Live Thread: Cavs vs. Bulls (#EnoughRope)

I’ve had a bit of a conspiracy theory about Ty Lue this season… and it involves a whole lot of rope. As the guy being tasked with balancing a roster full of interesting and disparate egos and personalities (which also now includes a former League MVP, as well as a three time champion/LeBron’s BFF), his work would seemingly be cut out for him. After all, he’ll most certainly get the lion’s share of the blame if he can’t find a way to overcome the aftermath of the summer of upheaval and tie (Ty?) this patchwork herd of current and waning stars together for yet another title run. But, he’s got to find relatively diplomatic ways of going about it that doesn’t ruffle too many feathers… ways that might initially make us scratch our collective heads and say “well, that doesn’t work at all dude.”

So, follow my thinking as I imagine Coach Lue kicking back with a fairly giant spindle of rope, giving out slack to say Iman Shumpert as he hijacks the offense and tries to flash back to his Georgia Tech days of poorly imitating a point guard… or JR Smith as he grouses about losing his starting spot… or most recently DWade as he goes from insisting he should start… to realizing his talents would best help the team off the bench. My point is, we might not collectively agree that Ty Lue always know how to steer his team… but I believe he’s willing to give his players plenty of rope to try to see what works…

Sometimes, it’s not going to be pretty (e.g. Saturday’s goring by the Magic), but have at least some faith that there’s a method to Ty’s wrangling… especially in these early stages.

Tonight, the Cavs try and lasso some Bulls, using a wholly different starting five. Ty is going to try LeBron at the one, with JR at the two, Jae Crowder at the three, Kevin Love at the four and reinsert Tristan Thompson at the five (not that positions seem to matter all that much with this team anymore). No matter how it works out… it should be interesting to watch…

I, for one, can’t wait for the Killer Shrimp tribute video at the end of the first quarter…

YEE-HAW!
