Live Thread: Cavs @ Bucks
2016-12-20In what seems like a fluke in the schedule, the Cleveland Cavaliers will play home-and-home back-to-back in one week when they take on the Milwaukee Bucks the next two nights. Unlike their back-to-back last week against the Memphis Grizzlies, the Cavaliers will be the road team first, as they take on the Bucks tonight at 8:00 at the Bradley Center.
The Bucks come into tonight’s game as the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference, a bit surprising considering they have been without shooting guard Khris Middleton all season. Middleton, likely out for the year with a torn hamstring that required surgery to repair, is one of the best 3-and-D players in the league, and an underrated playmaker.
Of course, the Cavaliers shouldn’t be surprised by the Bucks at this point. After all, the Bucks are 1-0 against the champs this season, courtesy of a dominant 118-101 victory in Milwaukee on November 29th. That night Giannis Antetokounmpo was the the best player on the floor, posting 34 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, five steals, and two blocks in 35 minutes of action. Overall, the Cavs allowed the Bucks to shoot 53.5% from the floor as they had trouble dealing with Milwaukee’s superior length and athleticism.
With Kevin Love missing tonight’s game with a knee contusion, the Cavs will start Richard Jefferson in his place.. With Chris Andersen out for the season and love out for the evening, the Cavs are down to just two legitimate big men, and starting Jefferson means that they can keep Frye and Tristan Thompson apart in the rotation. Despite this, look for the Cavaliers to come out with solid energy from the opening tip. The Bucks had their way with the Cavaliers last month, and if there’s one thing this team has shown, it’s that they rise to the occasion whenever their pride is challenged.
Be sure to tune in to Fox Sports Ohio at 8:00 tonight to watch the Cavaliers and the Bucks, and be sure to stop by and share your thoughts here with the gang at Cavs: The Blog!
ESPN REPORTED J.R. WITH POSSIBLE BROKEN THUMB —IF SO NOW WHAT DO WE DO ?
Wow. Didn’t see it but LeBron and Kyrie seem to have carried the team! Great job.
Saw rogue one. Pretty good movie.
Man… I thought the Jazz were better than this…
Thoughts: 1. Seems like this would have been a good matchup for Felder v. Dellavedova for a few minutes. Delly’s weakness on D is against quick guards. 2. Lue just plays with fire with his minutes management of LBJ. I’ll bet you LBJ plays tomorrow. 3. I still don’t get the reason not to match Delly’s contract, unless Delly asked us not to. We needed a PG, he has chemistry with the team, plays effort D, and we have this Andy exception that we’ll probably have to use anyway. Delly on 4 years 40 mill is very reasonable. 4. Milwaukee… Read more »
On point 2, I agree that LeBron needs a good bit of rest over the regular season, but occasional marathons early are good training. He is likely to play tomorrow, too. Of all the ways that LeBron is the best ever, the superhuman stamina and never getting injured is one of the best. Of course, we could be playing with fire in the sense that if he keeps playing this much, he might finally have a fluke injury. I don’t think that is very likely. He works harder than anyone and is in awesome shape, and he knows how he… Read more »
Kyrie just said that this game was a “must win” for them coming in after what happened last time…
Seemed like this was important to the Cavs….easily could have lost this one…had a playoff atmosphere.
Kyrie’s got an Uncle Drew style beard growing these days…
Can’t believe RJ played 35 minutes… when’s the last time he did that in a regular season game?
Whoop whoop thats the sound of the ……

Thank goodness the Bucks don’t really make a lot of threes…
Yeah when they get Middleton back heads up!
I think it’ll probably take him until next year to get his shot back after that injury tho…
Tiger is thinking about Mike Dunleavy in this picture…
A meme about an unplayable lie would be appropriate too. Except Dun-leavy would incur more than a stroke penalty
Beat me to it…..now I see below
Maybe JR can wear a shirt that says “Mike Dunleavy… He’s Not That Bad. Have a Beer!”
That shirt would have been better as a giveaway at the Grizz game than the Mike D Fathead, that’s for sure.
Hope JR doesn’t become al “old” 31 year old during this year. Proves what a super man 23 reaaly is.
They call this shot in golf “The Dunleavy”

THAT SHIRT MIGHT BECOME AS POPULAR AS THE ” SAGAR STRONG ” SHIRTS AT LEAST IN THE CLEVELAND AREA
TY ZELLER NOT GETTING HARDLY ANY RUN WITH THE CELTS—COULD HE BE A POSSIBLE POST PLAYER WE PURSUE —ALTHOUGH THE CELTS WOULD WANT WAY TOO MUCH OR WOULDN’T ENTERTAIN TRADING WITH THE CAVS AT ALL
And there’s no takebacks in the NBA…
Would love to get Zeller. He turned himself into a pretty good roller and midrange catch and shoot player. Wonder why he doesn’t play more for them. But yeah, probably unrealistic target for what we would be willing to give up.
ENJOY THE FORK PICTURE EVIL—GLAD YOU COULD JOIN US
Thanks NOMAD! Good to catch at least a little bit of it…
Just ordered one as a Christmas gift for Done-leavy…

AGREE WITH YOU JOHNB —BUT I THINK AFTER THEY GOT EMBARRASED BY THE BUCKS RECENTLY –TY WANTED TO MAKE SURE HE SENT A MESSAGE TO THEM —JUST MY OPINION
I get that from Ty’s perspective. Just maybe not 47 minutes get. I mean there is or rather was always tomorrow.
Can’t believe Bron didn’t get a triple double with all that time out there… too many missed shots by teammates on the other end of his assists I guess…
WOW THAT IS WHAT YOU PAY TO SEE —A GREAT PLAYER MAKING A GREAT / CLUTCH SHOT —AND AS GREAT OF A SEASON THAT WESTBROOK IS HAVING —HE HASN’T MADE A CLUTCH/ GAME WINNING SHOT
No games during the regular season are worth playing James 47 minutes. That is my humble opinion. I cannot figure out why Lue plays or allows him to play more than 40 regularly. The regular season should mean almost nothing to this team, meaning winning against the bucks should not be a priority. So no reason to play or allow James to play big minutes in any of these games. As long as they focus after the all star break, that is all that matters. This team can get the 8th seed and be fine in the east.
He’s talking about it now in his post game comments….
Unfortunately my stream is cut out now. Hopefully, I will be able to find a copy of the interview tomorrow.
Sounds like it was a statement game to not give Bucks the idea they can beat the Cavs…
I agree. They beat us pretty bad last time we were there.
Hmm, that may have backfired a bit since they came back from 18 down to take us to overtime…
Although without arguably the third and fourth best Cavs…
True enough.
Very tough, gritty game for undermanned Cavs. Pulled it out. But running out of bodies!
“I only need five!” – Ty Lue (probably)
In espaniol?

That had to be one of the longest theees James has ever made late in a game. Of course, the Orlando playoff was a bigger shot and not as long
I REALLY LOVE DELLY / AMD PROBBALY GOING TO TAKE SOME HEAT / BUT HAVE TO AGREE WITH COLS —DELLY WAS TOO MUCH TO PAY FOR —-LOOKED AT THE BOXSCORE— LIGS STATS WERE ALMOST THE SAME AS DELLY’S TONIGHT —IN LESS MINUTES AND FOR LESS MONEY—I KNOW IT IS ONLY A SMALL SAMPLE –BUT JUST SAYING —–AM REALLY BUMMED THAT DUNLEAVY MIGHT BE DONE —-HAD HIGH HOPES FOR HIM BEING A VIABLE PLAYER FOR US
Mike Dunleavy is barely a warm body out there
What I say almost everytime Dunleavy is on the floor now…
WOW JUST GOT HOME FROM XMAS PARTY ( TRIED TO SNEAK SOME OF THE GAME AT THE PARTY –TO NO AVAIL )—WHAT HAPPENED TO J.R.—LEBRON WITH 47 MINUTES–DOES HE SIT TOMORROW ( DOUBTFUL–NOT A HOME GAME )—I KNOW COLS WILL DISAGRE BUT THESE BUCKS COULD BE A LITLE SCARY COME PLAYOFF TIME —-WE WILL GET A PSST—I HAVE MENTIONED BEFORE AND EVIL ALSO MENTIONED TODAY—BRING MORELAND UP ( AND ALSO THE MIGHTY QUINN ) FROM CANTON–GIVE THEM A RUN AND SEE WHAT THEY BRING ( OR DON’T BRING ) MEANWHILE KEEP YOUR ” ANTENNA’S “UP FOR POSSIBLE POST —DOESN’T LOOK… Read more »
Ligs made a rainbow 3 from the right corner in the 2nd half. And then he wound up with 2 more shortly thereafter and missed badly. He didn’t really stand out
I think unless it’s the 1-8 matchup… Cavs won’t see the Bucks in the playoffs…
It will be the 1-4.
Nah…
what is your guess for how the EC top 8 turns out? I think the Bucks have a good shot at 4, and a prayer at 3.
Milwaukee’s got some talent that’s for sure.
Kinda bummed I missed the first four quarters of this one… seems like it was fun as hell
LeBron lol

I’d probably put some money on LBJ sitting out tomorrow…
If Love and JR are healing and LeBron is resting, Lue should sit Kyrie too.
Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo…
http://movieguy247.com/iMovies/images/Movies/musical/electric_boogaloo.jpg
Haven’t seen breakin, but the documentary Electric Boogaloo about Cannon films is hilarious.
Let’s hope the KLove can play tomorrow. Are the Cavs looking to add another big with Birdman’s injury?
Don’t rush KL. And Birdman is a guaranteed. Not sure what they can do there.
Maybe they can have him kidnap Mo and flee the country… isn’t there some type of extradition exception?
Whew! Hope Kev’s knee and JRs thumb heal quick. Stagnation O is concerning. Grit & guts shown very encouraging.
The Bucks are a long team and play the passing lanes well… tough to move the ball as much on them…
I agree with EG.
39-40 ! That’s unbelievable from Kyrie
Keep studyin son…
Ice cold. Ice cold.

It was that hundredth of a centimeter that always got me.
Thanks for joining EG. Always better with the pics!
Ha! I thought I was totally going to miss it, but got home just in time for the overtime…
Kawahi Parker
GAME!!!!!!
Ball don’t lie.
Fred with a fantastic call there: “Parker with a couple of bagels at the line and the Cavs are up two!”
Ball don’t lie lol
You gotta make your free throws son…
Jeez. That was an awful call but ball don’t. Lie.
