Live Thread: Pelicans @ Cavs
2018-03-30After a 2-1 road trip that saw the Cavaliers’ injury problems continue, the Wine & Gold return home to Quicken Loans Arena tonight to take on the New Orleans Pelicans in a matchup that features two of the biggest stars in the NBA. While James Harden will almost definitely win the NBA MVP Award this season, the Pelican’s Anthony Davis and the Cavaliers’ own LeBron James are like to finish second and third in some order on most of the voter’s ballots.
Both James and Davis have dealt with multiple injuries to their teams while keeping their teams in the playoff pictures with their respective spectacular play. The Cavaliers have dealt with multiple injuries to Kevin Love and have yet to have their entire roster healthy for a game this season. Kyle Korver is out tonight due to a lingering foot issue, while Kevin Love and JR Smith are both listed as questionable. Meanwhile, the Pelicans were dealt a crushing blow when All-Star DeMarcus Cousins was lost for the season with a torn Achilles. Jrue Holiday has been excellent this year for the Pelicans, but if Rajon Rondo (currently listed as questionable with a wrist issue) misses tonight’s game, then Holiday and Davis will be relied on as the Pelican’s sole offensive creators.
Be sure to tune in to tonight’s game at 8:00 on both ESPN and Fox Sports Ohio, and be sure to stop by and share your thoughts here at Cavs: The Blog!
This was kind of a fun win…love Clarkson and Hill being the 2nd fiddles. However…we absolutely must have a healthy Love and a healthy Korver to destroy the East like we have the last couple years. And to compete with the warriors or rockets, we must have a healthy Cedi and we must play Zizic. They are both so talented and important…we can do this Lue/Drew. Give those big white guys some real playing time. They are so crazy crazy talented.
Wow… 2nd unit for Portland really playing some great basketball.
jose ” put that fork away “–consummate pro—good pick up by Kolby——Illysova—21 pts–16 reb’s——sixers are going to be a beast come playoff time
This is surprising.

Doesn’t seem to take many…
suns blow 20 pt lead lose to rockets –no surprise
Wolves win in Dallas by one. Mavs are kings of the close loss/in game tank.
Nuggets get huge win in OKC in OT. Loss column out west:
29 = Portland
32 = Spurs
33 = OKC, Minny, NO, Jazz
———–playoff line ——–
34 = LAC
35 = Denver
Clips at Blazers & Jazz hosting Grizz in progress. Gonna be a wild finish out west.
what are the latest vegas odds of —“FREE ANTE “—SUNDAY —against the mavs —-LDREW — I dare you– to give him some minutes
wow conneticut ladies down by 13 at one time —up by 7 now
again —keep ty at home “viewing film devising game plans / defensive schemes “—keep drew the main man on the bench ——where will korver fit in when he returns
but in the same breath won’t commit to playing jose guaranteed minutes every game ?
He’s still not the coach…
I much prefer Drew’s pressers to Lue’s…
https://twitter.com/twithersAP/status/979910812612644864
suns can afford to win and really not worry too much of jeopardizing their position
i thought nance looked great. he shut down davis plus hes so much better in pnr than tt. tt had a really nice game but nance was every bit as good
yeah raptors game will either both teams trying to ‘set a tone …pee in the dirt …sending a message “—or ” not going to show the other team anything —rest players “
ty (at home ) doing what he does best—–watching film—devising defensive game plans / schemes ——hey cavs —” don’t fix it if it ain’t broken”—just saying
I’d like to know Cedi’s status…I have to believe they were sitting him for the hip tonight…
I think he’s single…
Good to know…
Well, you did ask about his status…
Suns have up 20+ point lead near end of the 3rd and lose to rockets by 1.
Of course.
The art of tanking….
last 6 games
v. Mavs
v. Raptors
v. Wizards
@ 76ers
@ Knicks
v. Knicks
Definitely see 4/6 here unless we bow out against the Knicks both times….not sure if 76ers game will be big one for us since its so close to playoffs….Raptors game will be interesting again…Mavs is an afternoon game on a Sunday, imagine that will be sluggish affair
It’ll be important for seeding…
EVIL is cpt’ bandaid’s agent —–JUST JOINING IN —–WHAT IS STATUS OF LOVE / HILL—-see HOOD after fast start cooled off / or didn’t look for his shot —?—-bulls win also
Cavs are weird team, when they really try on both ends they look unbeatable even if games are close….just gotta think they will bring that in playoffs….two different teams tonite….Holiday is unreal…Mirotic is weird player who can light up anytime…Davis looked marginal….no one else really does anything for Pels….Love was okay but nothing great, good stuff from Hood and Clarkson…Nance still struggling a bit….Lebron until the end had one of those quiet dominant score lines…four more wins til 50…when 4/6 to end season team will be in good shape
so EG you were on the anti jordan clarkson train right? updated thoughts?
He’s team Jordan…
Nope… I’m team Capt. Band Aid all the way
oops right my bad!
I like that Clarkson stuck it to Ben tonight… ;)
Yep. Good thing I didn’t get around to agreeing with him.
Ben needs to do a rewrite From Distance
Clarkson has had some bad games, but overall he has been one of the most productive new additions.
Seems like they made the run to take the lead when Calderon got into the game…
Calderon, like Korver, is a good accompaniment for Lebron…
Yep, and then…

Bron’s iso/heat checks let them back in.
But yes, things go smoother with Jose in there a lot of the time. He has issues defensively that our switch everything scheme makes it easy to exploit.
But he is smart, hustles, has a huge BBIQ, an is an excellent shooter/floor spacer. Outside of Korver, he is the best pure shooter we have.
Lol forgot the /s regarding lebron’s killer instinct. He closes teams out like a boss all the time
All good ;)
Probably TT’s best game in months…
Fred said on the FSO feed that TT spent the last month on a low carb diet that this week has him in the best shape of his life. #revengebodyTT
I hope that’s true…he did look more bouncy tonight than most of the season…
LeBron one rebound shy of a triple double. Probably would have had it if TT hadn’t started to look like his old bouncy self tonight.
Still a gritty win. TT, Clarkson, Hood, & Jose came up big. And Bron.
Hope Hill is OK. Love struggled.
Bulls won. Up to 25 wins.
Good win… keeps them ahead of Philly…
LeBron great handling the ball too with just one turnover
Cavs did a nice job on AD tonight… he was also less aggressive than I’ve seen him lately…
He has like 5 nagging injuries I guess. Ankle, calf, etc.
He really looked like a guy battling injuries. (I am not being snarky)
He’s a walking injury most seasons…
True, I’d still trade TT (mr. durable) and JR for him…
So do the Cavs…
really wierd last 1:30 but looks like we got there
We’ll see if Love’s possible hammy is nothing, or something…he hasn’t been in for a while…
That’ll do pig
Whew! Shouldn’t have been that close…
LeIso giveth. LeIso taketh away.
We need that therapy dog right now!
Cmon jr…
Bron’s shots gave them the cushion… his bad misses has almost erased it…
Heat check number 2
Even by current NBA standards that was a travel by Hill — about four steps
Big miss from Lebron..
Heat check off the side of the back board…
Heat check
Dammit TT… that would have been the triple double for Bron…
Does Hill thinks he’s a knockdown three point shooter?
Super impressive close frim Bron.
Le-Iso has it going.
tt’s been good but lets get fresh bodies out there – nance is just as good
Man…lebron really lacks that killer instinct
Dude… he’s been to 7 straight Finals…
whoosh
King Me!

Need those kids saying LeBron James again EG !,
Seems like one of those nutty Lebron games where he hits everything down the stretch…
LeBron iso with all 10 players on the floor frozen in place, good for two jumpers in a row
Make it three in a row!
LBJ feeling it now…
TT cannot guard Holiday…
To be fair no one else can either
Amen.
and lets get nance in too
pls get jr smoith out
If they called that foul on Lebron I was going to blow my stack live on the internet…
Just another smack in the face for LeBron with no call
Bron can’t buy a call
That tip to tt should be an assist for lbj
Holliday is a really good player…
Solid. Really solid. He is playing us so he automatically looks better on o as a perimeter player, but he is a solid starting PG.
Mirotic is absolutely the most punchable player in the NBA…beating out Bray is his great achievement…
Bobby Portis agrees. I don’t. Bray is still uno for me.
Good closeout by JC on Miller…
TT’s 6th O Board of the night!
Canadian Bacon!
Agree on TT. Looking good.

He doesn’t make mistakes, try to do too much, can still make js, passes, and can run an offense.
https://twitter.com/CavsFredMcLeod/status/979902160472330240
We should have another point. They only gave Clarkson 2 for an obvious as heck 3.
Done!
