Bulls.
Anyone could coach the cavs, What Blatt achieved was the floor for their potential, right guys?
Rude awakenings ahead.
Just watched the post game interview, are you sure this guy is a NBA head coach?!!
No that was a stunningly bad take by Lue. If Blatt said some of the things Lue, he would have been taken to the woodshed by Griffin. Amateur hour at best.
“Eff it… I’ll just coach them myself…” @CavsDan
An appropriate denouement…
I thought it was only right…
Goodnight Cavs fans… tomorrow will be a better day…
“If you ain’t first… you’re LAST!” – Ricky Bobby
YES PREACH!!! This is doing great things for Cav fans spirit awareness. I can handle prosperity now. Free at Last!!
“Like I always say… I’ve seen you guys can shoot but there’s more to the game than shooting. There’s fundamentals and defense.” Coach Norman Dale
Yeah but the shooting from Kyrie and Love sucks.
To say nothing of LBJ….
All the pressers are on the Cavs’ website now…. I’m checking them out.
Okay Evil Genius You Have to do Ricky Bobby!! You ain’t first……..
“You wanna finish in second place again, Danny boy? You know what second place gets you? A set of steak knives!” – Blake
Fabulous film through and through, and Baldwin at his absolute peak for the couple of minutes he’s in it.
A set of steak knives was third prize.
Second I think… third place was “You’re fired!”
If anyone needs a good laugh read through this game thread. Probably the only good thing to come from the implosion of the Cavs.
Lol!!!! Thanks for that!
Love that response Nate… HAHAHAHAHHA!!!
Griffin might end up in the Cuyahoga river by this time next week if CavsDan’s goons have anything to say about it.
He criticized Grant for being a creeper and he is doing the same thing. Did that thought , “Oh Sh$% , I just screwed up Big Time”
“People… please! Who knows more about combining the spirit and weight loss than… OPRAAHHHHH!!” – Oprah Winfrey
WOOOOOOOOWWWW!!!! Just when I think you can’t top the last one…
I really wonder what’s going on with Dan Gilbert. Blatt was a guy he liked. He’s been around enough, I mean, LBJ 1.0 he screwed up by not making him accountable. Was he really this displeased with the team that he thought this was a good idea? It still may work out. Maybe once they get in shape and connected to their spirit animals they’ll be the team we saw glimpses of last year. But something tells me we’re going to miss having someone on the sidelines who has more than 41 games experience in his head coaching career come… Read more »
I just had a vision of Lue having to game plan against Pop for game seven.
You’re going to have nightmares tonight!
Forget Game 7… what about next Saturday night?
O.K. You frightened me there. (No /s)
I have a feeling that he’s not going to be loving sitting through that Spurs game next week.
“OMG, Dan! Ty Lue is 100% right about one thing… these Cavs are OUT OF SHAPE! Let me at em!” – Richard Simmons
O No…. we’ve entered the Twilight Zone!!!!!
Oh I can hear it now. C’mon ladies (whoops it’s a habit) let’s go and a 1 and a 2 stretch and lunge
Man… I wish Kyrie didn’t suck and his lungs wouldn’t burn #wisdomofCols
“Chopra is a hack, Dan. The only way to true spiritual enlightenment for this team is to hire me… so I can train my successor, Delly.” – The Dalai Lama
OH Man I love this one too!!! Delly is the truth!!!
LMAO Best one yet!!!
The Lama – a big hitter according to Bill Murray in Caddyshack – could go on a hunger strike after a game like Chicago until the players improved their connectiveness.
Man… I wish LBJ wasn’t so fat and out of shape #wisdomofCols
Been thinking about that presser and how freaking dumb it was that NO ONE asked Griff if he sat down with Blatt and talked about fixing the accountability, handling of success, or the “connectedness” problems, you know, BEFORE firing the coach. Huge “der” moment by the media there.
HAHAHAHAHAHA…. WOW… that’s a great point Nate and it’s like journalism 101…. just goes to show that all those media stooges are not there for journalism.
I mentioned that the other day. Felt the same way. My first question would have been “So how did David Blatt try to fix this problem when you first brought it to his attention?”
Sorry I missed that. I did’t think of it either. In their defense, the whole thing was just dumbfounding.
Nate, this is a very profound thought. The locker room was awry. Did Griff go over this with Blatt? Did he give Blatt the green light to “tear into” Lebron? Probably not (esp the second one.)
The media is one never-ending “der moment.”
Someone should have asked him if he’d touch poop for $20.00!
“The only way to be truly good at basketball is to be spiritually connected. I can bring those qualities to this team…” – Deepak Chopra
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
OH MY I STAND CORRECTED THIS ONE CONNECTS WITH ME ON A SPIRIT LEVEL!!!!!
HAHAHAHA. That one really galvanized me.
OMG You guys are on a roll tonight!!
