Live Thread: Cavs @ Pelicans (#ReadyToStart)
2017-10-28At this rate, everyone on the 15 man roster will get their shot in the starting lineup for the Cavs (maybe even the two way G-Leaguers too). Tonight Ty Lue will trot out yet another different starting five for what seems like a new one every game. Derrick Rose, who was almost ready to rejoin the team, is out again with his ankle sprain, and in his place, Iman Shumpert will be making his first start of the season. This is primarily because Coach Lue had already decided, in the wake of swapping DWade and JR Smith, that he was also going to give Tristan Thompson his starting job back and move Jae Crowder to the bench. So, there will be a moderately healthy Wade and now Crowder to help lead the second unit. Meanwhile, the spacing of the starting unit just takes another step sideways.
LeBron James will make his third straight start at Point Guard Forward Person, and Kevin Love retains his spot, though sliding over to Power Forward to make way for TT. Perhaps Lue decided he wanted to go big given that Anthony Davis will be active and ready to start on the New Orleans side of things, and he and Boogie Cousins make for a formidable twin towers up front. Yet, the rest of the Pelicans lineup is pretty guard-heavy, so who really knows.
The big question is whether or not the Cavs are finally ready to start defending the three point line… because a repeat of the 17 makes they’ve allowed to their last three opponents would put them at a disadvantage to snag a victory at the Smoothie King Center. The Cavs also have to hope that JR Smith is ready to start making some triples of his own… since he’s just 3-25 so far (12%) on the young season.
Catch all the action starting at 7pm EST on Fox Sports Ohio… and as always, chime in here…
Kyrie 22 points on 23 shots and 3 assists
That’s pretty efficient!
Hmmmm, Boston won. Despite him or he contributed matters less.
Stevens has really changed him.
Kyrie hasn’t hit his stride yet, but he scored 9 points late in the 4th quarter to put the game away against the Heat . He goes through stretches where he plays off the ball a lot – but they still look to get it to him. Jayson Tatum looks like he’s been in the league five years and is a Rookie of the Year candidate (A couple of 20-10 games). The Celts have a lot of new players and still have to put it together – but they have all the elements to go deep into the playoffs. They’re… Read more »
The only game the Cavs have looked good was the Bucks game. Otherwise, they’ve looked pretty underwhelming.
Cavs with no effort tonight. Just standing watching so many 50/50 balls. The lack of effort was embarrassing.
The unacceptable part to me is that it wasn’t even a back to back. I am willing to write off effort on back to backs but not during normal games.
Too much fun to be had in NYC and New Orleans.
Wait’ll you see them against the Knicks…
Cavs need to get a new defensive coordinator/coach. They are embarrassing themselves game in.game out.
Are the cavs going to allow the highest opposition 3pt % of all time or at leas the most made threes? Must be three point variance as cols would say. /s Three point variance is bs when it comes to giving guys 10 feet of space to shoot 20 times a game. Seriously, if you don’t contest or barely contest and give any player in the NBA that can hit threes at a 25-30% clip oodles of time and space, you turn those guys into 40% three point shooters.
Cedi and Antenna brought more energy than anyone in the rotation tonight.

Nice drive!!!
Reminds me of a young Dunleavy
Garbage time ruined the Cavs’ bench dominance numbers…
Big Z 2.0 needs some work on his FTs…

Jedi Mind Trick!!
First NBA FG for Cedi and it was a doozy!
EG would you still take Lue over That Guy?
I’d take literally anyone over that guy…
Wow… Pels have four guys who have made at least 10 shots and have at least 24 points…
Exactly, that’s unbelievable and unacceptable if you ask me. It’s like the Cavs just don’t care. I wonder how IT and some of the new Cavs players feel about this lack of interest.
IT has reportedly been very vocal in timeouts and huddles according to Allie…
That’s a good sign.
Garbage time… and not in a good way…
It’s been since tip off.
No, there was that stretch in the third quarter where they turned it around and tried… then Love went out and that was that…
