Live Thread: Cavs at Celtics
2019-12-09Well, here we are. Another game against another tough opponent. This time its the Boston Celtics who are fresh off back to back wins against the Nuggets and the Heat. They’re also 9-0 at home. I’d like to think that perhaps the Celtics could be sleeping on a team like Cleveland after a pair of games they fought hard for but it sure seems like this current iteration of the Cavs are dead and buried. It’s pretty clear that not much is working for these Cavaliers and I doubt things clear up against an opponent of this caliber. I mentioned this in the comments earlier today but if there is something positive to take from this recent stretch its the following tweet.
Been looking at #Cavs numbers. None of this is to excuse their poor play. They need to be better. But they’ve had the third-toughest schedule thus far. They’ve played 16(!!) teams with a record of .500 or above. Obviously they will struggle against that caliber of opponent

None of that changes against the Celtics who are 16-5. So here’s to hoping they don’t look quite so awful. As always, Go Cavs.

I am super happy sexton’s double digit scoring streak is over. It was one of the most bullshit streaks in the NBA.
Well I’m out. Good effort by Delly, Nance, TT, Clarkson, Henson, and I think KPJ, and Cedi in that 3rd and early fourth. Units that can play d are a plus.
I count 5 blocks against Sexton tonight.

He is the league leader.
I was under the impression sexton was a hard worker, good addition to this team. I keep seeing him get decimated. Is he trash or just having a couple bad games?
He is not good on d. Too small and sleight to guard wings. Not great footwork to keep in front on guards. Not great awareness. I think he hustles a lot, but he isn’t going to stop anyone.
I haven’t watched many games at all this season so anyone can correct me if I’m off base here… I feel like he’s the type of player that needs a very defined role and he could buy in and work hard at that. Giving him carte blanche control of this offense isn’t doing him any favors because he can barely (and very inefficiently) create for himself and doesn’t create anything for others.
I don’t see what the harm is in bringing him off the bench for a few games for some accountability.
You have to pick up shooters in transition, especially if they’re hot and have the ball. That last kemba transition Trey will about do it.
