Live Thread: Cavs vs Suns
2018-03-23The Suns come into town with Devin Booker (questionable/hand), T.J. Warren (doubtful/knee), and Tyson Chandler (out/tanking), on the injury list. For the Cavs, Tristan Thompson, Larry Nance, and Rodney Hood will be available off the bench on a minutes restriction. Kyle Korver and Cedi Osman are still out.
Quick post here as I’m trying to get to Fatheads for the game. The Suns are in full on tank mode and the Cavs are trying to get healthy and into playoff gear. I expect a steady, workmanlike approach, with the starters able to sit out the fourth. Of course this is exactly the type of game the Cavs tend to make much harder than it should be, so we shall see. Prediction: 124-102, Cavs.
I believe the starting 5 would be LBJ, Nance Jr, KLove, GHill and I’m still not sure if Hood or KK should start at SG.
Korver is more dangerous as a starter. Gotta max his minutes with lebron.
Agreed, I think Korver is the most optimal to help the Cavs build a lead in the 1st.
Curry is way more important to the dubs than any of the other guys I think. Sucks he messed up his knee. I really was hoping for a 4th iteration of dubs vs cavs…but if he is out they do not reach the finals. I just don’t see it. They could lose Durant or Thompson and rally…but dray and curry are too important.
Curry is easily their most critical player.
Not that I’m rooting for or rejoicing in injuries but this gives the Cavs a shot at a ‘ship.
Curry most likely be back by 2nd round if not earlier, hoping. Cook is ready and with 3 all stars and vets might be able to win first 2 rounds without Curry.
Good luck with Utah or new Orleans or minnesota. Any of them could take you to 6 or 7 games if curry is out. Then okc or Portland round 2? Man I am glad cleveland isn’t in wyoming… the west is filthy this year
Utah would be toughest opponent for anyone, they make you work hard in every game even if warriors should win in six .
For the Dubs to beat the Cavs, KD is more important. That’s not to say Curry is not important, he’s incredibly important and they can’t get to the finals without him at 100%. But for them to beat the Cavs, KD is even more important because of his defensive impact and ability to get tough buckets in tight situations.
You might be right, and I think you are for most other teams, but I think curry is much more of a problem for a defense like ours than Durant. We have multiple guys to throw at durant. We have zero guards capable of causing problems for Curry.

Assuming the Celtics lose in Portland tonight, we are 5 back with 10 to play & Kyrie just had minor knee surgery. Catch them?

It definitely isn’t out of the realm of possibility. Their schedule isn’t particularly difficult going forward, but who knows. To be honest I’d rather play Washington than Miami 1st round, but I really feel like it won’t matter. We will lose at most 5 games prior to the finals. There just isn’t any team that has an answer to playoff lebron.

That was excruciating.
The only reason that I could think of why the Cavs are giving TT this many minutes over Zz must be his contract. Other than that Zz should get TT’s minutes undoubtedly.
And what’s worst is that Zz was really getting his rhythm and confidence playing with the second unit in these last few games but unfortunately TT got healthy (and I don’t say that in a bad way).
Would Dan rather have TT play or his best possible chance at another title?
Exactly, and ZZ was really developing a nice rhythm with the guys and the coaching shouldn’t ruin that.
It has to be past performance, but he’s been just bad all season, and he was off last year, too…at a certain point you don’t need a weather vane to see which way the wind blows…

I understand giving some minutes to TT to get him back in the flow. But it should had been better divided between TT and Zz.
Although in all honesty I’m perfectly fine with trading TT for a bag of Cracker Jacks.
