Live Thread: Cavs @ Sixers (#GuessWhatDayItIs)
2019-03-12That’s right Cavs fans… just three more Tuesday games left this season, and tonight’s tilt with the Sixers has probably been circled on Philly’s calendar ever since the Cavaliers stunned them on their last visit 121-112… way back before Thanksgiving.
The wine & gold are coming off one of their best games of the season last night against the Toronto Raptors, where they gave rude flashbacks to their neighbors up north even without a certain #23. The dinos are probably secretly ecstatic the Cavs didn’t somehow wind up sneaking into the playoffs this year to torment them further. All five Cavs starters scored in double digits, led by Collin Sexton’s 28 and Kevin Love’s double double (16/18)… (we’ll have more on this game along with tonight’s game in the recap later). Love won’t be available due to my favorite new NBA designated excuse label “load management” on the second night of a back-to-back, and neither will Marquese Chriss, who will serve a one game suspension for his role in a weird tussle with Serge Ibaka.
Meanwhile, Joel Embiid is back in a big way for the Sixers, scoring 33 points to go with 12 rebounds in a shellacking of the Indiana Pacers on Sunday in just 28 minutes. It was Embiid’s first game back since the All Star Break, but it didn’t look like he missed a beat. The win moved Philly into a tie for the third spot in the East as they gear up for the stretch run to the playoffs.
Prediction: No Love and no rest for the Cavs should temper expectations for the Cavs in this one, but the team should keep it close until the second half when the Sixers deep-six them… 131-111.
Catch all the action starting at 7pm EST on FSO, and as always… get your Tuesday basketball fix below…
Just checking in. Recaps up and Players Only is still awful.
Perriman wants out of his deal now in light of the OBJ trade — not surprising.
I assume that means he didn’t sign it yet.
Believe not. Was never officially announced. Too bad. Really would have added depth and obviously Browns could use another big WR now.
previous 10 game averages.. draw your own conclusions..
sexton.. 18.5 ppg.. 2.8 rpg.. 3.4 apg.. 34min
zizic.. 10.6 ppg.. 6.7 rpg.. 1.0 apg.. 25min
kytie.. 22.3 ppg.. 4.9 rpg.. 7.6 apg.. 35min
I am no Kyrie superfan, as long timers here could attest, but my conclusions are that he’s a top 15-20 player (maybe higher than that) , and those other guys will never be that.
just looking at the numbers.. but at the very least, could be much worse..
not concerned anymore with “star status”.. looking at production, and win-loss, during the 10 game period.. sexton/big ZZZ combo outperforming kyrie in 2 of 3 categories.. 29 ppg vs 22.3 ppg.. 9.5 rpg vs 4.9 rpg.. 4.4 apg vs 7.6 apg
kyrie is what he is.. at times extraordinary.. other times.. really good to great.. sexton and big ZZZ are rookies (the latter hardly playing last yr, and not really all that much this year, until recently).. they are improving, markedly, and should continue to do so for the foreseeable future.. but, numbers don’t lie.. they are what they are.. the sexton/big ZZZ combo are essentially putting up equivalent, or better, numbers than kyrie.. i like the trade.. no, actually, i love that trade.. never would have bet on this dynamic unfolding, but it is what it is.. never hurts to… Read more »
during the 10 game period.. bos 4-6.. cavs 5-5
should have loaded up on season tickets when they were looking like a 3-41 team.. woulda been a nice trade
Sexton has gotten better and better. For the 8th pick I think we did well. Looking forward to seeing what a summer in the weight room and continued work on his game brings us next year. Cedi is becoming what we all hoped for, Nance, K Love, Nwaba, ZZ… they’re having fun, playing hard. Our future looks bright.
Cavs future > lakers future. Who’d have thought
whats bron thinkn about this turnaround?
He’s coming home — when he can opt out in two years
one more run for a ‘chip in ’22..
The tanking Lakers may hand the Bulls a win tonight…
This was insane though…

Lebron like…
One of the hardest dunked balls I have seen in a decade or so.
At the very least, Sexton has shown he can score in the NBA with reasonable efficiency…needs to get much stronger and finish at a better rate if he wants to be more than that…
Good for the Lottery… also not bad for team confidence making the Sixers work that hard…
Gritty loss for the Cavs, no tt, Nance, love really hurt tonight on the boards.
For JohnB…

Yeesh. Feel like this is Dorsey’s red wedding. This is nuts. Just slaying FA and coming out of the bloodbath a super bowl contender.
No call. Shocking.Pump fake might’ve been good there. I really dislike Embiid.
Zizic got hammered there. Bummer
That should do it… very little help from the zebras tonight…
How the HELL was that NOT a foul??

One of the dunks of the year on that Embiid putback slam…
Holy cow that Embiid play…
Wow, Clarkson…all guts there over Embiid…
The lack of a blocking foul was ridiculous.

CAPT. BAND AID!
Clarkson kind of a dumpster fire when he isos and on defense.
Killer O board there for Philly…ugh…

Holy crap. Accidentally turned it for a second, and it’s tied!
Looks like Philly don’t want this fight…
Colin Sexton is Kyle Lowry right now
Wow!!
Cedi for the lead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sexton! Awesome drive!!
Clarkson finish cut it to 3!!! Sexton what a drive and finish!!!!!! 1 point game!!!!!
THE LEAD!!!
Down 1!
Ante Z has played Embiid as good as anyone I’ve seen tonight…
Down to 3!!
I love Nwaba…if the Cavs don’t keep him, they are completely incompetent…
