New open thread/roster review posted, enjoy!
Bang. That Bev three should do it.
Crowder is such an idiot.
Yup. And one of those invisible games he likes to produce at regular intervals.
Some team is gonna be really upset after they give Reggie Jackson the mondo bag after these playoffs…
If Clips are to win overall, players like Kennard have to contribute on BOTH ends. Dumb fouls gifting points ain’t fonna get it done.
Really happy George hit that 3rd quarter buzzer beater, since so many NBA cowards refuse to even take those shots…
CP3 touch is missing so far. Booker a bit off understandably. NBA coffers looking good.
LMFAOOO indeed!
George has really been feeding Zubac tonight…
He was an above average playmaker in Indiana, I think he’s showcasing that type of game for first time in awhile these playoffs… legitimately afraid of his passing now.

only two name I really don’t like on here, Keon Johnson and Ziaire Williams…. too ballhog-ish and don’t make enough shots.
Keon Johnson just posted a 48 inch vert
LMFAOOOOO damn, the Cavs are in trouble with Koby at the helm LMFAOOOOOOo
https://twitter.com/TheNBACentral/status/1408237025560518658?s=20
I’ll believe it when I see it, but it would make drafting Green or Suggs a more ideal fit.
They also reported Cade to Detroit isn’t a lock.
The Cavs are kicking the tires on everything.
Kuzma for Sexton incoming…
I hope this draft and free agency is insane…. i want chaos to rule!!! LFMAOOOOOOOO
glad to see this:
https://twitter.com/AmNotEvan/status/1408215870334287872?s=20
Duke boy, huh?
oh yeah, if we’re gambling among the wings other than Cade, this is the one… also, glad they’re doing due diligence and preparing in case they make a trade.
Woj reporting the Mavs are closing in on Jason Kidd for head coach. That will go swell.
do they even have a GM????
Not yet…unless Cuban counts…
Lukewarm on this one.
OOOOOOPS SORRY CHRIS FOR “STEPPING ON YOUR TOES ” WITH THE COOPER POST —DIDN’T SEE YOU ALREADY HAD POSTED
you have nothing to apologize for!!! Personally I’m an information junkie!!! LMFAOOOOO
COOPER PROJECTED TO BE DRAFTED —# 22—# 26 RANGE// SPOT
nice, seems right
I’m sure the short jokes will fly, but this is a smart choice.
Cooper, while he didn’t shoot very well, metrics show great shooting touch and the ability to to get to rim at will and elite vision/playmaking.
Also interesting that one could infer that this due diligence is caused by the notion of trading back or trading into a mid-to-late first round pick this year… or if the Cavs are lucky, a cheap, early 2nd round pick (but draft experts seem to think he’s a sure first rounder)
https://twitter.com/MikeVorkunov/status/1408141956216147972?s=20
Exciting player. No idea where he’s projected to go.
one consensus board had him averaged out to early 20s pick, which seems about right. Could get overdrafted into late lottery, could slide to first picks of 2nd round.
This thread on Bucks’ idiocy is Golden.
https://twitter.com/stevejones20/status/1408008899475742727?s=20
If the Bucks keep playing like morons and the Refs keep falling for Trae’s BS, then Atlanta will win. Otherwise Bucks in 6.
The Bucks may stop playing like morons, but the refs will never stop falling for BS…they’re drawn to it like flies to sugar.
i am rescinding my “bucks win the ECF series”.. call it premature elocution (better than having the other kind of “too soon”).. i gotta go with my heart and the ATL (these boys are tenacious, fun and loose (buckos are pressing, and as leo stated below, psychologically weak.. PHX vs ATL is the preferred finals outcome.. which should be a hoot (and great for the league).. the “worst to the first” series.. may this be a lesson for the remaining chronically victory-challenged teams in the league
Bucks are always in their own heads – just a overly talented team that is pyschologically weak….i just cant see them winning it all, ATL is playing irrationally confident still and just riding the wave…yes Trae gets goofy calls but he might be the star now and NBA officials want to be part of the game still….see how Bucks react in Game 2.
https://twitter.com/oldseaminer/status/1408025517626953729?s=20
It IS true though. If we had lost that game (or won the toss with OKC), we’d be picking later.
As it turned out, those two things (Kev cannot claim total credit) is what got us the pick that Kolby will trade to someone else.
https://twitter.com/oldseaminer/status/1407906970133278720?s=20
Bud blows.
It’s all about the point guard position, Trae Young and CP3 >>>>>>>>

Felt like so much of that game was the Bucks terrified of trae getting whistles.
Reggie and Marv in the booth is like two old pitchers. One doesn’t have his fastball anymore, and the other was always a goofy ass knuckleballer.
Marv stayed 5 years too long. Reggie is boring.
Marv calls shots three pointers that are four feet inside the line.
Middleton is going to have to be better if the Bucks are going to win. Period. He mostly sucked tonight.
trae is a stud.. gotta tip your hat to the bro..
Amazed that Bucks aren’t 10 up.
probably would be if Middleton didn’t crap the bed…
WOW…. this was a great game
https://twitter.com/oldseaminer/status/1407892447292710915?s=20
Middleton has been killing the Bucks…he needs to be a lot better…
Should have fouled Capela there when he got the board…
Bud appears to have learned where to play Giants this series!
looks like another evenly matched series between 2 well-constructed teams.. i think the bucks will prevail.. but ATL has some moxy..
Jrue/ Giannis pick and roll is pretty lovely…
https://twitter.com/oldseaminer/status/1407891078666244099?s=20
LMFAOOOOO damn going for the jugular !!!
WOW, BS call and that “foul” was before the gather
Said same.
Five point possessions hurt.
Jrue bringing it after a slow start…
Hope the Bucks pulling away here.
not so fast…
Id have challenged that. He just walked into his hand.
Young is a good player, but those Curry shots are garbage. He ain’t Curry.
Unless they win a title, coach Bud is gone.
i hope so, but seems to be a consensus he’s staying because he slayed an overrated heat team and injured nets team.
Ugh. If you’re not gonna put the DPOY when KD is firing your a$$ up for consecutive games you should be gone. Never even at least put him on good periods of time. I loved that Tucker put his life in that series. But no way he’s a better defender than Giannis.
Well they are past that now. Winning the title should be easier now for them.
yup
Solomon Hill demonstrating how Hawks coach has all players buying in. Great move to the rim.
Holiday has gotten toasted this gane.
I really dislike Atlanta Want to see them get swept.
LMFAOOO you’re a Bud masochist!!! LMFAOOOOOOO
I am. I just hate trae and want ro see him fail.
LMFAOOOOo we all have our vices!!! not gonna blame you for hating trae, he is a villain after all!
Garland will not turn into Trae Young anytime soon. Let’s not kid ourselves here.
I have no preconceived notions either way. He certainly could be just as good and a better defender.
feel the same way, in fact, Trae Young showing out like this I would hope would inspire a guy like DG to make his mark on the game in a similar way.
Just as good means mostly equal or a notch below. I wish Garland well of course but I don’t have faith in that.
He’s not going to be Young, but he’s going to be a really good player…
i do hope that the “brain trust” keeps it simple.. don’t over-tax the neurons.. don’t over-think anything.. no need to come up with an original idea.. a long-shot.. something no one else sees.. don’t try to trade up nor trade down.. look at the consensus assessment for who may be available (green, mobley, and maybe suggs).. and if headaches ensue when trying to make a decision.. flip a coin.. this needs to be a gumdrop-free zone
TRAE YOUNG BABYYYYYYYY
Imagine being a fan of an organization that passed on him and Doncic, and then whined about dropping in the lottery…but something like that is purely fictional…
LMFAOOOOOOO get their asses (IDK who you’re talking about LMFAOOOOO)
Young having his way against the Bucks…
what exactly is the cavs “brain trust” ? kolby and his ken doll ? anyone else of note ? anyone with a record of success ? (in hoops ?) (in anything ?)
Koby said it was him and Mike Gansey… don’t think anyone in the Cavs front office has a record of success…. Bickerstaff, Andrae Patterson, and Brandon Weems seem to be other front office guys involved in the decision.
MIKEO YOU ARE GOING TO DRIVE ME TO …..” MORE BEER PLEASE “
LISTENING TO JAY BILAS ( REALLY EXPECT HIS B.B. KNOWLEDGE )—IS HIGH ON MOBLEY AND GREEN—-THINKS MOBLEY COULD BE ( DOWN THE ROAD ) THE BEST PLAYER TAKEN IN THIS DRAFT —-THINK THE CAVS CAN’T GO WRONG WITH EITHER ONE —DO NOT TRADE THE PICK KOBY ( ” BOTTLED DELTA WAITING WITH YOUR NAME ” ) —-LIKE I MENTIONED BEFORE I THINK THERE IS POTENTIAL FOR THE ROCKETS IF THEY TAKE GREEN TO HAVE “PROBLEMS ” WITH KPJ // IF I AM THEM I THINK THIS OVER CAREFULLY
Koby’s only gonna trade it if he can get a king’s ransom… like all of OKC’s picks LMFAOOOO at least I hope that’s the case!
If you can trade the pick for someone like Kyle Kuzma, you gotta do it.
Imagine passing on both Doncic and Trae Young in the.same.draft.
Think this is gonna be a fun series…
I think you guys are off the reservation on Simmons. That contract is an albatross. Simmons is lazy and has been coddled. Hard pass. He cannot shoot. At all. I get the theoretical appeal. I felt it, too. But the more I think about it, the more I hate it. Getting him forces Allen off the team. Bad fit with Ice. For Sexton & Prince & Cedi? Yes. No way Philly bites. No way do I include #3, Garland, Ice, or Allen for him. Don’t overthink it. Take Mobley or Green. Whomever is there. If that means we have to… Read more »
yeah I agree on Simmons, he’s a bad contract and if he refuses to switch positions it defeats the purpose in pursuing him.
I said on the previous pod I wouldn’t take Simmons unless they were willing to give us at least 1 FRP, if not 2.
Hard agree. Don’t want Simmons on his contract, and no way I give up Garland in a trade like that. Completely agree with your last statement, too.
I’ll never touch on Simmons. There’s a difference betkween a poor shooter and a guy who doesn’t want to take a shot at all. That was a dunk in game 7 in what would definitely be a momentum shifter.
I wish him the best but we don’t need him here.
Also hard agree and this is based on attitude alone. He is not a team guy, does not listen and we are starting to see the fruits of this attitude now. He may be able to fix the problem, yes – but this far into his career … I doubt it. And I hate to say it, but being traded to a place like Cleveland may just do him in mentally.
Aussie hater!
I’ve been discovered.
Couple points.
I hate the idea of trading this pick. Hate it. Hate it. Kuminga cannot shoot and I foresee issues with him and Okoro sharing the floor with Allen. Horrid spacing there.
Further, we have decent pieces. Garland. Nance. Allen. Okoro. Even Prince, Love, and Hart. We lack centerpiece. I think Mobley/Green have a chance to be centerpiece guys. You don’t pass on that chance.
I like Suggs. But his best position is PG. Garland + Suggs forces Okoro to SF. Which makes us small at three positions. I do not like it.
Do not draft Kuminga. He’s basically a bigger Okoro.
Regardless of whether it’s Green/Mobley/Suggs, don’t we stay the course with what we have and make the decisions everyone’s pondering midseason? Why wouldn’t we match any offers for Allen this summer (unless they’re nuts), keep Sexton/Okoro/Garland and then move on from anyone the rook is making seem redundant by the trade deadline when we have a sample size to judge from rather than just speculation? You’d think we could do decently on the trade market for any of the “core four,” so why not just take the best player available at 3 and worry about pulling the trigger on a… Read more »
I agree, I think the draft provides an opportunity to be smart about Sexton and Allen if Mobley/Green fall to us.
and I think the bottom line is that we’re talent starved.
Celtics hiring Udoka (Nets assistant) for their head job. No real surprise, but they should have hired Kidd. Or Mark Jackson.
Here’s a great article that quantifies various basketball leagues by their strength of competition.
The major takeaways here are that Australian and Turkish leagues historically are roughly equivalent to Power 5 conference basketball. This would a feather in the cap for guys like Giddey and Sengun.
https://fansided.com/2015/11/06/deep-dives-measuring-level-of-competition-around-the-world/
also forgot to mention, G-League is only behind Euroleague and Spanish league IIRC, so certainly a feather in the cap for Green.
Interesting article. The model draws from a wide data pool and has to make a few assumptions to make it work, but I agree with the general rankings. Some of things that get lost in this type of model is the variability within each league. For example, there is a significant gap between the floor and ceiling in the Australian NBL, particularly at the moment. My local team has been to the finals 9 years out of 12. Watching a game between the top 4-5 teams is not dissimilar to watching top Euro teams going at it, whereas watching the… Read more »
My NBA chat is really excited about Mobley… the ceiling on him is insane.
I remember a couple of months ago listening to a guy whose job is scouting and writing about NBA prospects (sorry, forget who it was, but he was a name you’d know) comment that to him Mobley had much higher bust potential than the other top guys in this draft. I don’t recall the entire argument, but part of it was his frame.
I’d be okay with him, but I hope Green is there.
I don’t buy that for a second… he’s supremely skilled with shooting touch and has elite level basketball IQ. Yeah, his frame is light, but I don’t think that’s prohibitive for his potential.
Whoever said that was a moron, all due respect LMFAOOOO
I think the highest bust potential is between Green and Suggs… does Green have the bball IQ to be a superstar, does Suggs have enough shooting touch to become a complete offensive player.
Scouting videos I’ve watched indicate Green’s shot selection was pretty good. He isn’t the playmaker suggs is but he showed some nice flashes. Seems much more inclined than Sexton was coming in and also has shown some passes that Sexton has only just started showing.
Has to get better defensive stance and learn better team d (like most 19 year olds), more consistent from perimeter though he shot well from three on the whole, and put on some muscle. Playmaking potential was regarded as one of his strengths which I see based on some of the passes he made.
yeah, what he did in G-League is extremely promising.
between Green and Mobley, I don’t think there’s a wrong answer.
My point with Mobley is that there’s legitimate unicorn potential there, possibly something like a Jokic with a little less offense, better defense.
I’d be fine with either
I like Suggs, but we CANNOT take three guys 6’3″ and smaller three years in a row in the top 10. Can we?
I mean, unless we can get something decent for Sexton in a trade.
I don’t think so. Garland and him are too small. Unless you decide to get off second in general, but that seems like a waste. Green or Mobley are the way to go. Though with the league being so overwhelmingly perimeter oriented both style-wise and especially how it is officiated today, I’d lean Green personally.
How many point guards do we actually have on the team? Basically only one…. not counting Sexton.
Not even sure you have to move Sexton to take Suggs, but Sexton would probably want to leave in that scenario.
The Cavs aren’t in a position to think about fit…. they need to take good players. And if you think about it, if we’re star-hunting, the biggest superstars all have coaching-level basketball IQ. There’s only 3 players in the top 5 that fit that description IMO: Cade, Mobley, and Suggs.
I think Suggs is legit 6’4″. And he can really defend, which is a big problem for Sexton, obviously. But if they take Suggs, it seems to me they will need to trade one of the others for various reasons…and it had better not be Garland.
But this is all so speculative right now.
wooo!!! another 19 year old on an already young team with no vets…see what happens here but Cavs need vets on this team…wouldn’t be surprised if they traded pick too if they couldnt get their guy.
SOME OF THE MEDIA ALREADY HAVE HOUSTON TAKING GREEN—-THINK MOBLEY MIGHT BE A BETTER FIT FOR THE CAVS —–WILL BE HAPPY WITH EITHER —GREEN OR MOBLEY—–DON’T SCREW THIS UP KOBY—- ( I HAVE A “BOTTLED ” UP DELTA VARIANT WITH YOUR NAME ON IT IF YOU DO ) ——REALLY HAVE TO BELIEVE THEY ARE SENDING OUT “FEELERS ‘ FOR SEXTON TRADE ——WHEN IS THE DRAFT ANYWAYS
LMFAOOOOOO July 29th is the draft.
Well, we really cannot make a deal until after Houston picks. Unless we decide:
1) We prefer bith Green & Suggs to Mobley, &/or
2) We think we are better off with Garland + Okoro + Green/Suggs as our guard rotation.
https://youtu.be/-6wpRvMjZaU
Watch this.
1. Can flat out score.
2. Can shoot. Pull up and midrange could be lethal.
3. Impressive air maneuver ability.
4. Aggressive player.
5. Has good vision and shown unselfishness.
He’s playing against grown men trying to make it to the league.
I hope Cade and Mobley goes as 1 & 2.
Reminds me of kpj as far as skillset and athleticism. Has some shake. Has some pullup. Has some vision. KPJ without the attitude issues. I’d take that.
Seems to have all the tools. Some of those plays are truly great body control and footwork. Especially impressed with footwork and ability to square on turnarounds, handles and shake, and finishing and on vision in open court. Nice looking and smooth release.
Expect he probably goes #2 though?
The way he drives, glides, jumps and contour his body in the air reminds of some guy named Jichael Mordan (sp?)
Can’t remember clearly but I believe he’s the 2nd greatest player of all time.
I had thought that but didn’t want to say it. Obviously prohibitively unlikely he will be a hall of famer let alone in that conversation. But he definitely has great body control. Given the nature of the odds for getting superstars in draft, unlikely he will be a franchise player, if you just look at the rarity of those guys. But he seemingly has great athleticism, body control, nice release, good handles, finishing ability (at least in that video). I would be happy to get him even if he is a little undersized. We would have to trade one of… Read more »
Also, very explosive at the rim. I’d take him. I’d also be okay with Mobley or Suggs.
Sexton for the 7th pick straight up. Who says no?
Whomever is picking 7th.
Well since Golden State will be wanting to have guy who can contribute right away they might want to look at it.
I think the Cavs will mess this up somehow. They will trade the pick and take Kuminga/Barnes.
Probably will trade the pick for Kyle Kuzma. I’m completely prepared.
What? We need a star. For sure it will be for Paul George.
ROFL!
no.. that is too crazy, even for kolby numnuts.. he will trade sexton for jabari parker
I wanna agree with you 100%, but Cavs went and won the chip in 2016. This means there’s a chance they don’t mess this up, though it may be a slender one.
Pretty sure that was with a guy named David Griffin at the helm. I always thought Gilbert refusing to pay him what he was worth was the moment it all started to unravel for LBJ 2.0 Cavs. Then again, seems like Griff’s making a s-show out of things in NOLA so who knows.
Fully agree.
Caruso busted for weed in Texas LMFAOOOOOOOO maybe the Cavs can get a discount!!!!

hope cousins doesn’t get suspended, that’d help the clips LMFAOOOOOo
Don’t really understand putting a guy who can’t jump, and who didn’t jump, on the inbounds guy.

JVG knew the rule right off the bat!!
