Podcast Episode 227: I Like Ike
2020-12-18Isaac Okoro has captured Cavs fans’ imaginations with his stellar play so far: the economy of his game, his defense, his ridiculously overbuilt NBA body, and most importantly, his ability to make winning plays look effortless. As such, the winning slogan of the 1952 presidential election is also the titular theme of this podcast.
Ryan Yankee joined Nate in the podcast booth to gush over the young rook and break down the Cavs preseason so far. (Though Nate stressed small sample size). We walked through the most recent preseason games, and analyzed the likes of Dylan Windler, Darius Garland, Cedi Osman, Andre Drummond, Thon Maker, and Dean Wade. We also made fun of Tom Thibodeau, puzzled over the Pacers, and gave big props to J.B. Bickerstaff.
It’s a fun walk through the Cavs preseason and we can’t wait for the the regular season to Kick off.

this will be another tryout game for the back end guys – be very interesting how JB & staff evaluate that – so far i still think it will be maker; wade and dotson but we shall see. with exum doubtful might see more of dotson and randolph and whoever looks best wins the 4th guard spot.
I don’t think there is much doubt about Dotson making the team. He is on a guaranteed deal, I think. And has played fairly well. And with KPJ’s situation.
With Love & LNJ both out, I doubt we waive Wade. Stevens is on a 2 way.
Now, Maker for the 15th is a bit questionable. As is Mooney’s grip on that last two-way spot (Bolden, Randolph).
Mooney doesn’t need a two way.
Anyone else.
I think you’re right about Dotson, Maker, and Wade. I just hope they keep all 3 instead of keeping an empty roster spot. I understand the idea of wanting a free spot to work with, but it’s not like any of them are getting paid a lot, so I feel like having those 3 options on the end of the bench is worth the potential cost of waiving one of them later if necessary…especially with the pandemic you never know when you’ll need more warm bodies, and i’d rather have warm bodies we know and that are also versatile enough… Read more »
Ice s muscular frame for a 19 is amazing—— it is a long season and scouting reports will zero in on his weaknesses/ there will be some “ bumps “ but this is where the development begins —- will be interesting how the Cavs utilization of the Minutes tonight/ more for starters and main rotational players or a repeat of the “ Cavs—Charge “ from the other night
Agreed. I hope the rumors I heard that Sexton and KPJ might play tonight are true. Also hopefully LNJ and Delly are out of concussion protocol.
Even if the 2nd half is essentially the Charge again, it would be nice to see as much of the actual roster play for even a few minutes.
