Live Thread: Cavs @ Hornets

The Cavs are in Charlotte tonight to take on the Hornets. This is the fourth and final game of the their road trip. They’re 2-1 so far, which is better than it seems. They needed hot Kyle Korver fourth quarters in their wins against the Mavs and Knicks. It’s not going too far to say that they got lucky twice.
Charlotte gets Nicolas Batum back for the first time this year tonight. Batum is at the sweet spot between All-Star and Very Good Role Player. Fortunately for Charlotte, the French forward seems to know this and plays a pleasant brand of basketball where he keeps the rock moving and is at least near the right spot on the defensive end. He’s going to help.
The Cavs need to come out strong and shut down Charlotte right away. Kemba Walker is a very good guard and will be able to manage a lead at the end of the game for the Hornets. On top of that, Charlotte is averaging 13.8 turnovers a night, which is the tied for fewest in the NBA.
They aren’t going to give this game away. They also have Dwight Howard. He’s averaging a double-double and might be a bit of an issue for Cleveland without Tristan Thompson being available to stop him from rim running. Charlotte is also full of capable defenders, including Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, who in theory will be on LeBron James for parts of this game.
If the Cavs pull out a win tonight, this road trip will be a success. However, with the Hornets not being one of the better teams according to record right now, they’ve lost four in a row, Cleveland may very well sleep walk their way into another loss because of effort. I’m picking Charlotte 110-97.

Green 13/7/1 on 5 of 8 in 21 min. Personally, I wish we had three of him.
We won a game where:
1) No one shot real well from deep save LBJ
2) We turned a deficit into a lead while James sat.
3) Outside of James, the other 4 starters had 44 (Love 22, JR 10, Shump 7, Crowder 5). The. 4 bench guys had 40 (Green 13, Korver 11, Frye 9, Wade 7).
I am still having fun!
BTW, 18 of 20 at the line tonight. CH were 19 of 28.
Cavs defense was ok, but Hornets offense was so bad. They only had energy in second quarter.
So come December, Cavs trade Zizic, Shump and a 2021 first for Nerlens Noel and Devin Harris. Who says no?
Gotta admit, I love the idea of Shump in Dallas…

Eh. He can defend. He’s TT with better shot blocking and finishing ability.
Idk if Noel actually deserves that rep…. He’s currently getting benched, by the worst team in the league, for being too undisciplined on defense. Lol I trust Rick Carlisle.

Hornets only score 40 in second half…Cavs brought energy and finished strong…Hornets also bailed out on ridiculous foul calls too….i especially liked when Howard elbowed Love in face and foul was on Love…also runner-up is MKG just flopping when Lebron was driving past him….maybe second runner up is MKG just running into Lebron causing James to hurt ankle again, and of course no foul on that one….I hate to bitch about officiating, but Silver has to fix that and stop worrying about player rest….its a joke how bad 3 officials can be and just let guys flop around and get… Read more »

Despite his physical build, Crowder goes yapping at Howard after the Howard shoves him after the play. I doubt the same would happen if that was shaq. Difference between two guys who are massive physical specimens. Howard is soft.
Still, smiling. Real good 2nd half.
