Live Thread: Cavs vs Bucks

The first of many meetings between the Cavs and the Bucks goes down tonight. The heir apparent to King James’s throne will challenge the man himself in what should be a closely contested match. LeBron seems to defy the aging process and Giannis is living up to his nickname of “The Greek Freak,” doing all sorts of spectacular things on the court.
The rest of the Cavs and Bucks will look to provide support as the two duel to the death. Okay, maybe not to the death, but neither one will likely back down from this challenge. Both teams have a healthy roster, aside from the perpetually hurt Jabari Parker.
Look for Milwaukee to come out swinging as they defend home court for their home debut. They usually play some pretty disruptive defense, trying to get steals and get out in open court. It won’t be an easy match-up for a team that has a habit of treating the regular season like the preseason. I’m hoping we can see a little bit more of that myth of an offense designed to run through Kevin Love.
Hopefully the Cavs can continue their Eastern Conference dominance and put one of their challengers in their rightful place, squarely behind them. This should be an exciting game and a good measuring stick on how the guys are coming together. As always, go Cavs!
Well, with Rose & IT out, everyone healthy will be active. Unless we activate Holland or Perrantes. The 45 day limit only counts during G league season & they haven’t started yet.

Ball with a pretty good game tonight and Ingram with a fantastic performance so far. The kids will probably be alright for LA. Granted it is against the suns.

Kyrie’s just pissed he is just scoring 20 points on 20 shots at about 37 % shooting percentage. The point guard is tearing the league with 4 and 3 assists in the last two games.
The Pels just don’t have enough help for them. If they has some legit shooting to surround them with, it could work. But they really don’t. Holliday is a fine player. I know their SF got hurt. Rodno can’t shoot (and is out at the moment). Now, if they want to give us Boogie for Frye & Shump…..I’d do that. Seems unlikely.
Korver would have been a great fit for them. I half expected him to sign there in the offseason.

I’ve watched the Pels closely…I don’t see how a Shump/ Boogie P&R could be stopped…they should trade Davis to the Cavs and pick up Shump. Davis and Boogie can’t share the court.
I agree. Makes complete sense. They should trade us Davis instead of boogie. Shump would rejuvenate his career and no doubt have much better chemistry with cousins. No doubt they would make the playoffs if they made that move. Listening pels? Everybody wins. I mean commmmonnnnnn Del Demps, do the right thing.

Interesting that Lue is choosing to start Calderon. I thought maybe move JR into the starting lineup & go with Wade as the nominal PG: Wade, JR, Crowder, Bron, Love. Go with Calderon, Shump, Korver, Green, TT as the main backups. That would have been my inclination. Still, it is early, and Lue will likely try a lot of different combos.
And we should be able to handle Orlando regardless (and Chicago & Brooklyn next).

You guys really want Cousins ?? Pelicans ahead would have meant he would play in control. 3 fouls, 1 tech, 4 TOs and many possessions where his team had to play 4 on 5 on offense and defense because he was complaining one end about call or staying on floor.

No. I think he’d be a disaster. Only Cols wants him. I’d take Davis, though.
Davis would be great with Lebron but I am not convinced he can ever win as best player on his team. All the talent but still figuring out how to win.

Yeah with rules favoring small guards on the perimeter, probably not. The nba changed the game on purpose which has killed the big man. The most important position in basketball for most of the history has now become the least important. Touch fouls on guards with the no the hand check allows more shooting space, which has given rise to an overwhelming amount of threes and the less rough interior play allows quick or crafty small guards to finish at previously impossible percentages near the rim. yep, agree.
yeah – and bigs that create any contact to clear are called for offensive fouls. If a guard drives into a defender on the perimeter the call usually goes to the offensive player.
And the smaller and less physically imposing the guard, the more times they get the call, though Iverson got plenty of those back in the day.

Best ball movement from the Cavs since… maybe the 90’s. Lue might have found some rotations and man, the 3rd quarter bench with Green, Thompson and Korver absolutely crushed it. Even Shump seemed to play within himself tonight. Cavs bench is going to kill it all year if they can be disciplined and play to their strengths

Yeah Korver needs to become a staple of the offense with Kyrie gone and Frye basically a garbage time player. Cavs don’t need to be setting records for 3 point shots but they have to be taking/making more
They made 11 tonight which is pretty good, especially if they dominate in the paint.
there should be no time on the floor where either Kev, Kyle and arent in it. Spacing is so crucial.

Anyone else notice how every year LeBron gets better at finishing in traffic? I used to worry that if he lost explosiveness that insanely high FG% in the paint would plummet. But now he can take bumps and has a plethora of moves and counters and can finish with either hand or just right over the top of someone while they are bodying him
His footwork has gotten better. He is transitioning into old man’s game beautifully.
He has adopted the euro step wholeheartedly along with some nice drop steps. He has always been one of the best ambidextrous finishers since he came into the league.

My eyes might be deceiving me but James looks like he decided to add muscle again. Maybe it’s the new uniforms but he looks bulkier in the shoulders to me.

GREEK FREAK VS ZINGER–WHO DO YOU WANT / TAKE—I DON’T EVEN THINK IT IS CLOSE —-THE KID IS ONLY 22 —WOW !!
Greek Freak will be a top five in the next year or so if not top three. Defensively he does so much, though he got gassed this game. I mean his line tonight was absurd. 15/22 for 34 pts with 8 bounds, 8 assists, 3 steals and a block. He is probably going to average 25+ pts around 8-9 boards and 6-7 assists this year. I expect he will shoot around 55% from the field.
ugh that’s tough. I value shooting, so if I have another established star like lets say John Wall, id take KP.
But build it ground up, Giannis.
I worry about Giannis’s shooting.
But then again LeBron was…
If you can score twos at will in the paint shooting around 55% percent while finishing over and through people, shooting becomes less of a concern in my opinion.
East All Star will likely have a frontline of Bron, Giannis and Zinger. That’s a little of length.
