Live Thread: Cavs at Hawks
2016-04-01https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FirzS-AORa4#t=58s
The last time these two teams played was November 21st. Â Can you remember how you felt about the Cavs on November 21st? Â The Hawks have quietly become as the 3rd best team in the East, behind the Cavs and the Raptors. Â But they are in a 3-way tie at 31 losses with the Heat, Celtics, and Hornets. Â The Cavs will be playing with a full deck tonight. Â The Hawks may get the support of a feisty home crowd tonight, as I’m sure Matthew Dellavedova and company will conjure up some bitter emotions from the ECF sweep.
The Cavs should hold the rebounding and 3-point shooting advantage against the Hawks. Â The Hawks have a more free flowing offense and generate more assists. Â The also turn it over a fair amount. Â They are a scrappy defense and get a fair share of steals and blocks. Â The key to the game for the Cavs could be playing to the Hawks scouting report and limiting turnovers on offense.
Let’s talk about it!
Does it annoy anyone else that no-one qualifies the GSW win streak with 54 straight REGULAR SEASON wins? They did lose at home in the playoffs to the Cavs, and have won 37 straight at home but 54 straight in the regular season…For some reason it just bugs me that no-one makes that qualification on the streak…
I’d really love for the Cavs to challenge themselves to get to 60 wins. Win the last 6 games (which would give them a streak of 8 straight heading into the playoffs). Hit 60 wins!
McMenamin has a fantastic article about Kyrie’s struggles and why the Cavs kept going to him late in this game despite the terrible shooting. A blurb: “We’ll find out soon enough. The playoffs start in a couple weeks. One thing is for sure, though: It makes no sense for the Cavs not to back Irving now. The only way they’ll be able to achieve the greatness that they’re after is if Irving is a key component. That’s why they put the ball in Irving’s hands late when they knew Atlanta was going to foul and put somebody at the line.… Read more »
I agree they will need KI to be good if they are to do anything this playoffs…not convinced that is going to happen, though. I’ll need to see it first.
I just want to say, Coach Lue isn’t even half the coach that Blatt was.
With each passing game, I am more and more convinced that the Spurs will be representing the West. They are a better team and are smartly resting players. Golden State is exhausting themselves chasing this record, and its going to mean exactly nothing when the playoffs start. I mean, congrats and all, but the spurs will be ready and waiting. The Spurs have the best diff and are 38-0 at home. No one is talking about it. They’re likely going to break the home record (40-1) unless pop decides to throw it just for fun. They regularly beat teams with… Read more »
The rested Spurs didn’t even get out of the first round last year. There’s no back to backs in the playoffs.
I’ll never doubt San Antonio tho.
They’re good, and a well run organization, but everyone always kisses Pops ass like he created basketball, and he cost the Spurs home court in the first 2 rounds of the playoffs with his ‘rest’ bs. They needed one more win for 2 seed, and instead slid to 5th seed with no homecourt ad, and of course in the 1st round they go to game 7 on the road and lose. At least the Spurs got plenty of rest for the remainder of the playoffs….
Yeah. But that was more of LAC as a bad match up for their team. Sure they could’ve avoided the 5th seed, but imo as long as they face LAC in that first round they lose. I still guarantee you that Pop could give a f*ck about seedings.
Match ups are definitely key. OKC can make it out west. But their position makes it more difficult. If they come out of the Spurs series with good health and not exhausted as hell, I can see KD,Russ and company finally figuring out GS. KD more so I think is pissed and confident he can out-impact Steph.
So happy, cyborg missed a shot, Celtics are a scrappy team with a great coach. Warriors can be beat!
CELTICS WON CELTICS WON AHHHH
Boston is actually a great team……..wow
They’re tough and smart, but we wipe the floor with them. Matchups are so interesting.
Agree. They have looong ways to go. But the future is certainly bright because of that Nets pick.
@BillSimmons: commence the self pleasuring!
Wow. The Warriors turned a 4-on-1 break into a turnover and an Isaiah Thomas layup. Maybe they won’t get to 75 wins after all.
This Warriors Celtics game is incredible
$hit. I can’t root for the Celtics or the Warriors. Not now. Not maybe in a few years..
Celtics have played them as well as anyone this year.
If the Celtics win at Oracle, there will be self pleasuring going on at the Simmons mansion tonight. All night. Probably while tweeting with the other hand.
Why did we lose the comments nesting to a 2nd level?
The Hawks win was a good one. They have very good players. Outside of a Wash loss they’ve only lost to GSW, Tor, and Cle since late Feb.
Celtics-Warriors
Turns into a slasher flick
Blood is everywhere
(Don’t mean to cause alarm if you aren’t watching — just two players needing cuts treated at the same time.)
Doesn’t anyone cut their nails?
