Live Thread: Hornets @ Cavs
2021-10-22Good evening CtB!
The Charlotte Hornets come to the shores of Lake Erie to take on the Cavs in another test against a playoff hopeful. The Cavs are slight underdogs according to Vegas (+2.5 points as of earlier today), and will be without their starting point guard Darius Garland. Ricky Rubio is set to fill in for the injured guard. It’s also reported that Dean Wade will be good to go, while Dylan Windler is still nursing a hip injury.
In spite of the many protests of fans online, Coach J.B. Bickerstaff will go with Lauri Markkanen at the starting small forward spot again, and the advanced metrics say he’s justified in doing so, at least from an offensive standpoint (Cavs turned in a 117.4 offensive rating with Lauri on the court last game).
In a perfect chance to fade the public, look for the Cavs eek out a close one 114-109, GO CAVS!!!
Recap posted if you wanna hop on over
HARRISON BARNES AND HALLIBURTON TIE GAME!!!
OK, I’m switching over. The bonfire of the vanities at Lakers Suns is too much to watch.
it’s a good one, utah up by 4 with 3 minutes left!
i’m watching Utah vs Sactown…. Sactown looks legit, they’re gonna make a run for the play in IMO
Bagley looks that good? :D
LMFAOOOOO now i know why he’s not in the rotation!!! couldn’t cut it!
LOL….RWB tried to draw the foul with BS, and gets called for the offensive foul….justice
Not overreacting, but this Laker team has big flaws…and if LBJ or AD get any kind of serious injury, they are done…
relative to expectations, they are in much deeper scheit than the cav-nots.. should be interesting to watch over the next several weeks
This is nasty. Made worse when your lead player accentuates contact by falling down and failing to get back to defend.
CP3 has to be the most annoying player to play when he’s cooking you…
Hope all the moron celebs are enjoying this Laker game…

I loved this quite a bit.
Collectively, just garbage defense by everyone not named Cedi (among rotation players).
Offense was nothing to write home about either, especially bad from the backups (Pangos, Love, Okoro sub 100 ortg).
played better the other night offensively for sure.
105.7 offensive rating, 116.0 defensive rating.
Flat out didn’t play well on either end of the court as a team.
The 4th quarter was just pathetic…
yup, could really say whole second half..
Very enjoyable seeing Melo get cooked on defense…
Can it be overstated that a team with the Cavs’ length should not be losing the rebounding battle? Someone explain how this is happening….
Not enough girth…
yes.. they are tall, but they are weaklings.. and perhaps the effort required to compete is uncomfortable for the newly minted multi-millionaires
Markennen isn’t a great rebounder. One of Mobley’s knocks was rebounding. He played 38 minutes last game so he didn’t exactly have a very good rebound rate that game either despite his totals. And of course we have a bunch of poor rebounders as guards and wings, Sexton, Cedi, Okoro, and etc etc.
Raps smoke the Celtics, some pleasant news.
Thunder losing by 30 to the Rockets…lol…Presti will love it…
Honestly, Cedi needs more run. He was in the top three tonight for Cleveland. Think Garland was missed and Ricky was pooped to start the fourth. The Cavs rab out of gas. Okoro has to stop turning down shots.
Eek Hawks then at Nuggets and at Clips. 0-5 with a young team and an impulsive owner. What could go wrong??
It’s a lazy comment but Charlotte runs a bunch of 6”5-6”7 guys that can shoot and handle and essentially play “position less” basketball. We have none of those guys. The little guards and 7 footers just looked athletically incapable for too many possessions.
No way this team is beating the Hawks…I think the Hawks have a decent shot at being in the Finals…my hot take…
Hawks the real deal, you might be right.
Hawks are DEEP!
Loaded with shooting, too….could flat blitz their way to the Finals…
I wouldn’t overreact. I’ll still take the bucks. The first 20 games of a season basically mean squat.
No overreaction here. They were my darkhorse Finals pick before the season. No deeper team in the NBA this year.
They are deep for sure. I’m still not betting against the Bucks d or Giannis taking another step though.
try 1-20 by the end of november.. who are they going to beat ? maybe detroit or orlando..
and december isn’t much better.. perhaps they win 3 or 4 games by the end of the year..
Lamelo with 5 steals and +3 on the game, and turned in a cool 17/6/3
He doesn’t miss many open looks…
yup, length to finish around the rim, and jumper looks good!
Imagine if Golden State had him…
“LIGHT YEARS”!!!!!
Scottie Barnes 21-10 early in the 4th as Raps are blowing out the Celtics….he’s gonna be good…
I saw a bunch of Hornet players who were just way more physical on the boards…
Bridges was a beast, Plumlee’s a tough SOB, Heyward was the best player on the court.
Rubio stunk at the start of the fourth.
no doubt. He was making terrible passes.
And the old Sexton is back
Here comes Tacko, the human vacuum cleaner…
JB waiving the white flag with the back to back…
holy crap glad Sexton’s OK, he got walloped
44-31 in rebounds…guess who has 44…
Plumlee LMFAOOOO
Need some rebounding wings or a vacuum cleaner big.
Brad Daugherty right, more Mobley touches
LMFAOOOO Sexton didn’t box, too small, game over
break down at the POA defense, easy money Charlotte
Sexton dribbles around for 20 seconds, bricks a midranger
damn nice fadeaway Mark!!!!
JB desperate to win the game, shrunk his rotation to 8 in the second half.
GREAT TOUCH PASS MOBLEY!!!
yeah, that was elite…
on a winning team.. sexton is a difference maker.. and worth a lot in trade..
cedi with a great game off the bench, nice bounceback from the last game where he got torched on defense
Cavs can’t miss a shot, since Plumlee is guaranteed to get every rebound…no one in the NBA can box him out, it is known…
FANCY MOVE CEDI!!!! WitH THE HESI!
