Well this seems like a mistake.

As I’ve noted, Garland doesn’t seem like he’s played enough minutes to start yet, and easing up his minutes count seems to make sense for a guy who is just coming off a minutes restriction. Still, you knew it was going to happen eventually. I hope this means he’s healthy, and I hope that lasts.

Love, TT, and Cedi round out the starters for Cleveland, while Orlando will roll out Nic Vucevic, Aaron Gordon, Jonathan Isaac, Evan Fournier (don’t google that), and D.J. Augustin. I suppose if you’re going to roll out a small back-court, Augustin is a good guy to try it against, but expect Fournier to get a lot of post-ups.

On paper, the Cavs have a fighting chance in this one, as a healthy Kevin Love is this game’s most talented player. But Orlando’s depth, especially at the wing, seems problematic. Terrence Ross, Al-Farouq Aminu, Wesley Iwindu, and Khem Birch bring size off the bench at the wing, while Markelle Fultz and Michael Carter Williams are bigger guards. Add a heaping helping of sweet shooting Mo Bamba who went 9-18 from three in the preseason, and this team will give the Cleveland some problems. Taking care of the ball, rebounding, and shooting will be key for Cleveland. Nance, Love, and TT need to play with some fire in the belly.

Prediction, Cavs lose a close one when Mo Bamba blocks a shot late. 119-117, Magic, but I’m hoping for a fun one.
