Live Thread: Cavs vs Pacers
2021-03-03We’ll see how bad the Cavs are still battling growing pains tonight, and if they can compete with a very solid Pacers team. Indy’s lost four straight, and need a win going into the halfway point of the season. Surprise starter? Domantas “Boner” Sabonis (thanks, Jason) is returning from injury. The Pacers are only missing T.J. Warren and Caris LeVert and are more healthy than they’ve been in a while. The Cavs are missing Delly, Kev, and Lary Nance as both teams trend towards health heading into the All-Star break. Let’s see if the Cavs can keep the win streak going against a decent squad. Should be a fun one!
INTERSETING INFO LEO—-SOMEWHAT SURPRISED ON CEDI –PROBABLY HAVE CONFIDENCE WINDL3R CAN FILL THAT ROLE —HOPE KOBY DOES HIS HOMEWORK —DON’T TRADE JUST TO TRADE —-TRADE FOR PARTS THAT FIT OUR TEAM —SHOULD BE INTERESTING—–EXPECT ALOT OF ACTIVITY DURING ALL STAR BREAK
Per Shams – Cavs looking to move McGee Prince and now Cedi in addition to Drummond. Appears the core of Allen, LNJ, Sexton, Garland Okoro are untouchable. Nothing mentioned about Windler but imagine he would also be part of that core. Love is basically untouchable which we already knew – be very interesting to see what Cavs do by trade deadline – still three weeks away.
Looking to move isnt the same as open to moving.

Just a bad loss all around and the turnovers did them in. Have written before, the basketball IQ for this team is marginal and some of the turnovers were so ridiculously and predictably bad. No reason to keep going after guys covered by McConnell who was overly aggressive. Just make the adjustments. Consistently driving to the basket with 3 guys on you, kick it out. The three miscues in a row at the end were just bad. Kudos to Sexton for another big game, McGee and ‘Mean’ Dean were solid. Garland getting hurt, again, is concerning and not sure if… Read more »
Its ridiculous to blame bball iq here. Literally thier entire starting 5 is on a rokkie contract with 2 actual rookies. Give the Cavs Delly for 15 mins and that game is a W (or Nance or Love).

He’s an okay player, but that’s joke

The craziest part about the turnovers is how many of them were just McConnell flat out picking guys pockets while they dribbled. Had we just held the ball at half court until 8 secs to go on the shot clock we’d have fared better. Was about as frustrating a game as I’ve watched in forever…and we still almost won. That tells you the pacers are actually really really terrible right now
They made McConnell look like a combination of Jerry West and Kawhi Leonard. You do that, you deserve to lose. Zero sympathy.
yup, for as amazing as the Cavs/Sexland looked at times on offense, the reason why Indiana won was because McConnell lead his team on the defensive end, something neither of our starting guards do on a consistent basis. They got stops and easy buckets in the 4th quarter, and we did not.
The craziest was the ball just flying out of guys hands and ending up back court violations down the stretch. I’ve never seen anything like that.
I didn’t even remember those. There were like 3 of them within 6 possessions!
Sexton dribbling and then losing it in the air and it going over and back was probably the worst, it was one of three straight turnovers when they were leading 106-105
Really incredible how much the Twolves stink. How many top 1-3 draft picks do they need to get out of the lottery??

The beautiful game.
VERY GOOD POINTS JOHNB ——-READ SOMEWHERE THAT KLOVE FELT “GUILTY ‘ FOR NOT PLAYING // WHO KNOWS –IS FRUSTRATING EACH SEASON WE ONLY GET TO SEE HIM PLAY A PARTIAL SEASON
JOHNB —THINK THEY WERE EXTRA CAUTIOUS WITH KLOVE —BUT ALSO THINK THEY WANTED TO GIVE WADE A RUN —REALLY SEE WHAT HE CAN BRING AND ALSO KEEP KLOVE IN HEALTHY MODE FOR POSSIBLE TRADE TALKS—REALLY THINK TRADES ARE GOING TO HEAT UP NOW DURING ALL STAR BREAK // LIKE CLF MENTIONED WAS A PLOY BY THE NBA
I suppose. But doesn’t Love have more value being shown he is able to play versus seeming like he is made of glass? At this point if I was a GM, I would question whether he will ever be able to play more than half a season again.
There was no functional reason to bring him back the last two games before the all-star break when he could have an extra two weeks to be fully healthy for the cost of those two games. Remember that he is out because the Cavs decided to play him in a b2b after returning from a calf strain he suffered in the pre-season.
True, but even discounting the last two games, the fact is that this is an incredibly long time that he has been out for a muscle strain. So what kind of longevity does he have? Whether it is the team just being cautious or not, most GMs probably see the answer clearly as being not much. He hasn’t played more than 60 games since 2015-2016.
GUESS WE LEARNED HOW IMPORTANT DG IS TO THIS TEAM
MY FEELINGS EXACTLY CLF—-WE GAVE THAT GAME AWAY
CAMPY COMING DOWN ” ON SEXTON SOMEWHAT ABOUT HAVING 10 ASSISTS FIRST HALF –NONE IN THE 2ND
WOW… that’s kind of crazy honestly… probably more critical of the 4th quarter defense more than anything though.
Gotta question only 29 minutes for Jarrett Allen, 31 for Wade, 33 for Okoro when the bench struggled mightily.
32-21 Pacers in the 4th quarter… that’s tough.
had I not seen the game, I’d be happy with the Cavs covering the line…. watching the game, I’m mad we let it slip away! LMFAOOOO
Well that was a choke job.
damn that was a tough one…. felt like DG’s absence was felt down the stretch.
No way they lose that if DG doesn’t get hurt…
I think he would’ve really helped the bench survive that run end of 3rd, beginning of 4th.
Yuck that was an ugly one.
Well that would’ve have been a winnable game. Oh well.
Good god, whoever’s the sound production on the telecast sucks…. can’t hear anything but the fake crowd noise.
Agreed. Can’t hear a thing.
it was really bad!!!!
Wasn’t anyone open for three.
I didn’t’ like the play call…. should’ve gone high PnR with Wade on the pop.
Love ever going to play again? What was his injury? Been so long I can’t even remember.
Calf strain…
either its more than a calf sprain or Love doesn’t want to really play and he holds all the cards. never heard of an athlete being out this long with a calf strain unless they are milking it or we discover the injury was worse than advertised.
If DG had to sprain a groin, this was the game to do it…
Sexton got the shot off, just didn’t make it.
One last chance. Let’s see what you got Bickerstaff.
Nevermind no tos. Sexton came damn close.
