Live Thread: Cavs @ Pacers (#Developing)
2019-11-01Evening Cavs fans! Well, it’s rare these days for me to have a Friday night free, so color me excited to be able to actually watch a full 48 minutes of this young and developing team. I got some initial exposure to John Beilein’s darkroom process on Wednesday, as his competitive mix of vet post-players, neophyte guards and mostly converted “wings” came together to create a pretty picture against the Bulls.
Going to Bankers Life Fieldhouse is never an easy trip for any Cavalier squad, so this next one should be a decent next test for the wine and gold. The Pacers just finally got their first win of the season on the road against the Nets on Wednesday, and have already taken a short handed beating from the Cavs in the early going. They’ll still be without standout star Victor Oladipo, and are also down a big man with Myles Turner sitting out with an ankle sprain. Though, they will have swingman Jeremy Lamb baaaa-ck in the mix.
The Cavs will try to continue to ride the shoulders of their dynamic PF duo of Kevin Love and Tristan Thompson, while hoping for further development from their young backcourt. We may even get a Brandon Knight sighting with Matthew Dellavedova out. Regardless, it will be great to see the team’s progress in sharper focus as the competition increases.
One other Cavalier development that happened today featured @CavsDan doing something he’d never done before…
ESPN story on Cleveland GM Koby Altman agreeing to a long-term contract extension. https://t.co/r5nLVdJGrV
— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) November 1, 2019
That’s right… by extending Altman, Dan issued a statement of confidence not achieved by any GM since he took ownership of the team in 2005. And, whether you like the move or not, the one thing it does provide this re-developing organization is some modicum of consistency going forward.
In the immediate future, I see the Cavs struggling early, but eventually finding a way to come through in the end, 107-104.
Catch all the action starting at 7pm on FSO… and see what develops.
Lakers pulled out a win, but if they want to reach their potential they need Jason Kidd to lead them. Hope they realize that before it’s too late.
Spurs are smoking GS. GS is going to get the top pick aren’t they?
Why are we talking about Nunn when Tyler Herro is in this world???
Dumb Dallas end of game defense lost them the game.
Can’t argue that.
Doncic is good.
Maxi kleber with Jr Smith level situational awareness there at the end of regulation.
Terrible from Dallas. With a foul to give, you don’t allow that shot.
Is luka 42? Why did he crash to the middle? Who cares if Bron scores a layup there?
Kleber.
What a garbage look. Avery Bradley from 20…
FYI…. from espn earlier today.. Heat PG Kendrick Nunn has third-most points to start career in past 25 years… AND he is an UNDRAFTED 24 YR OLD ROOK !!!! NOw that is something i can get excited about.. great story..
Despite going undrafted in 2018, Nunn has outperformed the past 26 No. 1 picks in points — trailing only Shaquille O’Neal, Elvin Hayes, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and David Robinson through their first five career games in the common draft era (1966).
The Heat snatched up Nunn over the summer, signing him to a 3-year, $3.1 million deal.. and cavs are into “o-for” garland for what, 28-34 mill? over the next 4 or 5 yrs.. sorry.. wake me when his shot starts to fall..
We get it. FYI. Every other team in the league passed on Kendrick Nunn too.
GS could really use Nunn right about now. And he played for their G league team.
NBA beautifully balanced this year, and likely for the forseeable future.. very enjoyable to watch the many varied contests free of emotional baggage.. really great games presenting themselves almost every evening.. BRK v HOU.. LAL v DAL.. BOS v NYK.. gr8 stuff..
If the Lakers can’t get KCP a LOT more looks, they need to make Kidd coach…
They just need to make Kidd HC, period. He’s that good.
BAKER ALSO NEEDS TO LEARN HOW TO DEAL WITH FRUSTRATING SEASON IN MORE MATURE MANNER —-HOW HE ACTS / WHAT HE SAYS / DOES —JUST MAKES HIM A BIGGER TARGET / PUTS MOREPRESSURE ON HIMSELF ——-PROBABLY PLAYING SOMEWHAT OVER HIS HEAD LAST YEAR —-UNDERWHELMING THIS YEAR
HAVEN’T REALLY WATCHED A FULL GAME YET—-JUST THINK ALOT —” DRANK THE KOOL-AID HYPE ” FORGOT YOU STILL HAVE TO PERFORM ON THE FIELD—-ALSO BELIEVE DORSEY DIDN’T BOLSTER THE “O ” LINE ENOUGH —-AND BAKER MISSING HIGGINS AND THE TIGHT END ( CAN’T SPELL THE NAME ) ‘—-ALSO DON’T THINK KITCHENS WAS THE RIGHT PICK FOR HEAD COACH POSITION–SHOULD HAVE WENT WITH AN EXPERIENCED COACH ———–IF THEY DON’T BEAT DENVER THIS SUNDAY —“TIME TO THROW IN THE TOWELS” –FIRE SOME COACHES
Nomad, I have watched it all too closely, and you are right on… Williams was staring them in the face, and they flinched….he is a leader of men, yet they promoted the O coordinator who put players in the right position—not the same thing…they need to beat Denver, Buffalo, Pittsburgh and Miami before we regain forward momentum. I still think they can do it, but definitely missed opportunities…
i thought lettting greg? williams go was a really stupid decision.. no reason to rush kitchens in and give him the keys.. gotta take a driving test before you can drive.. not a perfect analogy, but u guys get the drift.. my brain is fried because of cleveland sports from my childhood and early adulthood.. the herb had nothing to do with it
NOMAD.. what’s ur read on the browns and baker.. have not watched a minute.. but have family members (cousins, etc) who are looking shell-shocked.. glad i have avoided that snake pit.. how bad is it? fixable in my lifetime?
BOTH : ) —————–HERE IS HOPING DONCIC / PORZINGUS / MAVS TAKE IT TO THE “LEBRON LAKERS “
pop a rock and have one on me hombre.. latr bro..gonna listen to some doobie brothers.. :)
LET’S GO HAVE A “COLD ONE ” BUCKAROO ——YOU BRINK THE TOKES
name the time and watering hole.. bring the boyz form CtB.. we can burn the house down.. NOMAD.. u drink the stuff, or hang an IV?
on the bright side.. sexton balling.. love building his value.. win-win there.. chucky clarkson putting it in the hole (not much love for JC on this site).. could be worse..
just checking in.. just saw score.. thought, “hmmm, not so bad, IND not a terrible team.. let’s look at the box score”…. WTF !!!!!!!!!!!!!! are you f%cking kidding me !!!!!!!! OH for 10 ???????? zero for 10 ??????? 0 for 10 ?????? sorry folks… perhaps time for a little concern.. feel bad for #5.. but i smell a bust.. hope i am wrong.. why i am not a fan anymore.. not worth the psychological anguish.. wow.. can’t say i am that surprised.. but hey, folks on espn are saying baker is out of the league in a year.. who knows..… Read more »
Meh. They’re 2 and 3 and have been competitive. What pain are you talking about?
He’s no Tyler Herro…
BELIEVE YOU ARE CORRECT MIKE ——HOPEFULLY BELEIN ACKNOWLEDGES THAT AND MAKES THE ADJUSTMENT
Doncic is good, just FYI…
IS GARLAND RUSHING HIS SHOT / NOT GETTING HIS FEET SET / CONFIDENCE FACTOR ……….BELIEVE THE KID WILL SNAP OUT OF IT ——–JUST CAN’T WAIT UNTIL ONE OF THOSE 3-4-5/ 3PT GAMES —WILL SEE HOW HE BOUNCES BACK NEXT GAME ———SHAME KID ISN’T OLD ENOUGH TO DRINK—I WOULD TAKE HIM OUT AND ” DOWN A FEW COLD ONES ” GOOD REMEDY FOR ANY BAD DAY —RIGHT BUCKAROO : )
He looks like he thinks his shot has no chance of going in…I still think he doesn’t have a feel for his role…
DID KNIGHT LOOK THAT BAD ‘ OR LOOK HURT—SEE HE ONLY GOT 6 MIN RUN TIME ?
He didn’t look good…
Not enough made shots…shooting 36% from the field makes it damn hard to win.
Well, 36.8%, but my point still stands.
Fun hanging out with y’all tonight!
G’night / G’morning!
Fun game, EG
Still a hard fought game… stuff for Cavs to build on… hard to overcome an 11 point quarter no matter who you are…
Cavs still in this…
Maybe not after that shot…
HOPE THIS WILL BE GARLANDS WORST GAME OF A LONG ILLUSTRIOUS CAREER —–HEY ALL IS NOT LOST –WE HAD EVIL FOR AN ENTIRE GAME / NIGHT —THANK YOU FOR JOINING IN —-STAY IN TOUCH AND GOOD LUCK !!
Yeah, stinker of a game for EG to have – we appreciate your efforts man.
Nah, I enjoy just being here… been a while
Almost a huge shot after the steal…
