It’s that time of year again… time to dream about the road ahead for another NBA season. Before tonight’s tip off, every team has a chance to capture a championship (oh, who are we kidding… it’s the Dubs and maybe the Cavs as those two squads are probably destined to meet up for Episode IV). Well, anyway, it’s nice to dream…
Speaking of dreamers, the very much woke Kyrie Irving won’t be wasting any time fantasizing about his return to the place he called home for the first six years of his career. He’ll have a wonderfully lucid visual reminder of his top highlights with a video tribute before the game… though the auditory experience might not be quite as welcoming from his former fanbase. Only time will tell if Uncle Drew’s dreams will come true, or if his first game back in Cleveland will devolve into a nightmare.
Nate and EG fought off sleep and weariness to try and interpret the dreams the Cavs have for the season ahead, and to weigh in on which team lines in Vegas have people dreaming way too hard. They also delve into their own dreams for winners of the individual season award winners from MVP candidates to Coach of the Year and everything in between (EG tries to throw some shade to give Nate a reality check on the Utah Jazz to no avail).

I think the Cavs start the season off pretty slow collecting some loses they shouldn’t, as there are a lot of new pieces.
Could happen. But I think Rose/Wade/Crowder will all try hard to not let that happen.
Listening to the last Road Trippin’ with RJ just shows exactly how great a teammate he was. Makes me wish even more we had just cut Calderon. He’s doing nothing but complimenting the organization and his teammates. Great attitude, great support. Such a stark contrast between him and KI.
Thing is we are a bit short at PG right now and we have a ton of wings.

There has been plenty of great country music since 1990. Most of it has not been popular. Exactly the same with plenty of great rock music since 1990. It is out there, but it is not on pop radio any more. I love new music. Have you not seen my music recommendations? I’m constantly going to concerts and such. I’m just slagging two things. Post 1990 country music and Bon Iver. But yeah, there is much much more great music out there than probably at any time period ever.
If you are in Cleveland – Toledo area, check out old time honky tonkers “Rodney and the Regulars”. You can get a feel for what it was like in clubs where Hank or Merle played. The audience has a distinct “Tractor Supply” look, and there are seriously big pickup trucks outside.
Last time I saw them, one of the guys in the crowd had a shirt that said “F*ck Pop Country!”, which pretty much agrees with your point.
Jayhawks, Uncle Tupelo, whiskeytown, Bottlerockets, Drive by truckers are great. There are a ton of great alt country groups that were or are around post 1990.
I do not consider those bands country by todays standards.
Good stuff. Bottlerockets one of the most painful live bands I’ve ever seen. Painfully loud.
There’s a lot of really good old country. Hank Williams, Bill Monroe are some greats… even some Kenny Rodgers and Dolly Parton is decent.

I’m expecting a rollercoaster ride for the season. Some games, everyone will look phenomenal, some it will be a clusterF.
Hopefully tonight’s game will be a great one.
Derrick Rose for the most improved player of the year. He escaped the triangle and was let loose in the land.
Rose will get paid next season if he stays healthy.
Let Kyrie find his happiness wherever it may be. He did plenty good for us next to LeBron.
Unfortunately, from afar, Kyrie seems like the type of player who would never be happy.
What about fake grownups like Kyrie?
Actually, real grown ups accept responsibility for their actions and tell the truth. They pinpoint the reasons for their decisions, explain them honestly, and then let the chips fall where they may. Real grown ups also play defense.
That is either bs or very foolish.
EG has to post the “this guy” mug shot of Brad Stevens several times during tonight’s blowout Cavs’ win. I agree that Stevens may have a hard time relating to Kyrie as he did Rondo, but apparently everyone has a hard time relating to Kyrie because of his aloofness.
That Celtics starting lineup looks terrible. They have one really good player in Kyrie and a bunch of filler, including two below replacement level starters in Brown and Tatum.
Gordon Hayward ain’t filler. And you have no idea how good Tatum and Brown will be till the lights go up.
We do though. Brown sucked last year. Tatum is a rookie. They suck.
As rookie years go, Brown’s wasn’t bad. Anyway, enough with the sucks comments. It’s dumb.
OK. But here are role players on the Cavs who are better than Brown and Tatum. Rose, Wade, JR, Crowder, Thomas, TT, Green, Korver, Shumpert. Maybe Frye in certain situations.
Or we could watch the game and find out
We are not going to learn anything from one game.

I think you guys are a bit too hard on Detroit. Not saying they won’t be good but rumor has it that Drummond has fixed his FTs. If he can stay on the court and plays to his potential they will have a pretty close replica to the old Magic team from 2008, also a SVG original. Not saying they will be necessarily good, but I think they are sneaking in to the awful EC playoffs.

I have no idea which Free Throw elf cast a spell on the big man but he did shoot 16-20 over preseason. Good for 80%. We’ll see.
Yeah I think the Pistons make the playoffs this year, especially with Indiana and Chicago tanking.

Finally, here comes the season. Good luck Cavs fans. Two games to start off the season, 3 of the teams playing today have new look. I am guessing Lebron will want to continue his record of never missing season opener.
