Live Thread: Cavs @ Blazers
2018-03-15The Cavs are one day off a win against league bottom Phoenix . However, they may not be able to build any momentum from that win in Portland.
Larry Nance Jr. is out for the evening with a hamstring issue he suffered in the first half against the Suns. That means Ante Zizic will get the starting nod tonight. And, Jeff Green will be the backup according to Cleveland.com. Jeff Green will be getting the start instead of Ante Zicic. Kyle Korver will remain in the starting lineup too, while Rodney Hood eases his way back into playing from back soreness.
If you’re following the NBA, you know that Portland is surging. They’re on a ten game win streak. During the streak, Damian Lillard has been grabbing 32.5 points a night on 45.8% shooting. Canton’s own C.J. McCollum has been averaging 22.2 points a night. The two have combined for 9.7 assists a game.
They aren’t the real story though for this game. Jusif Nurkic is averaging 15.2 points and 10.6 boards a night. He’s a big fella at seven feet and 280 pounds. With the Cavs center rotation down to one true big, he will be a project to stop. If he plays as well as he has been this game will be a loss for Cleveland.
And, the Blazers want this win. They have the same number of wins as the Thunder and three less losses than them, which is why they hold the third spot in the West at 41-26.
Tonight may not be Cleveland’s night. The rotation is short, and thing just have haven’t been clicking for them lately. Blazers 121-98.

If u watch over jr plays the laziest d I’ve seen always running after behind his man , doesn’t have a clue how to go threw a screen , u can prob count 15 times that they scored with jr behind his man
just watched highlights on YouTube….doesnt tell whole story, but it appeared to me JR did very little, George Hill was getting abused on defense, think I saw Hood make 1-2 shots, there was no Nance for this game, CJ and Dame lit us up constantly on perimeter. Lebron looked like man possessed, that dunk early in game against Nurkic was insane…felt game was close and competitive for a half then team faltered. They beat Bulls on Saturday puts them at 3-3 on road trip which I expected from beginning. Team needs to get healthy bodies back, get prepped to win… Read more »
Two big misses by Clarkson late also key. That corner three from Holland and that left wing trey that was probably just slightly rushed. Still, depsite his penchant for shooting, thought he played a good game.
Feel like if Ante had started they’d be so much better off. Jeff Green refuses to roll on screen plays and always pops and it’s killing the Cavs’ O. He needs to play like a center, not a stretch four. Also George Hill has GOT to be more aggressive. Cavs just left themselves no margin for error.
+1
Honestly, the home commentators made it sound like the Blazers were dominant and the game was over in the 3rd. I think the signs for the Cavs are good, despite poor coaching / misuse of players & shots not falling.
Nice game by John Holland at least. Outplayed JR
Doesn’t take much to outplay JR these days. JR is just plain liability at both ends.
Ballgame. Man. That is frustrating. Sorry you didn’t get more run, Ante.
Why’d they get a tech?
Bron missed Hill on the wing.
Very little to take from this game other than the Cavs content to freelance their way through the season
Tough to win this one with no Nance, Love, and Hood banged up…
That Lebron bunny miss will do it…
Clarkson with a good look. Just missed.
Jordan with a big three. Cavs still in this.
Aminu killing them tonight…
Climbing the HILL!
LeBron at center. Lue is a genius.
Credit to the Cavs for keeping not coming
George Hill! Cuts it to six.
Great cut, Kyle!
So honestly tho, how much of this is Lue versus LeBron? Really seems like LeBron MO is that offense has to run through him and let him scan the court
