Playoff Live Thread: Cavs vs Celtics 2018-05-19 Off By Tom Pestak The mustiest of must win games is upon us. Will we notice any changes? Does Ty Lue continue to run with the players that had the best pre-season fantasy rankings? We’ll find out shortly. I’m gonna channel my inner Nate: 132-86 Cavs. From Distance: An Introduction Playoff Recap: Cleveland 116, Boston 86 (or, “We Could be Royals…”)
Caught a bunch of the game on radio and watched a little bit of the second half when the game was already well out of hand. I am glad that it didn’t require a superhuman offensive effort by LeBron to get a W… allows him to conserve some energy for the defensive end and builds everyone’s confidence when they can get it going on offense. Game 4 is going to be tough – Stevens is too good of a coach to allow his team give that kind of poor effort again. Gotta play with the same intensity because it won’t… Read more »
didn’t see the game —-WELCOMED IN ANOTHER GRANDCHILD ——-FUTURE WNBA ALL STAR !!!——-sounds as if cavs were pretty much on their game —-celts still struggling on the road —-LET’S KEEP IT THAT WAY —–GAME # 4 IS NOW AS HUGE AS GAME # 3 —-2–2 SOUNDS SO MUCH BETTER / MORE DOABLE THAN 3–1——-SO IS HOOD PRETTY MUCH ON HIS WAY OUT __( AGAIN I MAY BE OUT OIF MY MIND —-STILL THINK HE HAS POTENTIAL—GIVE HIM A WHOLE YEAR HERE ——-BUT I REALIZE IF IT DOESN’T WORK OUT WE ARE STUCK WITH ANOTHER ‘SHUMP’ CONTRACT —-GO CAVS “INBELIEVELAND “!!!
We were 50% from 3 tonight, but were nit really spectacular in any other aspect. And even that was mostly 3 guys: Korver 4/4, Bron 3/3, JR 3/4. The D was better. Our starting backcourt finally showed up. TT put the whodo on Horford. Bron was effecient. Love was good not great. Hill hit early 3s and that was about it.
Nance had a nice line: 8/6/3 with 3 steals on 4/4 fgs.
No Hood in a blowout. Please play Cedi more.
So holding the Celtics to 86 points while winning by 30 points is not really spectacular in any aspect other than the 50% from 3? You were right…there are those who talk hoops , and there are those who know hoops.
+1. Yeah, and LeBron didn’t get a 50 point triple double so he was mediocre too, and will be dropped out of the all time Top Ten. I was at the game, Kim, and the Cavs’ defensive tenacity in all aspects was very impressive.
I’m with you Mike. And considering how horrible the Cavs have been on defense (29th in the league this season), the defensive effort was epic. Since you were at the game last night , you may not have seen a nice defensive stat flashed on TV- the Celtics were 2-10 when Bron was the primary defender. Brad Stevens also said said only Bron could pull of those amazing left-handed dish offs. Yet our friend here is saying that Bron was merely efficient and that nothing spectacular happened last night other than an efficient offense.
Thx for that stat ! You could sure tell James was 95% engaged, but 2/10 is just awesome. James shut down Brown for the most part
See lot of comments how Celtics play poorly road, but Cavs played so much better on both ends of floor which I haven’t seen since Raptors series, early on. Game 4 will be interesting since Celtics could make some adjustments and prove they win can game on road, Cavs have to bring same energy, and Hill has to set tone….every time he has started aggressive Cavs are undefeated
Yeah, I expect a different Celtics team game 4…if nothing else, I expect a LOT more intensity. Game 3 was a sleepwalk game for them.
Sucks I didn’t watch the game :(
From the comments, plus game recap, seems like the Cavs’energy on both sides of the court was a big factor, along with Boston’s road woes. Nice to see such a blowout.
From the few vid clips, seems loke Nance was given a good amount of time. Glad Lue learned from his few minutes on game 2. Also, benching Hood was the right move.
Let’s get another win and force Boston to step up.
Cavs in 3
So Boobie played 7 seasons with 1 team. No D league. No Europe or China. Just 7 seasons on 1 team. That’s pretty unusual right?
Once he got on his “music career” it’s no turning back.
he was always injury prone and was married at the time to keisha cole who was hip hop star, so he had money there via his ‘rap career’….plus 7 years in nba with average contract and investing can go long way
Wow. Cool! Just got home. Couldn’t watch the game. I guess Boston really does play different on the road, or did the cavs just finally figure things out or both?
Celtics are different on the road, and Cavs played harder and looked like they had an actual game plan other than ‘just roll the ball out there’.
Three simple adjustments made by Lue it appears….. Playing Nance, benching Hood, and not letting Clarkson operate at PG by having LBJ in there with the bench crew.
Agree. Clarkson should only be allowed to run the point on 2 occasions:
1. A couple of minutes in a blowout.
2. If he’s paired with another floor general or with Lebron.
Can we sign Boobie Gibson to a contract just to sit on courtside the rest of the playoffs?
Was that him in the red hat? I wondered about that
Yep. Never forget game 6.
Cavs keep consistent performance, Celtics are toast, felt like they couldn’t get an uncontested shot off and were breaking down on defense….Hill being aggressive early is the key…again thought Cavs didn’t play lights out and yet they creamed this team…shows Cavs potential when they turn everything on and get solid, if not good coaching
Wow… Cavs outscored them in every quarter… has that happened in any other playoff game this year?
The Cavs did it to Toronto in the final game of that series. The Pacers did it to the Cavs in the game 6 blowout.
