That’s right, CtB is joining the Fansided podcast network and Minute Media! We celebrated by going deep on the Cavs penchant for centers and guards as if they’re trying to exploit some market inefficiency that no one else knows about. We also lamented the Cavs’ lack of productivity in the free agency market. Then we went around the league to go over our favorite and least favorite offseasons. Guys playing true to form… Sharife Cooper great handles and passing, shooting suspect, Jalen Johnson bouncy and athletic, Scottie Barnes, can’t shoot or score at all, but still impacting the game positively.

one thing to note, is that Hawks are definitely playing JJ as a big, not wing…. hasn’t really spent any time on the perimeter…. interestingly similar to how GSW was using Kuminga.

Sign & trades between Heat/Raps (Lowry) and Bulls/Pels (Lonzo) are under NBA investigation.

Well, basically all the guys who have earned a starting spot are gone already, as are any worth paying $9 mil a year.
But if we split it up, maybe we can get a couple youngsters with something to prove who see an opportunity for PT (Diallo, Hart). Or a bench/ rotation level guy who might settle for a modest deal for multiple years (Hartenstein), or a lunchpail vet type (Ennis).
I think a younger, hungry player would be less likely to come to Cleveland when they could go be a backup on a better squad, but anything is possible I suppose.
I like your idea about Hard Rock and Ennis though, wake up Koby and sign them up!!

I could get behind Exum as 3rd PG. Big enough to defend 2s & some 3s. Can theoretically fit with Sexton if there 2 other shooters out there.
Man, if he can stay healthy he can still have a great 2nd half of his NBA career. His last half was great, his last quarter sensational. He was everywhere. Kickout pass assists, 3 pointers, fast break slams, steals and stops. Doncic was concerned enough about him in the 4th to hard foul him. After everything he has been through, this is one game that shuts the mouths of the doubters.

Really strange how Dame was so disappointing. Nothing but credit for KD, though. They don’t win gold without him.
He’s not a great off-ball player and sucks at defense. If he’s not making his 3s, he’s not all that impactful.
Still, I saw Jrue commit some silly TOs a cou9le times and thought, why does he even have the ball right now? What is Pop doing? Dame (or KD or Draymond or Booker or Tatum) are all better offensive initiators.
Part of that was the French defense…. they were using an extra guy and rolling coverage over to KD and also used ball denial… and team USA kept trying to force it to KD instead of trying to take advantage of the switching and coverages.
Apparently was battling some ab injury, but was playing through it. Would explain some of it.

BTW US 23 has improved a LOT in KY. Now from SE Ohio to Asheville going 33 -> 7 -> WV2 -> I64 -> 23/I26 is as fast and a lot more scenic than I77 -> I81 ->I26. However, be sure to not go into Huntington on WV2: as soon as you pass “Hillbilly Hotdogs” (you will NOT miss HBHD) look to go south on the Big Ben Bowen Hy shortcut to I64.

The last report months ago was that he was recovering slowly and his son or grandson(???) was more involved with the team even though the kid was more involved on the business side of the Cavs.
Are Gilbert/Koby really not going to sign ANYONE in free agency? Can you even field a team with Kabengele as your backup center and Okoro (no offense to Lamar Stevens, whom I love, and lots of offense to flamed-out Cedi) as your only true wing?
Curious to hear what the CTB community thinks of these guys still available in FA. I’d take a shot at any of them and none of them should be that pricey.

Winslow cannot shoot. And IDK if he has ever become a great defender, either. Could be wrong there. Hard pass. Galloway seems a poor man’s Sexton, SG in PG body. Pass. Sadly, I think injuries have done RHJ in. He may be washed. Even when he was not, he couldn’t shoot. Diallo is more intriguing. Pops athletically. Seems a high effort guy on D. Only 6’5″. Yeah, as we discussed on the pod, pretty much assume we are tanking again…. I do like a flier on Justin Jackson, but he’s not gonna make that much of a difference.
I am kind of a fan of having a guy with some gravitas at each position group. We have Rubio at G, LNJ/Love at PF. No one really at C or wing.
Not that it will get us out of the bottom 10, but I think having peers who command respect impart some wisdom to the young guys can really aid in their development.
yeah for sure, the only problem is convincing an older vet to come to a crappy situation instead of contributing to a contender in pretty much the same exact role.

Another consideration might be contenders signing ring chasers late, and having to release decent developmental players?
Due to lack of money and playoff expectations, the Cavs will have to wait and hope to get lucky with one or more players falling through the cracks. Not sure of the time frame, but probably nothing for a while. Just hope they know what they are doing, and don’t let Hard Rock get away.

Sorry I realized I didn’t answer your question. If you’re going to Afton, VA…. the things to do are hiking, driving on Skyline Dr. to see the leave changes, and there’s a ton of breweries, wineries, and family farms to eat and drink at…. think there’s even some winery tours where they drive you around on a bus.

NBATV shows most summer league games eventually. I have it via SlingTV. That channel seems more common that Bally/FSO.
GSW had a great draft in a vacuum, but those guys don’t help their title chances… they need to parlay them into a real star vet. Klay coming back and being good will actually determine if they’re even a playoff team much less a title contender.

The Ringer is often silly. Kuminga (almost surely) and Moody (probably) are not gonna help them a ton this year.
Still, Steph, Klay, & Dray were on their way to beating the Raptors in the Finals. Iggy & Liv helped a ton, too.
Klay hasn’t played in two years I think? And Curry just had one of the greatest offensive years in NBA history, and they didn’t even make the playoffs.
They’re gonna need Steph, Klay, and Draymond to play at historic levels to overcome guys like Wiseman starting.
